IMPULSE® •Series 5 AC Variable Frequency Drives: Stationary Auto-Tuning Part 1 | CMCO

1. Introduction
This SOP provides a step-by-step guide to perform a stationary Auto-Tune in IMPULSE®️ Series 5 drives.
2. Procedure
2.1 Understand the Stationary Auto-Tune
Understand that this is selected when one cannot decouple the motor from the drivetrain on the particular crane motion.
The stationary Auto-Tune has two sections, the first section, the Series 5 drive energizes the motor with no rotation. And in section two, the Series 5 drive is told rotate the motor at a frequency by the operator.
2.2 Access the Auto-Tune Section
First, hit the menu key and scroll down to Auto-Tune directory and open it up.
2.3 Select Stationary Auto-Tune (T01-01=1)
2.4 Complete remaining T01 parameters.
2.5 Start the Auto-Tune
Press the green run key. On the Series 5 drive display, there’s a bar graph that indicates how far along the Auto-Tune is proceeding.
The drive shows the frequency output and the current output.
2.6 Complete the Auto-Tune
When the series 5 drive completes the first portion of the stationary Auto-Tune, the display will show “Auto-Tune Successful.”
2.7 Place the Series 5 drive back into the ready mode
Press the home key, to put the drive into “ready mode” (the blue “drive ready” LED will illuminate.)
2.8 Apply run command in the FWD/UP direction greater than output frequency of 18 Hz. Run until the display shows TMDN (Tune complete)
3. Conclusion
This SOP provides a basic guide on how to perform a stationary Auto-Tune in IMPULSE®️ Series 5 drives. Always follow the steps in order to ensure a successful Auto-Tune.
