Good comparison video!. If u end up using repop which is what i was stuck with doing. You would want to run the speed nuts or acorn nuts all the way on the letter before install. Let them cut into the chrome shaft and thread it. Otherwise the letter will be moving on the quarter panel and possibly scratch the paint.

Used to do the same thing - buy the small parts when I could find them then look for days because I couldn't remember where I put them. In the car might be easier so you don't have to set up fuel system, etc. Pluses and minuses either way. Not likely you'll have any trouble with that engine - you did a very thorough job putting it together. Looking forward to hear it fire up!

Solid proof that NOS is better than the repo stuff , you would think with modern technology they would make them better now but they won't . The engine looks great , your attention to the details is really paying off .

The NOS are made out of die-cast zinc, ( pot metal ). It polishes like a mirror. The repop's are probably stamped steel and may rust. Touch a magnet to them to know for sure.

you can make a test stand from an engine stand , just have to make a rectangle at the base of it for the engine mount uprights ( they go to the engine mounts)

Cool info, Sam. Build a run in stand. Not hard to build, cheap and makes life easier if you need to work out some bugs.

Sam you really don't need the engine run stand. I always just drop it in the engine bay. It isn't that big a deal pulling it out again if you have a problem. The LS I put into the Chevelle has been in and out several times to fit the engine mounts etc. It may come out again lol hope not but hey it is what it is. I can't wait to see your engine running ;)

Hi Sam just caught your video some food for thought don't run on stand until you are close to finishing the car water pump an engine will rust up internally just sitting around also fuel will begin to breakdown in fuel system I've run engines on ground oil pressure gauge and temp gauge garden hose in lower radiator hose in pump jump start an let run lol

Sam you must have a speed shop around with an engine test stand to use for most likely once , can't imagine they would charge a lot to test it out .

Aftermarket parts are junk! If you have to use them, maybe try supergluing a piece of plastic over the bump to make it more pronounced.

The bolt is 1 5/16" Long with a captured washer, 3/8" X 16 thread with a 9/16" head. Hope that helps.
