While he doesn't make the rules he did alter the precedent for when and how a Supreme Court judge was picked. He denied Obama the ability to fill a vacancy saying it was too close to the elections, and then when it was even closer for Biden to be in office he pushed through another one for Trmp to decide.

That's not true. They told the prosecutors in that case that they wrongly charged the man with bribery when the crime he really committed was a gratuity. While similar in effect, these are two different legal crimes that cannot be interchangeably used. Bribery is paying someone up front for a political favor, while gratuity is doing someone a political favor for future profit. If the Court hadn't overturned that case, it would have severely messed up case law for future cases. The prosecutors are free to go back and bring the correct charges this time.

So Nixon was actually innocent according to the Supreme Court and did not have to resign. 😂

Yes - If this ruling has now made the President a king , as has been stated, then Biden is now king. As King, with absolute immunity for official acts, he should also officially declare that Trump is a danger to democracy and the rule of law. That he is also responsible for the deaths and injuries that occurred as a result of the insurrection on Jan. 6th and the thousands of deaths that occurred as a result of his intentional lying about the dangers posed by Covid.

You say that as if it is a bad thing. It was written 250 years ago where the most common mode of transport was shoe leather, only birds and bats flew in the air, it took three weeks to get from the UK to the US and months to get to the west coast from the east coast, communication was by letter written with a quill and took days to be delivered, firearms were muskets that needed to be reloaded after it was fired once. It is an outdated piece of paper that should be an exhibit in a museum, not a political bible that is revered as if it were sent by some higher power.

Sounds like it's time for term limits for the Supreme Court.

Agree 100%. More people voting for her would have given her the electoral votes. But remember that she DID win the popular vote. Enough people voted for her to win IMO. We just have a horrible electoral college system. AndTrump still whined about it because it meant that more people actually wanted her than him.

Now I want to know what is an official proceeding. The court is very vague and the way that it framed its decision, anything the president does would be considered as an official proceeding. If the President uses his authority as the commander in chief to order the CIA to assassinate a Congressman or a Congresswoman, would that be an official proceeding? We can run out the idea of staying in power after Jan 20 because the Constitution is clear that anything an incombent president does after his term is not considered as an official proceeding anymore. But the fact that a president can use his executive authority to do whatever he likes without caring about criminal law is scary.

@@SupportTheArts-yo8oxquestion… since scotus has now ruled that as long as the president says he is acting under official duties (is all that he has to say), then can’t Biden make an executive order stating that for the safety of democracy, he is stepping over other executive branches to put in 4 more justices. That in his official duty as president is to act on the better of the country. He is now assigning 4 more justices to save this country from kingship. Since trump can tell pence to stop the electorial count and scotus says that trump was acting in official duty to ask that of pence. Then Biden should be able to claim his executive order is official duty in adding to the court to save the country and the constitution that he took an oath to uphold???? I pray that Biden gets re-elected and that dems take complete majority over both house and senate. Then Biden can get 4 more justices on the court and set term limits and then those justices can over rule this ruling. Law should be enacted that we the people vote in the justices and that they can only run for two terms. We are living under dictatorship with scotus being able to tell its people what can and can not be done and nothing can be done about it, as long as corrupt majority who can impeach them refuse to. Why have a president when there is really no power the president has to end this?!!
