    "Do you like Girl In Red?" is the lesbian equivalent to "Are you a friend of Dorothy?" but Amanda clearly was also out of the loop here 😆

    @@remi_pog5852 it was an old code phrase to find out if someone was gay. if you were a 'friend of dorothy's', it meant you were gay. because of a quote from the wizard of oz (prequel book i think?) which was like 'you have some queer little friends dorothy' and she says 'the queerness doesn't matter, as long as they're friends' :)

    @@remi_pog5852Judy Garland (played Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz) was considered an icon in the gay community back then, they loved her. I think I have an answer. When those "nerdy" people grow up and go to conventions and other gatherings, there's mostly the same types of people there so they instantly feel more free to be themselves, which is something that was most likely denied or frowned upon in high school. Then, they see a conventionally attractive person that isn't ignoring them and they're like "oh my goodness!! Normal conversation must mean this attractive person wants to do the deed with me! Let me pursue this and make them uncomfortable!" Sorry for the TLDR but I've been friends with many of these people (Just graduated HS lol)

  • @truebornseeker9767

    @truebornseeker9767

    Ай бұрын

    I feel like it’s weird to presume that all nerdy people at cons/gatherings are gonna be overzealous to the point of making people uncomfortable or harassing people It definitely is a pattern of if you already feel like a freak then you’re gonna be more open to exploring other freaky parts of yourself (in either order tbh- feeling like a freak because you’re kinky and then exploring your nerdy interests because might as well, or feeling like a freak because you’re a nerd and then exploring your sexuality more openly because might as well), but the people who go too far and purposefully make others uncomfortable or somehow are so socially inept that they think conversation = wants to have sex are a minority, not the rule or the majority (also weird to imply that harassment only happens when the victim is perceived as attractive but that’s besides the point)

    I haven't seen anyone mention this, but Shayne (who is Damien's best friend) has praised "I think you should leave" in their first podcast episode about reading rejected sketches. "This feels like an 'I think you should leave' sketch" has also essentially become a catchphrase of his for just whenever one of his coworkers is doing something ridiculous with absolute confidence. I'm not sure if Damien himself is also a massive fan, but I can't imagine Shayne wouldn't at least show him a couple of his sketches. Also, if you're looking at reacting to more Smosh content in the future may I suggest this video: kzread.info/dash/bejne/mXeNlKeJesfehNI.html It's another Smosh Pit Theater episode, except instead of comments it's DMs they've received. Spencer in particular stands out to me, he's not trained in improv yet perfectly showcases many of the tips you give (ex reading the lines as the character w/ absolutely no prejustification). I also thought Arasha gave an excellent performance in managing to make even the weirdest of lines fit into the scene, though that may just be my bias given she's my favorite cast member.

    I f***ing love Tom Cardy. I don't know what I could add to the discussion of his music other than it's brilliant and hilarious but I'll add it to the list of things yo maybe discuss one day.

    Tom cardy is always a lyrical genius, perhaps you could breakdown his song structure and storytelling/comedic timing he places in certain songs?@@katelynisspooky

    Why are nerds freaky along with band geeks? :: - because news flash nearly everyone in highschool to adulthood is hormonal/horny (it’s not like nerds don’t have sex and only the quarterback bangs the cheerleaders - everyone kinda wants love or a relationship - with the exclusion of Aro/ace : which may be looking for platonic relationships not sexual.) Nerds being ‘kinky’ or whatever isn’t really exclusive either. (you may have the more jock types doing roleplay in the full outfits with cheerleaders because that’s a common interest of both of them the sport/cheer being role play or casual sex or kinky sex it just depends on the person not their ‘label’ of nerd jock etc… it’s a little stereotypical but it does happen. // while for nerds/geeks/band their common interests are different they may not want the ‘let’s role play as cheerleaders with pompoms or jocks with muscles’ because that’s not as engaging or enjoyable if you’ve been bullied by those people-> instead it’s a let’s role play as our interests and things we like : say ‘accurate as possible 12-13th ce maidens and knights who are flirting with looking proper for society and fierce intensity of passions// almost making the role play rom com shit or historical fantasy’ whatever the interest is you have have 2 nerds have a 6 hour conversation about it or enough time to boink about it. Reading plays a part in how the fantasy’s are set up, movies and tv shows can also contribute either dramas, documentaries, or even anime etc… there’s reference/source materials to engage the brain and then go ‘hey what if we… yada yada.’ It’s more about finding a partner with similar interests. Band geeks tended to be freakier because there’s easier ways to hang out and get some alone time -> (band geeks have band camp have band rehearsals, classes, afterschool meetings, and even off campus events where they perform as a group and often have time to relax inbetween… band camp can be a week to 4 weeks to a full summer that’s a lot of time in a campground to find a person to hook up with and get some privacy… in class you find someone you like and talk about common interests like instruments and music theory etc… maybe schedule a time to practice together if there’s a difficult piece and one thing can lead to another… or there’s the off campus events (performing as a group is fun) many off campus events I went on for chorus not even band had me on a 3 hour bus ride to competitions where we would stay the full day in various places. My choir group when to an amusement park at one point because that’s where they were hosting a choir competition - imagine being a horny kid with a little bf or gf and not only performing to hopefully do well but then being told ‘hey go run around the amusement park in groups return at like idk 5pm for dinner and then there’s a 3 hr bus ride back’ - that’s a set up to a gd date and you didn’t even need to pay to go on the trip or tickets to get into the event you just had to perform for a few minutes for a completion… shit was awesome I hung out with friends but Ik many people hooked up going on rollercoasters getting snacks or playing games or just finding a bench to make up not to mention there was a water park section. It depends on the group and what things are available. My science Olympiad group did well enough to go to state competitions another few hour bus ride to then compete in scientific competitions and then breaks in a break room or just walking around the area hanging out. Mathletes have the same deal same with other nerdy groups. Geeks can 100% go to a comic con or go to a ren fair or anything else but they may have to pay money for those events while the others are free… Theatre kids weren’t even mentioned but as someone in those groups you understand how meet ups rehearsals and performances play a part in that or how theatre summer camps or even church productions or local productions etc can play a part. As adult you can do a let’s go to rehearsal then a bar sorta thing while kids it’s more ‘let’s meet up to talk about our lines and idk get McDonald’s etc’

    It takes all the fun out of the show when people have to criticize and deconstruct to show they think the know more than the person in the show
