    I appreciate your tutorials. I've been experimenting with DOF and macro photography, with the goal of copying slides and negatives to digital. Have you done any tutorials on this? I have a slide copier and I'm concerned with texture of the light diffuser showing through the slides.

    Really cool video once again, thanks I'm gonna try this technique! The grading on this video is a bit strange tho. Color matching between both cameras is rather convincing, but the end result looks all off including skin tones.

    Hi! I tried to shoot couple of these with my OM-D E-M5. The thing I am missing from the segment with E-M10 is: TURN THE IN-BODY IMAGE STABILISATION OFF! Otherwise the stabilisation might damp your movement at the start. Or even better, and that is my bonus tip: turn it on IN THE DIRECTION PERPENDICULAR to the direction of the pan. This will give you much straighter lines than without IBIS.

    That polaroid back made me remember something. Hard to do these days. LOL Get a regular polaroid camera that spits out the photo. As it is developing use your fingernail or the round end of a pen cap and move the emulsion around to get a nice abstract photo. BTW Tony, at the beginning of the video it show what kind of building it was used for, is that where you guys met? ;-) LOL

    if yer using it JUST for this tutorial, id imagine any cheap one would be fine. as you dont need crystal clear clarity, nor would you be overly worried about color shifts. but by one thats works well enuf for your base ISO for yer cam sensor... cheslea and her d810 had iso 64, and tonys olymus em10 had iso 200, and he could have used a stronger nd filter than what he had for a bit more freedom

    You helped me make the decision to buy the Sony A7, my first digital camera. So this past weekend I went to Best Buy to finally get the camera after months of research, it so happened that the rep and/or salesman for Sony was at the store and he told me that maybe I should wait because in early 2015 Sony will come out with an A7 MK-II. Have you heard any such rumors or do you believe that its possible?

  • @AlokSomani

    @AlokSomani

    The Sony A7 Mark II will actually be available in the next week. Check out Sony's website; they have the new A7 listed for pre-order with an estimated ship date of December 8th. Keep in mind though, with the new A7 II coming in at the old A7's price, we might see some good deals on the old A7. I'd wait for a few reviews to come in on the A7 II to make your decision.

What is compelling to me though, is that you're all striving to help everyone achieve better results in photography. cheers

    I have two point and shoot 3 sony cameras that can go full manual to do this effect. As a matter of fact, most point and shoots can go manual, but it can be complicated to find the option. Also, ANY DLSR ca do EXACTLY this type of shoot. Or, are you just hating on Canon.

    This is definitely a time when you'd need an ND filter... there are lots of times when you might need an ND filter... but most people will never use this technique, or wouldn't find it worth the ~$60 cost of the filter.
