Enjoy your videos, first transmission I built was a cast iron power glide for a 57 Chevy. Retired now and I still love to watch

Stripped bolts will usually come out if u chisel a groove in the head for like a flat head screwdriver and u then turn that chisel on an angle and hit that groove on that bolt on the edge counter clockwise and the shock will bust the bolt loose and it will screw right out i havnt had one fail to come out yet and air chisel works even better

I want a valve body video of other stuff you do for different applications and worn examples of what to look for in the 4l60e series.

Do you break the bellhousing bolts loose before you start your videos? I was working on an '07 4l60e and broke a 3/8" drive bit using a cordless 1/2" drive impact and had to drill out 3 of the bolts with a drill bit size I had to order, so it took me over 3 days to get the bellhousing off! I was using the correct Torx Plus bit and still rounded out the 3, no matter if I used an impact or a ratchet and extension. I inserted the bit with an extension and whacked it with a hammer a couple times first...

I honestly just use my half inch impact with a Cornwell socket and it works very well if I have one that doesn't pop right loose I will use heat on the back of the bolt to aid in removal

A guy walks up to the parts counter and says "I'd like a filter for my 4L60." The parts man thinks for a second and replies "Sure, sounds like a fair trade to me."

08 Silverado with 60,000 miles has hard shift for 1st to 2nd on 4L60E when it's cold but just fine after it warms up. What's your diagnosis?

What's the shift adapts at also have you had a pressure gauge on it several things can cause that between accumulation and pcm command and sticking valves.

  • @expressautotransmissiondav4207

That is strange I'd start with line pressure testing.

I always like to start diag with a scanner fluid level check and line pressure testing. It could be as simple as a dirty mass sensor or as involved as a sticking 1-2 accumulator valve.

Hey do you want to send me out one of those used pump vane assembles I guess I have good vanes but the rest is broke I know I should not use used stuff but I have already broke it like 3 times I think I'll have it fixed this time I know it's not right but it is what it is I plan on going 4l80e eventually obviously that doesn't have much to do with this problem but if I can get a used one for cheap that works for me

It really helps keep oil on the sprag surface to use 80 grit and does effect the way the sprag holds

  • @expressautotransmissiondav4207

I tried a chisel a few time and tried heating the backs up or a big breaker bar but welding them is fast and honestly the easiest way to get a stripped one out in my opinion.

@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 The last bell I just took off was a bear, four wouldnt budge with a 1/2 inch impact 12 inch extension with 1/2 inch to 3/8 reducer with a 3/8 drive moretorq bit impact set on 4 highest setting, was putting the socket in and tapping with a hammer to seat them good, all but four came out,had to end up getting my two pound hammer a smacking each one four or five times to get them to start turning, then one I had to smack more than the others,,just glad the 1/2 to 3/8 was a snap on,thought it was gonna break or bolt break before they came out, these was factory installed with lock tite, never had been apart before, the guy I bought it from said it didnt have that many miles on it but had shifting problems,he told the truth, everything looked good inside,it even had good four pinion planets,of the other three only one front planet was good the rest was worn out,it must have been an issue with either the pump or vavle body on the shifting issue! Thanks for the video!

@@expressautotransmissiondav4207 Yes,that lock tite makes them rough, except for the other two which wasnt bad it was a brand new bit,I forgot the first one was an earlier 96 model without detachable bell,I am going to rebuild it to go back in my 96 Surburban, just going to swap them out with a new or remanfactured torq convertor!I know,I had visions of having to get my Mig welder out!
