At age 17 Stephanie sang this song 8 times a week in The Wiz- one of the first Broadway musicals I ever saw. She was AMAZING!

That was the first Broadway show I saw!
THAT'S why she's the G.O.A.T!! This song shows her vocal prowess.
Stephanie's a gem. In the 80s, she had FIVE songs hit #1 on the R&B chart. This was the fifth. The other four (all bangers), were "I Have Learned to Respect the Power of Love", "I Feel Good All Over", "(You're Puttin') A Rush On Me), and "Something in the Way (You Make Me Feel). HOWEVER.... her other best known song over all is definitely "Never Knew Love Like This Before".

This tiny Lady can BLOW, Unique God given Gift…💯
HOW CAN SUCH A "POWERHOUSE VOICE" COME FROM A WOMAN THAT'S 4'9'' IN HEIGHT?! TRULY A GIFT FROM GOD!!🎶🙏🏾
She has one of the most recognizable DISTINCT voices in the business. Very underrated. She's a powerhouse. Stephanie is one of my favorites.
Still performing, sounding and looking good at 60 something! She can still burn a stage down! 💯💯
Diana Ross Sang it, and Stephenie Mills killed it!
Stephanie took the time to raise her special needs son to give him a normal life. But her catalog still needs to be recognized.
The live performance of this song on the Apollo was one of the best live performances I've seen. This Brooklyn native packs a lot of power in her little 4'9" frame. She was also a girlfriend of Michael Jackson in the 80's.
Underrecognized, under appreciated, just one of the greatest voices ever.

You must have her mixed up with someone else. How is Stephanie under appreciated or underrecognized? Her body of work alone is HUGE and if you study the things she's done in here career It's easy to know. Not to mention the many accolades and hits. For her too still be able to headline and sell out venues all over with Millions knowing.
Stephanie has a voice made for Broadway. The power and feeling in her voice is fantastic. She is a gem. Thank you for this great reaction. 👏👏🇨🇦🇨🇦
I absolutely love her song, Never Knew Love Like This Before!!
Your reaction to her voice is Priceless. Thank you. Her voice seems to touch a deeper part of the soul. This voice is from the Ancestors. Peace

This song always make me cry…the words, the delivery!!! Stephanie is soooo underrated!!!
I saw her seriously kick behind singing this on Broadway - The Wiz. I will never forget taking my husband and other family to see this play, see her, thanks so much for doing this song.

I would highly recommend yall watching the wiz for your movie reviews! All the music was brilliant!!
I first was her in the WIZ. She is phenomenal. She's a petite woman but she has a big, beautiful silky voice. She sang...took you to church, moved you to tears, gave you chills, had you rocking and reeling. She was a big deal at one time and for those of us who grew up listening to and buying her music she still is and will always be.
One of the greatest singers ever! So much more to hear from her. And she wasn't overlooked. She has an amazing career, still performing and getting her flowers. She just hasn't gotten as much glory as others have gotten with similar talent.
Stephanie Mills is probably the best thing to get me through the late 77 till today. More then enough hits her best was 'Never knew love like this before ', 'Sweet Sensation ' 'Put your body in it' ,'Keep away girls' ,'I feel good all over' , 'Putting a rush on Me' , 'The medicine song' killer track 'Pilot error ' , 'I have learned to respect the power of love' , 'Whatcha gonna to do'? I think that's the name. Those are some of the hits . And as far as I'm concerned she beat all those she was compared to .

And they both sing "I've Learned to Respect The Power of Love"
I Never Knew Love Like This Before is one of her fantastic songs that you probably know. ❤
Stephanie Mills had a lot of R&B hits during the 1980's. Probably her most famous song is "Never Knew Love Like This Before." One of my own personal favorites by her is the real catchy tune called "Bit by Bit" from the soundtrack to the 1985 movie "Fletch" starring Chevy Chase.
Check other 1980's R&B sirens: Angela Winbush - Angel, Lisa Fischer (Live) How can I ease the pain,Melissa Morgan Fools Paradise, Phyllis Hyman You know how to love me. They all have an amazing range like Stephanie.
She wasn't overlooked. She had some great albums; I still have them, and some iconic duets from that era. I last saw her in concert in early 2000 with a duet with Teddy Pendergrass.
Stephanie Mills is one of the great R&B singers. This version was recorded after Charlie Smalls who wrote most of the songs in The Wiz. There was previous version for the cast album that was several years earlier when she was a young teen. This Version contains backgrounds from gospel acapella group 'Take 6' who are worth listening checking out themselves for their music. Other Stephanie tunes: I Learned to Respect the Power of Love; Feel the Fire; I Feel Good All Over, If I Were your Woman. Many others.

Guys, Stephanie is a godsend. Listen to "I Feel Good All Over", "Born For This", "Feel the Fire", "If I Were Your Woman", and "You're Putting A Rush on Me" to start. She's amazing! Loved this video, and your reaction to her gift.
I saw the title and was like "uh o", "uh o", " here we go", clicked on it and sat back and let the magic begin. And y'all did not disappoint, excellent reaction, and surprisingly as good as she sings, not to many people on KZread react to her, because I think, she's not popular enough. I think, in my opinion, it may have been her manager, or maybe the record company maybe, but either way, her name should be mentioned with the likes of Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Patti LaBelle, Whitney Houston, etc. Love this woman. Great pick guys.
Now you have touched on a gem with Stephanie Mills! 1.Never knew Love Like This Before 2. What You Gonna Do With My Love 3. Something in the Way You Make Me Feel 4. I Feel Good All Over 5. I saw her do this on Broadway when she was just a kid, and she blew the roof of this even then! I'm glad someone mentioned Melba Moore in the comments- another young, talented Broadway star in the 70's ("Purlie". and if you want to dig anlittle deeper on this stuff, you've got to listen to Jennifer Holliday from "Dreamgirls", the original Effie White. If you listen (and watch) the Tony performance, the video isn't great, but you'll definitely "throw your hands up" for that one...

