    Love my ultrasonic cleaner! I volunteer for an organization that takes in donated bikes and refurbish them. The bikes go to different charities within the city. I have a larger cleaner where I can submerge all my parts at the same time…great timesaver! Keep up the good work on the videos!

    I like watching you work on these bikes because you're so meticulous. I too am very meticulous in bike maintenance. I am always cleaning and inspecting my bikes, some would say I'm a bit obsessive about it 😂 but I like to be sure all is well. After all my safety and enjoyment are at stake! I know not everyone is a mechanic and some people just want to ride but I struggle with how neglected these bikes are. It is so satisfying to see you clean them up and make them right!

    It seems to me that when you work on an old bike,you say, " This is still good, these bearings are good, no need to replace this chain." On the newer bikes, it's a case of," This chain is worn out,these bearings are shot, this part needs to be replaced. The quality is not there anymore and has been sacrificed for lighter parts for more speed. I know I don't need to ride fast.

  • @Bikespeeds

    @Bikespeeds

    With new bikes becoming faster and faster it’s mostly about tolerances going down. Old bikes carry a lot of slack, room for wear. So when they do wear it doesn’t noticeably decrease the performance of the bike. But newer bikes are so tight and so quiet, something worn sticks out like a sore thumb🧡

    I was quite disappointed to hear you say you would not service the bearings on the pedals. Those pedals rotate just as many times as all the other parts on the bicycle. They may be different to service but they are not more difficult to service. You should have done the bearings on the pedals too..
