In Pursuit Of Soul 2: Midwest Independence (2022) | FULL FILM

Спорт

Teton Gravity Research and Indy Pass bring you a short film celebrating the independent spirit of the Midwest ski and snowboard community. Those who ride the Midwest will tell you - they don’t need endless storm cycles, 4,000 feet of vert or fancy base areas to have fun. A few rope tows and rails, a set of slalom gates to bash, reliable snowmaking and a sense of adventure is all it takes. The ski industry could learn a few tricks from these tried and true Midwest ski areas: Family-first means affordable passes, after school programs, volunteer-led race clubs and most importantly, a sense of camaraderie.
In Pursuit of Soul 2: Midwest Independence was filmed on location at Buck Hill, Caberfae Peaks, Granite Peak, Little Switzerland, Lutsen Mountains, Nordic Mountain, The Rock Snowpark, and Tyrol Basin.

Insane production. I ski the small hills of the Canadian provinces of Ontario and Quebec, and this is probably the first time I’ve seen a professional ski documentary focus on the smaller, family run ski resorts I’m used to skiing! Proof that you don’t need big terrain or vert to still ski and have a blast👌

I love these little areas. Realistically , I will never ski any of them, but I do support the ones in my area upstate NY. We have lost so many of them its sad. The most local one to me closed in the 90's, one of the last times i skied there, i was approached by an older man and asked to take a picture of him and his friend who had been skiing there 60 years. The friendships made at local areas are still ongoing.

When I watched the first “in pursuit of soul” I really hoped TGR would make another with some Midwest ski hills let alone a whole film. Both brought tears to my eyes from memories of my dad teaching me how to ski in Wisconsin.

My deeply woven Midwest skiing roots have given me so much purpose in my life. Grew up skiing Tyrol everyday I could. Worked there from high school through college. After a decade of living out West and skiing the big corporate resorts, I long for the resorts of my childhood. The corporate ski industry has destroyed so many communities out West.

I've made Caberfae my home Mtn. it's my favorite for the atmosphere and the people and have raised up all the kids on that Mtn. Also 1 of my favorite golf courses too. I come up from Toledo and instead of the long drive up to Boyne's and Nubs which i love its a quick easy drive up and back. Crystal Mtn is down the road and Schuss/Shanty creek is too. Great film thanks for making it.

Amazing! Definitely gave me the feels and got me ready for the season. It reminds me of our little ski scene down here in the southeast. I work at a shop in Boone NC and Beech Mountain is where I always get a pass, it has 830ft of vert with about 17 runs but what makes it feel more like one of these mountains are the people. The guy in the beginning of the video is right in a way, skiing is skiing no matter what size hill your on, it’s the same everywhere you go.

Great Job and Thank you giving some love to the Midwest. I'm a Timber Ridge (Gobles, MI) Rat that grow up a few hundred yards from the little resort. Over the years I skied all over NA, but it brings me the greatest joy to introduce my kids to the local hill, my hill, TR. We still look forward to our trips to Nubs or Utah, but at the end of the day TR is our babysitter, our mama, our home hill. My best memories growing up are at TR and with the friends I made. I love Caberfae and can't wait to help my 3rd grade kids skip school for a midwest powder day. Thank you for showcasing the Soul of Midwest Skiing and the hill families that it builds.

I grew up skiing in Wisconsin and I was so proud to see my favorite resorts featured. I have been skiing at Tyrol Basin for over 20 years and the small town ski town vibe keeps me coming back year after year. I love skiing in Wisconsin, it's a mixed bag of people on the hill, from snowmobile suits and blaze orange hunting gear to people with the latest gear all are welcome.

The skinner family that owns granite peak and lutsen who have now purchased indianhead and blackjack in Bessemer Mi. They chose to shut down the only only snowmobile trail connecting Notrthern Wi and the far eastern U.P. with the rest of upper peninsula. This is going to be crippling to a community, and businesses who rely on that trail for tourism. Antithesis of the family and community values portrayed in film...
