Importing and operating a Chinese rock crusher

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

So I bought this from eBay of all places and had it shipped in from the factory in China. The crushing size is about 14X8 but that is going to depend on what you are crushing and how big the opening is set at the bottom. The machine is powered by a one cylinder Chinese diesel motor that has proven to be reliable so far. Their air cleaner is a joke so plan on rigging your own. Also it is water cooled but lacks a cap (or even a cover) and they expect you to drain the water out each time when you are done. Because I think it is only a matter of time before i forgot and froze the thing I run antifreeze in it. Because the coolant tank is a big open hole rock dust settles in there, I will have to come up with a solution for that. I ran the thing with loose belts for a while to insure it would stall out without damage if anything went wrong but once I got comfortable with it those were tightened back up.
Besides some loose jaw clamps that had to be reground the only serious issue was the keyway mismatch between the crankshaft and pulleys. Two different sizes. Luckily we noticed the pulleys were moving on the shaft and cut some custom keyways because that would have wrecked both the shaft and the pulleys in very short order. Not a hard fix but not one that most people would think to check until too late. I would be sure to check that on any machine from now on. Beyond that I have fabricated a crappy little rock cage to keep stones from crashing down on the motor and converted it to grease from oil because of the mess it was making.
Importing means dealing with a bunch of paperwork and customs crap where you are always waiting on people in another country. Each time I contacted them there was yet another little fee tacked on. Sounds and feels like a racket but it is apparently what to expect unless you are a big importer. Just budget another 20-30% shipping on top of whatever they quote you. We picked our crusher up from the port itself in Washington. If you are going to have it drop-shipped that will also be extra.
So far I haven't been overly impressed with the build quality but it isn't far from what I expected. The jaws are reversible (supposed to be anyway) and I am sure I will be able to flip them but since they are not uniform it will take some modification. I have no idea where to get replacements if they ever wear out but so far that hasn't been and issue. The rock we are crushing is crazy hard so I expect less durability than those in other environments.
When I started this I was originally going to buy from Baker Mountain Mining and Metals. They have a number of videos here and buying from them would give you some peace of mind when it comes to parts and inspections. Sometimes I still wish I had just paid and bought from them even myself, but as a cheap bastard... I didn't. Anyway be sure to check them out first. They seemed like knowledgeable guys. Link below.

I am not sure you could find anything not Chinese. Probably $6000 to functional or about half of what you could get one in the states. Even that would just be another Chinese model just higher quality maybe and with some service options. Having run it i think unless you have a need for a small unit for your own purposes you ste miles ahead just having your rock trucked away or gravel delivered. If you like dicking around with stuff like this like I do then ok. It will never "pay" for itself, too slow, too much of your time.

Those are now hard to find, but will probably also get more available in the small sizes. Thanks for sharing! Well you certainly like punishing yourself crushing rocks, Maybe you should buy a licence plate stamping machine and an orange jump suit to L.O.L. I think if I was doing any amount of crushing with that machine I'd figure out a hopper if the machine would take it, and load the rock pile with the rear bucket on the backhoe, at least you'd be sitting down for a while . I'd guess that other company spends a lot of time going through and fixing/ modified the machines for their money. I used to be a dealer for Russian made Belarus tractors, some of those were interesting with quality control to! I've been told the Chinese build one machine/part to many different price levels, the more expensive they get the less crap they are. so yours might be the $400 version, but if you have the $1500 one it will be way better or even perfect. Thanks for the video's you definitely aren't afraid to try different things and show the world how it turns out, good or bad. Take care

@@davidwillard7334If you buy a hard working machine like a "Rock crusher" for $400 thats made in China and is totally unreliable crap that needs improvement or constant fixing. When the $1500 one works right and is reliable It answers it's self how much a guy should really spend. I still work fixing heavy equipment thats basically worn out . It costs a guy a fortune and it still isn't worth the time or money afterwards. They'd of been better putting the money in another machine that was worth it, and been happy at the end. Those guys are operating on a totally false economy trying to save money, thats actually costing them more in lost time/ production and profit later . I'd bet if the time taken and the costs were put in on this job at true hours/ value it's not worth crushing the free rock there. Truck loads in many area's are probably cheaper from a large industrial machine and just spread it where it's needed ,and use the saved time to do something else.

@@acme663ryo Thanks for the reply. I thought that the terrain and vegetation looked familiar. I've passed through there numerous times traveling between Port Angeles, WA, and a commercial property that I own in Polson, MT. I used to own a commercial property in Kalispell too; but I sold it this Fall and acquired a little over half a section east of Clinton, just past the Beavertail exit. There's a few lifetimes of rock-cracking opportunities on that acreage, which is why I am watching crusher videos and reviewing other sources of information. I found your candid review and opinions quite helpful. I'm leaning toward purchasing an MBMM 16x10. I was already inclined to buy American, but found the price difference of Chinese crushers was tempting. However, the frustrating communications process with the Chinese just to get a price quote already had me leery of going that route. Your experience with poor quality and importation hassles, particularly undisclosed fees, definitely has me now favoring the MBMM product. Their website states, and their recent videos seem to confirm, that they manufacture their own brand of crushers right here in WA. I intend to visit the factory in person before I make the final purchasing decision. In the meantime, I'm watching a few used crusher auctions up for bids online. Thanks for posting your video and being open and frank about your experience.

to answer the question how to make money with it. start mining a lode mine hire crushing out to gold miner jaw crushers are very notorious at spitting rock out the top. it's part of the fun of one. I have many years working with rock crushers in rock quarries. crushed rock is cheap. the money is made by volume. not really sure why you spent $4k to crush you small amount of rock, but hey it's your thing. that crusher should do at least 10 yards an hour. do not feed it with a conveyor. you need a feed tray. but you should put a conveyor under the truck. to answer another possible question. like I said that crusher looks to be max 10 yard per hour. to sell crushed rock you need at least a 75 yard per hour. plus you need screening equipments. right now it looks like you are making inch and half minus. with a lot of minus. through adjusting I would guess your crusher can make 1/4 to 2 inch.
