I don't wanna sound like I'm beating my chest, but I was also there with Lima Co. I totally agree with the last statement: "You can't really truly live until you have almost died-and when you come so close to that; that low that close, everything feels like a gift. Every little moment." That lull in the middle of a firefight or the post-shooting feeling...The wind feels chilling and the colors seem amazingly vibrant. The sensation of living after brushing so close to death is truly something that I find is hard to experience again out in the civilian world. Thanks for making that video, Stark. I remember seeing you back when we were in 2/5. Good luck in your future endeavors.

Solid. He said it all perfectly. If you were a grunt in stan in the 2010 timeframe, my hats off to you...it was a dangerous place to walk. Never forget the ones who fell...RAH!

Not trying to be disrespectful but why do Americans blindly thank everybody for their service? Do you think the average american still believes that the wars over the passed 25 years were justified and that there was an actual threat to their motherland? I get the revelry and exhilaration, the brotherhood and camaraderie, the fragility and the endless lust for adventure among the boys in the AO, but I don't understand the civvies that say these things.

Cowboy Animal i think people want to show gratitude for the sacrifice those who have served have made. It’s not always about the combat veterans fighting wars, every single person serving in the armed forces has given themselves to their respective enlistments. That in and of itself deserves gratitude. IMHO. So to all those who have served, I say thank you for your sacrifice of protecting this great country and the people of it.

@@cowboyanimal6700 because its not about the wars, its about the sacrifuce that they have made wearing the unifom. Even just garrison, they still go out and preform disaster relief and in the jobs they have, they can see some fucked up shit. It was nothing they were forced to do, they actively signed the paper work and chose to be in the millitary, for that people feel as though they deserve the admiration and respect. To me they have at least although im still just a civie with asperations of joining the army so i dont really know shit yet.

In a world of disrespect towards these guys that has caused so many to take their own lives , I dare anyone to stand face to face with one of them and argue your stance. That soldier will never lay a hand on them but the soldiers supporters will make their presence felt. In my opinion , Afghanistan was the toughest mental conflict in human history. Bullets and bombs are bad enough but when you can’t tell the enemy from civilians and they are everywhere but you still have ROE orders, that’s bad, real bad. To all service personnel past and present, thank you, and pass on your stories because your job now is to inspire new people to stand up and carry your flag. 😔
