I love how in the Legends continuity over a hundred years later the Imperial Knights look is based on the Royal Guards, their function as well I guess, except the Imperial Knights were basically Gray Jedi.
@HonestHappyHater

Yang the Magician Not exactly grey Jedi. Grey Jedi tries to keep balance in the Force, by any means necessary. While Imperial Knights don't care about balance, their only purpose is to serve the Emperor. And to kill him if he turns to the Dark Side
The shadow guards need to be canon again.

While it's not explicitly stated, I get the feeling that the new canon imperial guards exist to defend Palpatine from Vader. Just my theory, but I noticed that they're usually shown fighting Jedi, protecting force artifacts, or watching Vader in his tank.

Excellent video, totally enjoyed! 💯
Thank you for making this video. These guys have been the most mysterious figures in Star Wars to me.
Crimson Empire was and still is amazing, an updated Canon version would be awesome. "Guards! Leave us." As both guards retire to their quarters one keeps a close eye on events, when they start to go wrong for the Emperor he abandons his post and flees the death star amid the chaotic battle of endor. Jump forward to see the last few royal guards on Yinchorr where they discover the identity of the guard who deserted the Emperor above Endor. The academy, rigged with explosives, blows up killing all but one man: Kir Kanos. Kanos goes on a manhunt for the traitor he now knows is Carnor Jax.

Great Video
Crimson Empire was THE first Star Wars comic that I read. I remember reading it in the school library multiple times and it took me over 10 years to get the second two and read them. Kir Kanos is one of my all time favourite Star Wars characters, and I loved the story about how the Red Guard were trained. I thought it was a really good system.
I love this channel. I have to say, Legends is more interesting to me.

Morden Grey Me too.
Need a series focused on them!
The Imperial Royal Guards are my favorite faction in Star Wars and I always wished they would have gotten a fight scene. At least the Preatorion Guards got one. I would Really like to have their red tie fighters back. I'm also fine with the variants but I always liked the normal all red outfit compared to the other varients.
I wish there was more information on Dr Cylo's guards from the Darth Vader comic, because they looked cool.
I've always wanted like a Telltale star wars game about a stormtrooper that becomes a royal guard. Starting with him or her being just a stormtrooper, getting selected for the academy, going through the training, and becoming a royal guard. I would want to see the interaction between the selected and how they feel about various things in the galaxy, the Empire, the Jedi, etc. I think there would be a lot of potential there for a great story telling game.
If you watch the scene from the Star Wars Rebels finale with the Royal Guards, they seem to be speaking an alien language of sorts. Perhaps that's their secret language made canon?
It should be noted that Snoke had at least a version of or something at least inspired by the royal guard as his personal protectors in the Last Jedi, although they are armed with only lightsaber like weapons rather than force pikes or blasters.
The Royal Guards used their battle language, albeit very briefly, in the Rebels series finale.
What about the 'Saber Guard'? I heard them mentioned and looked them up a while back, can't remember much about them, but they wear armour that is similar to the Guards mentioned in this video.
One of the things I liked from Legends was that the Imperial Guard would do tours of combat in Red Stormtrooper Armor. There's a nod to this with the Sith Troopers in 'The Rise of Skywalker' but I wouldn't mind if they popped up in the Darth Vader comic or a video game.
There was another variant of the Royal Guard in canon, final episodes of Rebels shows this variant. Might wanna add or check it out!
I wanna know more about those force pikes that were seen in Rebels. Also I wonder what variant of Royal Guard we saw in that scene from Season 4
What about the Royal Guards appearance in the finale of Star Wars Rebels? They were cloakless and seemed to use some kind of new ability with their force pikes when they levitated Ezra and other objects.
Fun facts: If you think that the red guard is the same as royal guard you wrong. Red guard is more like trooper that was seen to be most trusted and loyalty, They got promoted without any training like Royal guard.
Awesome video! Can you do all Canon Strormtrooper variants?😆😆😆
It might be we also need to hear about the history of the praetorian guards and see if they are of the same connection of the Royal guards
Hello I like the talking thing they use in rebel’s what’s that called

