All I'm saying is comparing the present with the past, it is undoubtly better now with all modern ways of life with human rights, scientific and medical breakthroughs etc...

One of the best prints of a peplum I have ever seen on youtube. You may not be a huge fan of these movies - or perhaps you are - but this one moves at a fast pace and has a bigger production budget than most of them !

I love the genré! "Jason & The Argonauts" and "Demetrius & The Gladiators" are my alltime favorites---along with "Oedipus Rex" with the inimitable Orson Welles as Tiresias!

Simon Sheminant This was very inacurate in the fight scenes, the Romans were extremely well trained in the use of the short sword, and their shield, they seldom used the sword as a hacking weapon except when on horseback, they used their shield to block overhand blows by their opponent , and their sword for stabbing in the midsection, a very lethal combination and wounds of this type are extremly painfull and paralyzing. Many of the combatants were shown without any shields. Low budget film I guess.

Anyone who has read or even watched videos on how Roman Legions fought there battle tactics knows what made them formitable was unit cohesion, they fought as one solid wall of shields, swords and speers. Only if the order was given "let loose the legion" did they fight one on one and that was only if either defeat or the enemies lines had broken so the Romans could fight to get out or run down their enemies. Other than that the movie was typical of the 60's foriegn films.

And they had a trick every six minutes about they would have the front man back up and be replaced by the man behind him he going to the end of that line of men unless injured and he could rest about forty minutes before fighting again for around six minutes. It allowed men to fight longer and harder that the enemy unless they couldn't form up the issue in this massacre and why it worked the Romans in mixed combat were at no advantage and often lost to skirmishing units who were well good at fighting man on man.

Wonder movies 🎥 from golden decades

Wow, i know this was filmed back to back with Massacre in the black forest which i am lucky to own, have been waiting years to see this. Most appreciated, please keep up the great work as i love any peplum, If you could get the Last Roman that would be impressive. Have not seen that since i was a kid, and that was the major cut one too. Once again really appreciate all the great downloads.

The Roman province of Panonia is located in the northeast of the empire, today Hungary and Austria. The original title refers to the location of the act gallien, today france. Very good picture quality ,I personally prefer the Italian original syncronisation.

An excellent movie 🍿 a fine representation of the days when Hollywood made great historical movies 🎥

It wasn't the Roman Empire by that time. It was the Byzantine Empire. Originally part of the Roman Empire but split from Rome in the 5th Century. The Byzantines were Christian but they weren't Catholic & did not recognize the Roman Pope.

It's got a Conan the Barbarian tone.

The beginning of the movie looks as if the Romans ran into my tribe the Sarmatians and the Amazons were the daughters of the Sarmatian knights.

Why did the Roman foot soldiers break formation? The shield formation was their strong point!

This is the most complete sword and shield Roman tosh... its just about OK for passing the time if you have abs. nothing better to do... Hardly worth further comment...

Not bad at all, you gotta remember people they still make big mistakes even today when it comes to costume design and other things. I still enjoyed it thou. 👍

Animal Cruelty ! Stunt horses that are trained to fall down turn their heads to the side and fall on the opposite shoulder. But several of these horses 1:12:08 fall face first into the ground. They Were Tripped !

The Roman legions did not come near northern China !

good movie. BUT in the final battle was inaccurate. The legions would not race pell mell into battle. They had the open plane which was ideally suited to te standard checkerboard pattern.

Douglas Ashcroft i failed to find any accuracy in the entire movie from the point at the start viewing the battlefield with swords etc left lying around which would never happen right up until the closing credits it was all just a giggle fest

Good for the age but that is not how the Romans fought in battles.. Were there no historian in the movie making team
