Incidence and prevalence use in Public Health as a measure of the burden of disease in community or country. We also sometimes refer to point prevalence and period prevalence. These are basic concepts in epidemiology that help plan health interventions and measure the impact of public health actions.

Shouldn't the incidence be 3/8? bcz we are calculating people at risk so 2 of them already had cancer

in incidence denominator i think that you should put 8 not 10 cause we exclude cases that were already sick even n the denominator

When calculating incidence, shouldn't we divide 3 by 8 which is the population at risk since 2 people already have the disease?

Incidence rate is for a given period of time, say one year, the number of new cases devided by all the persons "at risk". So in the example, shouldn't we ignore from the denominator the 2 persons who already have cancer ?
