Lyrics:
She don't like her eggs all runny
She thinks crossin' her legs is funny
She looks down her nose at money
She gets it on like the Easter Bunny
She's my baby, I'm her honey
I'm never gonna let her go
He ain't got laid in a month of Sundays
Caught him once and he was sniffin' my undies
He ain't too sharp but he gets things done
Drinks his beer like it's oxygen
He's my baby, I'm his honey
I'm never gonna let him go
In spite of ourselves we'll end up a-sittin' on a rainbow
Against all odds, honey we're the big door-prize
We're gonna spite our noses right off of our faces
There won't be nothin' but big ol' hearts dancin' in our eyes
She thinks all my jokes are corny
Convict movies make her horny
She likes ketchup on her scrambled eggs
Swears like a sailor when she shaves her legs
She takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'
I'm never gonna let her go
He's got more balls than a big brass monkey
A whacked-out weirdo and a love bugged junkie
Sly as a fox crazy as a loon
Payday comes and he's a-howlin' at the moon
He's my baby, I don't mean maybe
I'm never gonna let him go

Back when my wife was my new girlfriend we were just drifting around the country and this song came on. It was so fitting. Fast forward 6 years and now I'm a commercial fisherman sitting on my boat damn near in tears listening to this. I can't wait to get home and see her. I probably don't tell her enough but there's no life for me without her.

Beautiful story. Blessings to you and your bride. I started listening to John Prine in my college days; Chapel Hill, in the mid-70’s. Just nothing like John Prine music. He was an incredible story-teller. Listening to his music always takes me somewhere else; and that’s a great thing. ❤
My beautiful wife and I at 2:09 and our good friends Dale and Lori at 1:05. Such fun times. We all miss John Prine tremendously. God Bless him.

What a blessed duet. The very timbre of their voices offset each other in a perfect kind of wondrous harmony. Iris is a natural for her part singing one of John's greatest songs.
Humor, tragedy, empathy and joy in almost every song. Thanks John. RIP

Yup, just like a lucky few couples my wife and I made this our song. We had been married for years before I ever heard it...., immediately , I played it for her and.. well , she got it. It turned me on to MR. PRINE and his music...., HE WILL BE MISSED. ( nothing but hearts) 🤙✌️

Everyone can relate to the song in some way it's one of them kind of songs
The song my wife and I danced to when we were married! And his song, "Clocks and Spoons", is the first song that would stop our infant (at the time) daughter from crying. I've been singing to her ever since.
JOHN PRINE I JUST CRY AND CRY AND CRY Tears of intelligence! I love John Prine!
Never heard of this gentleman until I heard the news of his untimely passing this morning and the newscast played this song. I sent the song to my husband and said this is our song now! He agreed.

I heard this song on some random radio station passing thru Connecticut today. So happy I found it. What a great song!
You and me sitting in the back of my memory. Thanks John Prine. Your song will live on forever.
Rest in Peace, John! My parents used to listen to this when I was young, I remember it fondly. Now, I listen to it with the woman I love. You'll be remembered, Sir Prine, I promise you that! Every time we hear this song.
My mother loves his music, she had me listen to several of his songs the other day when we found out he'd died. This was my favorite. Rest easy John
"more blessings than one man can stand' Thanks for everything you left behind for us to ponder. Give Steve a big hug from all of us.

Wonderful wonderful wonderful. I heard the song on bbc6music and simply had to check it out. Must say I am no real big fan of Country music, but John Prine and Iris Dement's In Spite Of Ourselves. The lyrics are gritty and its so sincere I absolutely adore this song. Thank You R.I.P Mr John Prine. The World is less of a place without you Sir.
I simply cannot imagine life without John Prine, soothes my soul and inspires my imagination. I harbour big dreams of one day performing Beethoven sonatas at Carnegie Hall for a Concert For The Homeless, along with finding love and happiness yet no matter what I always come back to John Prine,

This is truly one of the greatest songs of all time I've listened this song probably 12 times today puts things into prospective
This song is simple and beautiful. One of my favorites, for sure
No words for the man that sure had a way with all of them. Thanks John, fish and a whistle.
Thanks 😊 Mr. Prine for every single song shared. Loved greatly ❣️💞...missed more.
R.I.P. John. Grew up in Maywood. Learned guitar at the Old Town School, discovered by Roger Ebert. Wrote some of the best songs ever. One of Chicago's best.
This was my husband and my song before he died. (Then I mostly sang Blue Umbrella.) Praying for you!!! Please get well! 😻
Love It! ...A video by an artist that features his fans. True love throughout. Thank you, John.
I love the nod at the end to Spanish Pipedream--just another of my many favorites from the greatest American songwiriter. I miss him, but am so thankful that he lived a long life and wasn't taken from us too soon like the members of the 27 club. He kept turning out gems until the end.
Just beautiful.....I'm only just beginning to come to terms with the sorry fact that I got through the first 50 years of my life without John Prine's music. I don't know how, or why. But I sure am a listening now
John Prine and Iris Dement have gotten me through some hard times.. so thankful I was introduced to such an awesome writer.
