My wife and I just binged both seasons of Van Life. Lots of likes and subscribed. Our condolences on Leo, and best of luck finding your perfect Van.

Thanks Stew! Glad you guys enjoyed it!
Man that looks like a lot of fun! Always great to see how happy you two are as a couple. Keep the videos coming we love them!
I just love the designs for a lot of this video. It's amazing some of the options available in just the last 3 years since we bought our Era but we've put so much into upgrades that we won't be changing anytime soon. I love seeing all the options and considerations that you guys are experiencing and you are very smart (and lucky) to try them out and taking your time to find what suits you and your lifestyle!

Thanks Joyce...we felt like taking our time and trying various rigs out would be a good idea before deciding.
The resale value on those cutaway builds is AMAZING.
Looking forward to seeing the next rig.
Ed was a beautiful dog in this video. Hope you get one soon. RIP sweet Leo. He is missed.
I love love some of the layouts that you showed.. Cant wait for the next journey.. Safe travels.

Thanks Rhonda. There were some great rigs there.
That looked like a lot of fun.
That was fun to see guys!!
It gets cold downunder at times but off the beaten track we have flies and mosquitoes. A van with inside access to kitchenette and lounging is a plus then.

I love the Westfalia layout on the Sportsmobile
My dream van: 4+4 ford transit gas, LB, high roof, sleep N/S, garage and forward lounge. The AWD one coming out soon may do the job.

Really like the one where Kait asks "can you stand up in it?" Joe is right, a lot of the van builds are so crowded with very narrow aisles.

Yes, that one was really nice.
I really liked this video as well as all your videos. You overviewed Overland Expo West 2019, so nicely. So many channels show close-ups of a special light bar or a huge tire or a new gas can mount. You pulled back enough and I could actually see something of the Overland Expo event. Congratulations, and I hope you have a good new overlanding rig to put through the paces. .

Hi to you all! Maybe a Winnebago Rebel ? Can’t wait to see what RV you all pick.
It would be difficult passing on the Earth Cruiser if money didn’t get in the way, it seams to me it would be very comfy and easy to service and truly self contained and finding a preowned one should be a realistic possibility!

At 6:12 that 1972 you see was owned by a guy in Temecula Calif. I met the guy that bought it, Mike.He purchased it and I tried several time to buy it. This thing was pristine. It was NOT 4wd I had the intentions of doing so but Sportmobile offered him a newer vehicle and I lost out! This thing is beautiful inside all original, one of the 1st builds.
@Weretherussos

Yep - we got to meet him there. Great guy.
Since you said the next unit you borrow is 4x4, I'm going to guess that it's a Winnebago Revel on the Mercedes Sprinter chassis. 😊
I love 💕 motorcycle 🏍 omg 👍🏻👍🏻👏👏
Everything is a compromise. Pop top tent mobiles only work well with the top popped. You walk around bent over in them when the top is down. Noisy in a tent, not so great for walmart, stealth camping or noisy campgrounds. Also a.c. units located 2 feet from your head are noisy as well and wind is in your face. But they shire look good!! And love the 4wd
14:31 sure looks like the traditional Ford Econoline Extended body Van. I wonder why they made it look identical to the Econoline extended?
cool video:)
If you're skilled, it would be a heck of a lot cheaper to build a van yourself. I'm still looking to get a pop top added to mine but $10k for a pop top conversion is nuts!
I'm really warming up to Sportsmobile's new Ford cutaway conversion. I've never been a huge fan of pop top vans because they're not really conducive to stealth urban camping unless you keep the top down, not to mention the abysmal fuel economy that V10 will get, but its off-road capability is very appealing.
You should check out an Alaskan Camper rig. I love mine, it’s the only hard sided pop-up truck camper. Given the costs of those rigs it would come in far cheaper and you’d have a 4x4 truck to use without the camper when you want.

We're the Russos they had a couple of rigs at Overland Expo. If you get by Salt Lake I can show you mine or call up Alaskan Campers and they can find someone in your area to show you one. That’s how I first saw one before purchasing since they don’t have dealers.

