wonder what the "it's the car" crowd has to say about Lewis being 2 seconds a lap quicker than the rest of the field, all in equal cars. also imagine being Piquet junior, especially this race. Hamilton spins right behind you, ends up over 14 seconds behind in 21st. you spend the entire race stuck behind Timo Glock, battling for 3rd. Hamilton catches up and overtakes you. Hamilton then overtakes Glock. you're *still* stuck behind Glock. Hamilton then overtakes for 2nd place. you finish the race behind Glock. those that simply refuse to admit Hamilton is something special after watching 15 years of this, their failure to appreciate watching greatness happening in front of their eyes is only their loss.

TBF single spec series are not as equal as you think. ART were the Mercedes of those first GP2 years. Kinda like Prema are now. But I've watched Hamilton since Formula Renault, circa 2002ish. Yes he always seemed to be placed into the best teams in junior formulae, but he proved why. He was the best by far. Hamilton told me Adam Carroll was the MVP in GP2. Just wish he got the same opportunities as Ham did.

@@donathandorko yeah team quality is really something that can't be adequately measured. Ferrari management in 2018 was a disaster. Ferrari messes up strategy -> Vettel pushes harder -> Vettel spins -> Ferrari crumble even harder -> cycle starts again. so even with the joint-fastest car and a 4 time WDC driving it (who never cracked in any championship battle before this) the management was just not up to par. "Vettel spins again" simply makes more headlines

That positioning of the car at 12:25 just demonstrates the different level Hamilton operates on. He played that move like it was a game of chess. There's another example of him finding the line for himself instead of just trying to copy and improve on the line of the cars in front back at 4:32. When I read the title of this video I expected something like a comeback from 10th to 6th. If he was Stroll he'd have retired the car after that spin. Not Hamilton. I've watched a lot of his karting races on KZread too and it's beyond clear that he's got something most other drivers don't. He has rightly earned his place in the best car on the grid, but he'd still be well in the fight even if all the cars were identical. Videos such as this are the evidence of that.

The things Hamilton haters see: He has the best car. The things Hamilton haters never mention: Beat record young double-world champion Fernando Alonso as a rookie at McLaren and was a pit stop mistake (by his team) from being rookie champion too. Joined Mercedes at the end of 2012 - at a time Mercedes was a distant 5th in the championship standings (a whopping 161 points behind 4th placed Lotus). Started the 2013 season facing a 4 time world champion with 39 wins (Vettel) and a 2 time world champion with 32 wins (Alonso), while he (Hamilton) himself had a single title to his name and 21 wins. (not mentioning the other two champions Raikkonen with 19 wins and Button with 15 wins). Won two of his titles in an inferior car, the 2008 McLaren and the 2018 Mercedes (the Ferrari was overall better both those years). Judging by Vettel's performance in 2017 it's fair to say that the 2017 was roughly equal to the 2017 Mercedes and probably better in the first half of the season. (he faced an illegal Ferrari in 2017,2018 and 2019 too). Managed 9 consecutive podiums from his *debut race in Australia 2007* - which still is the 7th longest consecutive podium streak in F1. 6 pole positions in his rookie season - many on tracks he never had raced on before. That's compared to the 2 poles of his far more experienced two-time world champion team mate. But, but...he has the best caaar! Sure, if that's all you can see....

He'll be more grown up one day hopefully. I remember Lewis giving Max some advice, a couple of years ago, after max has lost the race to Lewis by crashing into Ocon at the Brazilian GP. Ocon, on new tyres, was entitled to unlap himself, which infuriated Max and the two collided. Lewis said to Max who was ranting on about Ocon, 'you had more to lose than him'! Max was silent after that. Those were the experienced words of a great, great champion. When I starting racing, an older hand said to me, remember all the prizes are at the finish, as you can't win the race on the first lap, but you can certainly lose it. 50 years on and I still remember them!

@@manilli_ I agree, he is probably the best driver in F1, but the hate he's getting is the hate every dominant driver got. Vettel, schumacher were hated during the time they dominated, but the thing that most haters are mad about is that he and valteri are on another level when it comes to the car. This year is the most ridiculous. You see hamilton and bottas on first and second, one minute in front of all the others. Only verstappen gets close to bottas sometimes. I would have loved to see hamilton win 6 wdc, but having to fight to win the races. Most of the time he only has to overtake bottas in the first corners and he just goes and goes until he passes the finish line. That's boring. I watch F1 now mostly for the midfield because it's more entertaining. I hope that next year, with Vettel at aston martin, Leclerc having the new ferrari engine, mclaren getting a merc engine, it will be more of a fight for the first places, for the podium. Not just the regular 1,2- merc, 3- verstappen

I think we should be fair in the context and appreciate both without saying one is clearly better. Max dominated Karting, even with Leclerc at his side, came into formula one after only one year of Gp3 and the rest is history... Lewis early career is different and also great but you cannot genuinely say that Max is nowhere near lewis. This dude got faster and faster against Ricciardo who easily beat Vettel and Hulkenberg and has utterly defeated a dismayed Gasly who right now seems to be one of the best on the grid again (by the way Pierre said the AT doesnt handle differently to last year's redbull). I would like you to be more careful, because you complain about people not appreciating Lewis while you are discrediting Max's stunning performances...