Their mouths?
You didn't mention the guards seen in the finale of rebels. I know they were the same as regular royal guards but wore different helmets and didn't have the cloaks for combat restriction reasons.
The silent Red Guards,They remind me of a deadly version of a British Guards in England.
What were those weapons they used against Ezra? Were they some kind of anti gravity projectors used to hold a victim in midair?
@shadowstar5810
6 жыл бұрын
Darth Marder Sith Juggernaut I think they were force pikes.
The yellow guy (1:56) was a Pokèmon master
A Rogue guard would be interesting to see, with a mixed worn armor (head piece and the cape )...and of course, a lightsaber pike.
What about the "praetorian" red guards??? When did they first make an appearance??? Were they just a show creation, meant as a one off variant or did they actually exist in universe???
how much time do you spend to find pictures?
Do you hve another channel i can sub to
Where they recruited from stormtroopers that actually hit a target?
what about the guards we saw in Rebels ?
I would love to hear about that one clone that made it.
Tie hunter pls
Which variants of the royal guards are capable of beating the inquisitors?
Were the royal guards in Rebels a variant (their helmets had a different design) or are they still the normal royal guards. Also, why didn’t you say anything about their awesome magic force pikes?
@zacharycondon1098
6 жыл бұрын
Tyler Ferron they were the same cloaks are expensive to animate, and everything looks a little different in rebels
0:40 those clones could very well be talking about the red colored senate clones that we see escort palpatine fairly often
It's funny you bring up Vibrostaffs in relation to Darth Maul, because in Star Wars: A New Hope Infinities, Luke and Han were confronted by Royal Guards who were armed with double-bladed lightsabers!
Wait you didn't show the uncloaked guard from rebels? :/
No mention of the guards with combat armor instead of robes in Rebels?
Who would win, The Grand Inquisitor or a Royal Guard?
Wait I’m confused I’ve read that the shadow guards listens to Vader and only Vader and trained by him as well.
Well hell there.
Well least we know in Rebels that the Imperial Guards did use literal force pikes. Seeing them fight though briefly was good to see.
There secret language was heard in the rebels finale. Royal guards are my favourite.
i like their training and I think the senate gaurd make a lot of sense
Surprised you didn’t mention the ninja type Royal Guards that popped up in Rebels

they just added holdo, rose and TR-8R to minecraft console. (and other sequel skins)
Carnor Jax had the coolest armor kit.
Who was disobeying the Empire?
These guys where THE COOLEST
What about the Saber Guards or the Senate Sentinels?
Can someone tell me there motto?
It's still unclear what it takes to be part of the Emperor's Royal Guard in the canon. The clone troopers may just be expressing their personal thoughts on the matter without any clue on the qualifications. They are grunts after all. Just because *a* clone was chosen into that position doesn't mean that any clone could do so. That particular clone could've been an ARC trooper or a commando and that's how he became skilled with the force pike and blade. As the Red Guard they can be seen in AOTC, so at the very least the early versions weren't made up of soldiers but of the Senate Commandoes. I'm surprised that you didn't mention their appearance in Rebels. It was a short and odd appearance too, barely lasting a minute before they were killed. Honestly, they could've been removed from the scene and it wouldn't change a thing.

Grand Admiral Thrawn where in aotc do they appear
I think that shadow guards and Inquisitors might have a sibling rivalry.
*YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEESSSSS!!!*
I would imagine that Palpatine would not have Force-sensitive guards in the new canon, much less train them in the Dark Side. No matter how conditioned they are, the Dark Side would corrupt them and they'd turn on him.
I hope they show us how powerful the royal guard is
I love the Sovereign Protectors
Personally I would love for Jinchor and the Imperial Sovereign Protectors to return to Canon. Kir Kanos and Carnor Jax where great characters and had the coolest look and weapons.
2:00 issa pokeball
Yes I agree make the shadow guard And all others Canon Then connect them to the Knights of ren
It’s already been 3 years, but you never talked about saber guards?
As I am currently saving up to buy the Crimson Empire Saga trilogy, in hardback, I would have loved to hear that the Imperial Sovereign Protectors were made cannon, and -- wishful thinking here -- were the ones protecting Snoke rather than ... well, nvm ...
Always thought it was funny how impractical their helmets were. They'd constantly have to do a Batman-esque full torso turn just to look around.
I hope we see the Shadow guards reappear in canon.
