I have watched so many Uncle Rodger videos at this point, and this one is my absolute favorite lmao the amount of chaos and trying to impress someone you look up to is so fun to watch

Rememeber, if you get a brand new metal wok, they often come with a factory sealant on them. You need to heat your wok on high and let the sealant burn off, do this right side up and upside down so the entire wok gets super heated. Clean and reheat again, then season with oil till the oil starts to smoke on all parts of the wok. Rinse out the oil and you should be good to go. A well seasoned wok is key to good cooking with it. Do not use it right off the shelf or everything will stick and burn. Also keep your wok oiled when stored to prevent corrosion.

You do this for cast iron pans as well, and some tortilla presses/waffle irons. Basically almost all cooking implements before the age of Teflon.

You have to burn your wok with til its brown/black before first use or else it will be sticky. Also if you want to cook an egg in the wok the steps are; Heat up the wok with oil whilst rolling it around Get rid of the oil in a little bowl Heaten up the wok again til u see white smoke Add the old oil again into the wok and reheat til warm again Enjoy non sticky wok for all your needs :)

That only applies to an iron wok. That's a stainless steel wok though, it will never become non-stick. It's not even a real wok.

What I do is cut off a bit of ginger and use it to rub it all over the wok. It's a trick we do before we fry fish so it doesn't stick to the wok. I don't know if it works with other fried stuff, but I'm imagining it does. XD

That's the think some people don't understand. There's many types of sambal. As the one used in the video, sambal ulek is from Indonesian. The sambal uncle Roger always mention is sambal belacan. Also in India also have sambal but they called it Sambar.

@@Hellomynameisrid stir fry dishes was brought in by the Chinese immigrants. 1) fried rice origin is from China. 2) nasi goreng aka fried rice in Indonesia, was made famous by the Indonesian Chinese. it's ok to say nasi goreng from Indonesia. Don't forget Malaysia also have nasi goreng. So it's not fair to say nasi goreng is from Indonesia only.

This time discuss with him what food/ dishes that he want to eat, announce to him that you all practice the said dish (give a certain time of amount; maybe 1 month to practice). Along the way, do a (or some) videos about you practicing cooking the dish and try to get an honest opinion from your friends (other KZreadrs also can). And then when you're ready, invite Uncle Roger again. I'd love to see that.

Fighting like this is very healthy and you all handled it maturely. The worse is when you keep all your anger and resentment for each other inside and it explodes in a plethora of arguing about "this time" and "that time". Best to acknowledge at the time and place and squash at the time before it marinates and gets worse.

I know nasi goreng is Indonesia's national dish but these countries also eat nasi goreng and they also call it nasi goreng. I'm malaysian and been to Indonesia and lemme tell you one of the best fried rice I ever had was in Indonesia Nasi Goreng Kambing Kebon Sirih.. I had it for dinner on my first day in Jakarta.. pls tell me where else in Indonesia have the best nasi goreng.. i would love to visit

Yes it's true! But the 1 thing for sure, only Indonesian fried rice using kecap manis, while other versions are not. Kecap manis originated from Java island. As for the best nasi goreng in Jakarta, indeed the nasi goreng kambing Kebon Sirih is the best. If you visit Tangerang, you need to try to visit Pasar Lama aka Old Market. There are tons of good fried rice there. The famous one is Nasi Goreng Gila Pasar Lama. Or you can try Nasi Goreng Gila Obama in Jakarta. It is famous because Obama used to eat there often.
