More things about kubus. To get past many early johnny games you have to exploit a glitch where you gain jump height by rapidly changing sizes. Kubus noticed this bug during development and designed the games where it an intentional mechanic to progress. Games like Johnny 7, 22 Garden and Minto Labyrint Ho were especially brutal in terms of design in johnny 7, there is a room where you need extreme rng luck to complete, a room where you follow an extremely slow moving platform to the edge only to realize you've been trolled and the real exit was under the starting platform. Johnny 22 makes you go through a tedious section that requires focus and then jumpscares you. Garden and Minto gameover with one single touch and the enemies move in random directions, sometimes making them impossible to dodge. Kubus strangely decided to make the controls for johnny worse in 24 and beyond, sorta resembling action 52 jumping. Kubus in the very early years commonly posted on an old Frank Zappa Forum and lightly took part in the vampire community. Kubus also once had his own forums. Shortly before kubus's suicide, he had a youtube channel linked with a Google+ account named Jimbo Wizz (after one of his characters) the videos have been lost but some may have been his music videos as well as a series titles going by "I ____ your soul" I think one was "I destroyed your soul" and "I absorbed your soul" Kimberly kubus did many drugs in his life. His wasted driver series showed slight knowledge of effects and types of drugs such as pcp thc mdma lsd lsa, bromo-dragonfly, dmt, salvia, crack etc. Kubus believed that he was the same person of Spartacus. He claimed that the word Sparlatacus was envisioned/hallucinated by him and he took interest in the word years before he ever even heard of Spartacus. Kubus had a particular interest with Mexican culture. He has made multiple references in the works he has made. Johnny 2 plays the song: Pat Boone - Speedy Gonzalez in the background. Another common theme in his works was the holiday of Christmas, generally in the form standard western Christmas culture. He even made an entire Christmas themed album. Johnny 11 plays the song: Apoptygma Berzerk - Love Never Dies Part 2 in the background It is known as another song commonly associated with him. Kubus stated that he traveled to his kubus dimension using the literal oral pain from his nonexistent dental hygeine. Kimberly Kubus was friends with creator Jinxtengu. He is most well known for his game "Revenge of the Sunfish" which gained notoriety when several viral youtubers let's played it. The game had multiple inspirations and ideas from Kubus. Jinx has been developing a sequel, which is said to feature a vast assortment of hidden secrets and messages. The game development unfortunately has been delayed for years, but not stopped.

I'm the author of the King of Good Stuff Examined, which I ended prematurely because Kubus seemed to disapprove of it. One thing about Kubus that is sort of lost to time is that he would frequently tear down his site and delete everything, and then a few months later he'd decide to rebuild it all and ask around his fans (myself included) for games and albums he had lost. Without the small but dedicated fan community, many of the games would've been lost even before his death. He asked me a few times to take down stuff of his that I'd shared on different websites, and even tracked me down when I posted stuff under usernames that he'd have to work hard to connect with me. Also: I've beaten seven or eight of the Johnny games, at the end of most of them, you get rewarded with a photo of Kim, and occasionally some plot exposition.

I didn't get too far before he asked me to stop, those three articles were as far as I got. I think he was mostly paranoid that someone from his real life would see his work and it would get him in trouble. He was pretty open about using drugs and portrayed himself as a pretty creepy guy overall, I could see someone seeing the way he acts in his videos and thinking he was a dangerous person. He did also talk about supernatural entities and stuff that were out to get him, and I don't know how much of that was legitimate paranoia/mental health problems, and how much was his weird sense of humor. @@kylethesurvivor3874

This v ideo felt like going down a rabbit hole, my god. I am not the same person that I was 22 minutes ago. Honestly, it just feels incredibly sad, Kim had extremely obvious mental health issues, he saw things that weren't there, he clearly didn't really take care of himself very well and far, far more. I was genuinely sad when you mentioned that he took his own life, now his works of art are laid barren in a world that will never comprehend them. We will never know what most of these games mean, because he was the only person with a brain capable of understanding them. I hope he rests in peace, after all he's gone through, he deserves at least that much.

@@ClassicEd Hell yeah! His legacy will live on forever, as someone who created games uncaring for what anyone thought or said, he truly created what he wanted to create regardless of others' oppinions on it, and that's something that we honestly...Need to see more of. I hope his games inspire future devs, at the very least, they've inspired me

i really disagree with the sentiment you expressed in your last couple sentences. while i don't think there's any ignorance or malice in your viewpoint, i think believing his art can't be comprehended by somebody else (or trying to figure out what "it means") is kind of missing the point

I simply worded it poorly, I specifically meant, that, the only person who truly understands how, and why all Kimberly's creations were created to be what they are...Is Kimberly, we can try to understand, and speculate, but at the end of the day, none of us will ever truly know what was going through his mind while creating them.

We can however interpret his art in our own way, and create our own theories, but knowing what specifically he was thinking, or he was trying to achieve, is hard to discern without actually hearing it all from the man himself, which is sadly impossible now.

Thanks for the video. It really takes me back to my teenage years, I remember finding out about Kimberly Kubus through Jinxtengu's works. I'm glad to know that his works are (still) actively being archived, and through this video those select few who knew and remember him and his works can come together and reminisce. I think it was his manifesto that was most influential to me. Again, thanks for the video, takes me back. Much love.

One of the best mini-docs I have watched in a while. The dude was a real creative, unfortunately it seems like a lot of creatives suffer from mental health issues. This video made me realize I have been creating things based on some weird mental rule book of things I must do. In reality the best things or at least the most provoking things are created when you let yourself create freely without too much thought.

wow revenge of the sunfish is a name I haven’t heard or even thought of in half a decade. This is an under-appreciated video, reminds me of a slightly similar video about a different outsider artist named Ilillia, or something like that? I must have watched it a couple years ago so I’m not sure, but I at least remember that video ending on a happier note

Finally, The Kubus is getting the attention he deserves! Poor Kim... The finest mind of his generation, come to such an end... P.S. The link to the "RFBBC" album was uploaded by Sylvie on a Discord server dedicated to Kimberly Kubus after I mentioned that Kim talked about how he came up with the album title in his "Story" vlog, and I wondered if someone who knew Kubus still had the album. Turns out the album was archived back in 2018/2021 by someone Sylvie knew from The Sunfish forums. the original link doesn't work anymore, so I archived it on my Google Drive.
