Incredible Rescue of Massive Male Orangutan
MASSIVE MALE ORANGUTAN RESCUE AND TRANSLOCATION!
We have some amazing news from the orangutan rescue project in Indonesia. The Wildlife Rescue Unit of the BKSDA, with support of LPHD and our partners, IAR Indonesia, have rescued a large male orangutan from the village of Penjalaan, West Borneo. The locals reacted well and reported the orangutan, who has been named Jala, after he was found near the entrance to the residents’ garden. Jala was obviously hungry and decided to feast on the locals’ coconut reeds!
The team initially tried to herd him back to his natural habitat, but this failed because the forest in that area had been fragmented by a previous forest fire.
They instead closely monitored Jala for more than a month, and then finally translocated him to a suitable location, far from settlements, with an abundance of plants to feed on. These incredible photos show the BKSDA and IAR Indonesia in action as they work together to tranquilise and then transport the orangutan to a protected area of rainforest.
Director of Biodiversity Conservation, Ministry of Environment and Forestry, Indra Exploitasia, stated that the best efforts had been made by the government to ensure the survival of orangutans. Currently the government has designated some areas outside the forest area as new pieces of land for orangutan habitat. It is expected that the new pieces of land can help maintain the survival and existence of Indonesia's endemic animals.
Thank you ever so much to everyone that supports this lifesaving work! Rescue missions like this one are made possible thanks to your continuous support. We are forever grateful to all of you!

1:40 Wonderful! Thank you to the village for calling for help and to everyone involved in moving him somewhere safe.
IAR & BOS killin it! Support these guys! Donate! Help this species! They need us all right now.
Amazing creature! Amazing rescue! So well done! Thank you!
Magnificent !
What a magnificent creature, what dear hard working people who helped him.💗💟 Love from South Africa.
He looks in really good condition, let's hope that continues. During this pandemic, lots of people have complained about having to isolate and stay at home, ironically that's exactly what these orangutans prefer to do, I wish all animals could live their lives as nature intended in this ever-shrinking world.
I'm so proud of IAR n BOS, they were fast to respond when I DM them on IG to ask about this Big guy.. They're doing a great job to help Orangutan n other endangered animals.. And the villagers who tried to help him n treat him well.. I'm proud of you too.. Makasih ya orang2 Baik! 🤗
Thank You All 🤗🤗🤗 God Bless Each and Every One of You for Saving and Helping the Orangatans 🙏😇💙🙏😇💙🙏😇💙
Such an amazing video ❤️👍
Has an orangutan ever turned on the release team? As I watch these wonderful videos of releasing them into a protected forest and it makes my heart so warm and happy I always wonder if they are not afraid when they open up that cage but it seems like they always just go and be free.

Some have turned against them but as far as I know none have actually hurt anybody or physically hurt anybody. One of them flipped its cage through. But as far as actually hurt anybody, no I don't think.

@@mommashawna707 There was a release video a while back where one of the cages fell into the riverwhile being transported by boat. But for the life of me I have not been able to find the video since stumbling upon it about a year ago. It appeared to be about 2/3 submerged for well over a minute. You never know if it was longer or not due to the discretion of the video editor.

@@dutchcoven4256 OH NO! That poor orangutan. Although I guess with doing anything accidents happen but when they brought that box up and released that animal I couldn’t imagine the anger and fear that it had.
I lov u (IAR)(IARI) 👌👍💪
Oh gosh. This almost felt like the part in "ET the Extraterrestrial" when he's dying. A lot of emotions.
What a beautiful animal
Is this the one that went viral last week where an 300 pound male orangutan walked into a village hungry and confused? I hope it is.

Exactly what's on my mind.. Ohh.. I just read the Description, And yes, it's him.. 😀
So what exactly did it get rescued from? Was it too close to a village? Was it being held there by them?

Did they at least neuter it before release?
