@@es4242 29 years, really. I remember what I was doing when I first learned of her being shot. I was in my apartment kitchen making a sandwich and the NBC news came on the TV in the living room. I ran into the other room to watch the report. Think of all the things we think of that Selena wouldn't even know happened. Before she died, she would have never heard of 9/11, Columbine, Sandy Hook, Obama, Trump, Latinx - none of it. And think of all the people under 29 years old who never heard of her or her music. A lot has happened in this country after she was killed, and none of it has been good.

I just got into this song last year, and it was the best song I heard in 2023. The background of Selena: She was a talented Tejano singer who was positioning herself to go mainstream, and this song was gonna be her ticket to stardom. Problem was her manager was already ripping her off, so she confronted her. Her manager blows her away. She was 23. She finished recording this song in March of 1995. Was killed on March 31st. This is why you never see her in the video. The song isn't released at the end of the summer, after all the media had died down, and losing all momentum for the single. It finished on Billboard at #22. This song should've easily been a Top 10 hit. RIP This is a Radio Edit. The LP Version, which is way better

Selena was on the cusp of international stardom when she was shot down. I'm gonna just say that I'm from the desert SW and we were all, black, white and brown, rooting for her. Lovely and talented, struck down in her prime. It was tragic and sad. You have to wonder how things would have played out if she'd been allowed to carry on. Same! I was at Adam’s Middle School in Grand Prairie, Tx, and we devoted an entire day to her never ending memory! One of the students in art drew a beautiful portrait of her that we hung in our school’s hallowed halls. Rest in Peace and Power, Selina!

Im 34. This song made me cry my eyes out since i was a child. And even moreso after i heard what happened to her. The day before yesterday, at work as an instructional aide in a school with special needs children, the music teacher was showing the kids music for cinco de mayo. The other aides and i were singing and happily joining in with the artists he was showing. The last artist he introduced them to was Selena. (He only spoke of her music) The moment her face came up on the slideshow the aides were silent and tears were streaming down my face for the rest of music class. And now they are again. I had no idea that would be my reaction to just seeing her.

I grew up near Corpus Christi, Texas. I was home for spring break from college and I remember hearing the news and seeing all the cars around town the day after she was killed had writing on their windows with messages saying things like "We love you Selena!" and "We'll miss you." the day my dad was taking me to the airport to go back to school.

I'm so glad to see you guys reacting to Selena again. This was one of her best, in my opinion. As a person from San antonio, I can definitely tell you.Her fan base loved her very much. There is a monument to her in Corpus christi that is very beautiful. I was a senior in high school at the time, and we all had a big candlelight vigil for her. The movie Selena with Jennifer Lopez is good. There is also a series on netflix about her, and then there is the biopic.

This is such a special song and it always makes me cry the memories. This came out after she got murdered and my grandfather would pick me up from school and this would always come on the radio and we would sing it and belt it out loud the 2 of us so this song also reminds me of my grandfather so it's very emotional double time cuz of her death and then my grandfather after he passed love the song but always a tough emotional listen 🥰🥰 took on a whole new meaning than I think she would have wanted it's so Erie cuz instead of a love song to a lover its more of a love song to someone that's passed

Selena was on my mind today, specifically her song Techno Cumbia (talk about blend of sounds!) It seemed a good one for you to react to... Then I see you DID have a Selena reaction (yay!) This was one of her 1st English crossover hits. My favorites will always be Amor Prohibido (romeo y juliet kind of song) & No Me Queda Más (I can no longer stay). The video for No Me Queda Más is heart wrenching. Selena was so afraid she was 'too fat' to record, but I think she looked stunning.
