Been working on the finger picking intro on and off for the last four hours. Finally part 1 down lol!

been a while now JK. Hope your new videos can still feature your instructional technique... and maybe an occasional cover version of some old favourites... will even accept one of you playing in the pumpkin patch. LOL

Nice video, thanks (talking about the D-C-G trick published in 2013). Do you use a folk (all steel strings guitar)? because with my classic (52mm at fret zero) guitar and my finders, I just cannot go from C to G the way you show it. You may have long thin fingers, not me. I bought a 50mm classic guitar and it solves most of my problems, but not quite this transition.

Love your training style. Sure would be nice if you would do a slow video with more info on the opening riff of In Spite of ourselves.

Good idea, A. I was hoping that the picking pattern info and the chord changes would lead the player to success with the intro but several people have posted comments like yours. In their live version video of the song, both guitarist have capos on. One looks like it's on the 3rd fret and the other on the second. But it still looked like they were holding C's and F's..

Welcome to the world of guitar, Bill! The main thing is to practice the finger-picking very slowly. You'll have to repeat the pattern a million times to get comfortable with it. You can do it! And listen very carefully to the recording. That helps with EVERY song. HI Sebastien, the intro is not easy without a little experience finger-picking the guitar. I encourage you to work on the finger-picking pattern shown earlier in the video. When that becomes easy, move on to the intro.