I absolutely LOVE this woman! I'm so happy you got around to experiencing her incredible voice. Her vocals definitely leave you speechless. Her range is so addicting! "I've Learned To Respect The Power Of Love " is a MUST...please react to it next! "Never Knew Love Like This Before", "Sweet Sensation" and "Whatcha Gonna Do With My Lovin" are some of her hits. Fun fact: This powerhouse is only 4 feet 11inches tall!
This song and “Never Knew Love Like This Before” are my two most favorite of hers. It amazes me that she can put out so much voice from a 4-foot frame.
The Incredible Miss Mills! In 1993, she toured in "The Wiz." She was about 15 years older than she was when she had originally performed it on Broadway. The show came to Atlanta as part of the Black Arts Festival. I was lucky enough to see her. It is one of the most memorable experiences of my life. She was terrific throughout, but when she sang this song at the end, I felt as if my soul left my body as she reached the climax of the song, as if I was rising out of myself. It was a religious experience.
Stephanie’s voice is so amazing! She still performs on a regular across the country. She was slated to play Dorothy in the screen adaptation of The Wiz until Diana Ross kicked and screamed to get the part. She actually dated Michael Jackson while he was in New York filming the movie.

Beautiful voice,special...you are right she never got the recognition she deserved!
Hi Brother and Sister! I just came across your channel and I love you two, your reaction to "HOME" is priceless!! I'm old school and grow up with stephanie's music. listening to this growing up i really didn't pay attention to all of the words, so it just took me to a place of being home with family., but over the years I realize she's talking about "HEAVEN". a peaceful world with joy and the tall grass bending into leaning. In the bible Joseph had that dream of the wheat bowing and leaning. she's thinking about a new world where her friends that have passed, went on to live. this song is sooo deep. Both Stephanie and I grew up in NEW YORK and I can tell you she's a christian with a good heart.
She was one of the best singers back in the day....PERIOD!!! She's still singing and bringing down the house! Plus she use to date Micheal Jackson when he still looked human. Check out Stephanie's hits "I Feel Good All Over" " Comfort Of A Man" and the duet with Teddy Pendergrass "Feel the Fire" Still waiting on you to do other awesome soul singers like Phyllis Hyman(Living All Alone) and the most powerful singer Jennifer Holliday(And I'm Telling You)

I saw the stage play when I was in the 8th grade. This 4’11” queen could sang her face off and she did it live!
She is one of the finest R&B vocalists ever to come out of the 80's. The version you reacted to of "Home" is actually a remade version of her original from THE WIZ musical where she played Dorothy. I suggest you hear the original she did in the musical from the 70's. That original version she did then is the superior version to what you reacted to in this one. There is also a Diana Ross cover that was done for the movie version. I suggest you react to Stephanie's song "Never Knew Love Like This Before" next from her first album.

One of my favorite voices of her era. Sweet and soulful. Try her doing "Never Knew Love Like This Before". 4'11 with a powerful voice. She still does shows and she has a movie coming on lifetime April 18.
Stephanie is the original Tony-award-winning Dorothy - renowned for years on Broadway... and though she didn't get to adapt Dorothy to FILM (Diana Ross did), she continues to sell out LIVE SHOWS on her "Wiz" LEGEND and her string of 80s/90s hits including "Sweet Sensation"; "Never Knew Love Like This Before"; "I Feel Good All Over"; "Something In The Way He Makes Me Feel"; "Putting A Rush On Me"; "Learned to Respect the Power of Love"; "Pilot Error"; "Medicine Song"; "Comfort of a Man"; even a Prince remake of "How Come You Don't Call Me Anymore?" (years before Alicia Keys remade it). And it's also worth noting that - though different - Miss Ross' HOME is also AMAZING - the film version; other recorded versions; recent 2019-22 performances of it (on her late 70s voice); and - most impressively: DIANA 1980 CBS SPECIAL and CENTRAL PARK CONCERT(S) and LIVE AT CAESAR'S PALACE (1979/80). The SONG is the CULMINATION of the Broadway MUSICAL and the MOVIE. WONDERFUL REVIEW!
Broadway singers are a different breed! Beautiful voices that must be powerful enough to project to the rafters. Stephanie is one of the greatest. She sounds the same way live as she does on her recordings
My favorite song of all time. I’ve seen her in concert at least 10 times. She’s amazing.
Saw her perform this in the original "The Wiz" onstage, it was BEAUTIFUL...nobody blows this one like Stephanie!
Stephanie rose to stardom as "Dorothy" in the Award winning Broadway run of the musical The Wiz from 1974 to 1979. This song "Home" from the show later became a Number 1 hit and her signature song. During the 1980s, she had five Number 1 hits that you should react to besides "Home"... "I Have Learned to Respect the Power of Love", "I Feel Good All Over", "(You're Puttin') A Rush on Me" and "Something in the Way (You Make Me Feel)". She won a Grammy for her song "Never Knew Love Like This Before" in 1981....MY FAVORITE!
