    I know this is a later comment but thanks for the video!!! I was really debating on these for my next smaller trucks but ultimately the kingpin clearance and not being able to use talls on the 50 plate made me decide on Valkyrie mk3 slaloms!!!

    Great vid. Helped me understand rake, no rake, etc. Did you say Precisions were going to be available in 180mm? I didn’t see it on their page. Good luck in Puerto Rico. 🤘

    No the precision Cals are 125-135 but cast cal 3's come in 160 and 180mm widths and are compatible with the precision baseplates!

    Love the review I thought it was great! I was wondering about the insert longevity, it reminded me of smokies and their insert, how do cal 3s compare to smokies?

  • @ChemTrailSkate

    @ChemTrailSkate

    5 ай бұрын

    I havent actually skated smokies so I cant compare, for the insert longevity I am not sure either as these are the first trucks with inserts I have owned however from knowing others who skate trucks with inserts I know that it is common for inserts to last up to years before needing to be replaced. There a lot of factors like how often you skate, how aggressively you skate, how often you take the insert off etc.

    Thanks for you insight, I just got a set and I was wondering if you’ve had any experience with the bushings not lining up with the bushing seat? When trying to run talls without a boardside washer, the road side bushing was getting clipped by the top half of the bushing seat. I was using seismic tall bushings. Also the insert is a bitch to get into place. Any experiences with similar things?

  • @ChemTrailSkate

    @ChemTrailSkate

    Pretty sure if trucks come with washers boardside it means they are supposed to be there. You probably were throwing the geometry out of line by not running the washer which made the bushing get clipped.

    3:13 Possible hack? You can swap out the precision 50 degree baseplate with the cast Caliber III 50 degree baseplate that still comes with the removable shim for tall bushings, if you really want to use one.

  • @ChemTrailSkate

    @ChemTrailSkate

    Could do, although I think the cast baseplates only allow for a tall boardside?

    Just from images the 50 degree cast have quite a bit of thread showing so talks might work roadside. Maybe riptide kranks would work though I have no experience with those.

    These are Pijin gloves from NZ they were a once off batch I'm not sure if he is going to do more again or not? and yeah I feel like there isn't too many well known options out there for gloves, pucks and even helmets these days.

  • @flurpoid

    @@ChemTrailSkateThere's practically no accessible options for pucks, and the stuff which is around is expensive and more performance/race oriented. I'm fortunate to have my Ojooms from 3 years ago still, but my friend who freerides fairly casually is stuck with bootleg S9 pucks from Amazon because that's the only option. It's like DH gear has gotten so refined but it's so sparse in quantity nowadays compared to 10 years ago. Sorry for the rant but addressing these holes in gear availability could potentially be a good video.

    Hey! Great review as always! I also prefer trucks that are more flowy/surfy and have a hard time to get used to the snappiness of Cal3s. It got alot better when i switched to tall bushings, but still very snappy. When comparing cast trucks, which brand do you think has the flowiest feel? I'm about to buy/try some Bear Gen6. Have you ever tried Bears and can you compare them? Thank you! :)

  • @ChemTrailSkate

    @ChemTrailSkate

    I haven't tried the Bear trucks, I think the flowiest cast trucks are going to be ones that runs talls like cast ronins or cast rogues. Unfortunately I haven't actually tried either.

    Keep an eye out for Arsenal cast trucks if you can find some. Gullwing Reverse and Charger 2 are also great imo. Also if you're on 165mm or narrower trucks you'll get much less snappiness out of something wider.

    We know they are way more prescise than any cast truck, the point isn't just being prescise, it is some of rhe point of course but also strength. Strength is increased immensely. We can be pisutive the tolerences are small because they are machined. 🤷‍♂️ just my thoughts.

    @@savonic2112 These trucks have been tested over the last 18 months by some of the fastest riders in the world. They even earned a 6th place finish at a World Championship race, beating out most competing truck brands. Fully CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum billet, down to 0.01mm tolerances, and finished with machined & self-lubricating Delrin pivots, 4140 hardened high-strength axles, CNC machined washers, a tuned bushing setup stock with 88 Wheel Co Gummies, these trucks are some of the best money can buy.
