Ok Mr Frum, we heard you, then why Iranians gave 72 hours advance notice to the U.S before the start of the attack ???

Not often the last 8 years I disagree with David but given the fact they telegraphed in advance not just that the missiles and drones were coming but also mentioned the targets and those targets were a remote military base and disputed territory with a link to Syria I really do think that in this case the Iranians were happy to, indeed hoping for, their missiles and drones to be shot down as they now make Israel appear responsible for any escalation while getting good intel on Israeli defensive capabilities and managing to assuage their own internal hardliners demanding a response to what happened at the embassy It gives me no pleasure to say this but like the missile attack on the US base after Soelemani this seems like a strategically sophisticated response that also showed off their technical military sophistication as well Concerning stuff but for different reasons than David suggests I think

Excellent analysis and conversation with David Frum. Iran’s response to Israel was, as so many have said “lame”. It’s so perplexing that the Palestinians have nowhere to go - loads of space elsewhere in the Arab middle-east. Yet all of the other Arab states abhor them. Why do the genuine Arab states dislike them so much?

Is that what it is? Arab countries suddenly hate Palestinians? Gaddafi is dead. Saddam. Osama. That's what happens. Everything has been played out like chess.

Did I miss conversation of encroachment of Israeli settlements if another 200 acres. Hamas is a suicidal genocidal exterminationist group who cite this encroachment as causation. We can look to history, this has happened before in India where govt took advantage of an economically weaker Sikh province and the adversity created a similar extremist group. They found peace through compromise. That may be over-simplifying but it is an example of how peace could be achieved

Why does Frumm call Iran’s response a “terrorist attack” when it was really a perfunctory response, and he doesn’t call Israel’s highly illegal bombing and killing of people inside the Iranian consulate a terrorist attack? The hypocrisy is stunning, especially from someone so well educated and supposedly well informed. I’d really like to know why the double standard.

right! like how does Iran and other 'terrorist' states consider themselves repressed minorities, when 90%+ of the region is Arab and 90% of them kicked out every minority from within (aka genocide)? did you know that 20% of Israel population is ARAB WITH voting rights? dare you to wear a rainbow scarf and a jewish star and walk on the streets of any Arab country.

Mr Frum nailed it with his final comments. Canada should just be quiet when asked about foreign policy. It has allowed an incomparably diverse community to enter. But this present government has this insatiable need to virtue signal .There are so many disasters happening in Canada that it would be prudent to not take stands on anything but what is going on in the cities and towns and countryside here.

Canada is a signatory to the United Nations Charter, including Article 51, which allows member states to respond militarily to an attack from another state. The missile attack on Israel by Iran was completely within the bounds of Article 51, and therefore Canada abides by Iran’s attack on Israel.

the drones used by Iran are obsolete with a 2lbs of explosives any one with some degree of intelligence would recognize that they were only used to weaken the air defenses systems and as a data gathering on the IDF defense mechanism the only true missiles that can be considered to be effective missiles which Iran has used were 7 and at least 5 of them had successfully hit 3 of the intended targets each and every one of their planned targets which by the way are considered to be the most defended military bases in the world thus they were unable to protect themselves from the Iranian missiles. The remarks about Iran has been involved in the massacre in Syria civil war, i am in shock and awe that a highly intelligent person would have us believe that the war in syria was just a simple civil war i have no doubt in my mind that Mr Frum knows that the whole war was a man made one by the Americans Quatar Turkey and all of the European countries for the reasons that Syria had refused to allow a Gas pipeline to pass through its territory the Obama plan was to create a whole new pipeline to supply europe in an effort to get rid of the russian dependency thus cutting off russia main income and bankrupt them that is the truth behind the Syrian war.

Now that Israel has lost the war to Hamas inside of Gaza is this attack on Iran some kind of distraction, or some way for Netanyahu to maintain his grip on power by continually stringing along the conflict in the region and by continually placing Israelis in harms way? Israel is now a real and potential target for Iranian missiles.