Chris Cameron, I have some questions...the fold in sections around the bed in your Alaskan...how are the seals? Do they leak air? Can you feel a breeze while you are laying in bed? Water tight? No leaks? Do they get the bed dirty when you fold them in and close up? Thank you. I love the interiors of Alaskan campers...all that wood!
@chriscameron4223
5 жыл бұрын
David They are air tight for the most part, the foam that they use does tend to flatten out over time. They said it’s the best they could find for the secondary weather seal. The primary seal is the Pirelli that run along the out edge. So there are two layers that seal the exterior. It’s very easy to replace the inner weather strip foam, it’s similar to the weather stripping you’d use in your house and those just tend to need replacing every few years. They don’t leak any water and I haven’t noticed a dirt issue from them when laying them in. The top seems to overlap enough that the fold up walls don’t really get wet or dirty much. I have had a sideways wind blowing rain at one side and have just paper toweled them off after folding it down and it’s no big deal. I had a large Lance camper before and I love this Alaskan many times more, I’d never go to anything else I’ve seen.

Hi, how does name the type of room ( roofnest, rooftop) that you use in your van in 9:30 minute?
Joe, is that a shemagh that you're wearing? Kate answered in the affirmative at 8:45
Because you two are not RV Park campers and you appear to enjoy being way back in the quiet, I have wondered for awhile why you did not have 4WD. Good that you are thinking about it. I know that there are a lot of VW’ers who love their pop tops but but I have not heard of a pop up camper that weathers well for several years of moderate use. Though a pop top is not the same as a pop up, you cannot ignore the commonality of the two. You two are not light use campers. So just wonder how well they would hold up and whether or not you would tolerate their wearability. I liked that truck too! Was hoping you would give us a peak. But that’s okay, was just curious. Fun video! Thanks for taking us along with you! Good luck with the new loaners! It would not hurt my feelings if you decided to do a walkthrough with what you trial. Keep us posted! Thanks Rebecca

Carl Rice - I saw that after I made this comment. Or that comment. It is a very nice rig and one I might consider (or not if it’s a million dollar rig. But I am older and have an older still husband with very advanced MS and I can’t decide if I want to lift him that high into a van. BUT adding a couple of smaller (300#) winches inside would let me set it to pick him up off the ground and put him over and across the room to where he would want to be. But not sure why I am saying any of this because it is probably well out of my pay grade. Thanks for the heads up.

Carl Rice - gee. And I could spend a quarter of a mil and up on a cardboard accessible Tiffan. Think think think. I would bet money that they would put 2 light load wenches with steel rings in the entry for less than 50 grand. And we could go where we want. Thanks!
What was the unit at 0:06? A sportsmobile with a porch?
8:19 Only reason i clicked. For the new cutaway Sportsmobile Ford.
I don’t have $185K for ANY van, but I would love to know how much money it would take to own that gorgeous 1972 Econoline at the 6:10 mark! I’m in LOVE!
Don't quote me but I think the Transit will come in the AWD version from the factory next year in the US. I don't get why it's not already there, they sell the AWD in Europe.

Why not buy a high top van and build it to your specs? Seems like you don’t use a bathroom that takes up a lot of room. My brother is building his own and saving a ton of money.

Man they aren't giving away any of those 4x4 vans. $180K; $200K+... I don't quite understand how they get that much for them...particularly the vans. Your old one I get because it had so much room...but for me, I just don't see it in the vans. I guess they charge what the market is willing to pay. Anyway, thanks for another great video!

About that Army green fiberglass bodied Sportsmobile...I think the body is a near copy of an Econoline but...it is a few inches wider so you have more room inside. $185k as seen...wonder what Sportsmobile would charge for that chassis and body empty so you could DIY the interior? They charge a BIG premium for their interiors. Saw a Sportsmobile on another channel...it was a Transit, which you can get for $59k-$65k with a Quigley 4x4 conversion installed...and they wanted $134k for it...so, they wanted about $75k to finish the interior, which is way too much...but, this is America, and as long as they have a long line of customers willing to wait and pay for their product...more power to them.
Ca commence à 7:14 pour Sportsmobile avec le Ford Transit, et à 8:21 pour le Ford E (ECONOLINE E-VAN) sur base tronquée (cutaway). NB : 3 autres vidéos sur le E.
For the money you are looking at for a 4x4 type camper, you could have "Diesel Brothers" of same name TV show fame build you something to your liking. Just a thought.
As a sub of, “okraw,” and ,” growing your own organic greens,” channel, I am totally thrown off by the intro music lmao
