Immune System, Part 2: Crash Course Anatomy & Physiology #46
In the penultimate episode of Crash Course Anatomy & Physiology, Hank explains your adaptive immune system. The adaptive immune system's humoral response guards extracellular terrain against pathogens. Hank also explains B cells, antibodies, and how vaccines work.

Thank you so much for making these amazing videos. I used to watch these when I was taking A&P in undergrad. Now, I rewatch them as a refresher course for Advanced Pathophysiology. Still helpful as ever!

This and the other Immune System videos are some of the best in the whole A & P series. Great explanations and animations to describe adaptive immune responses to specific germs on a systemic level. Thank you!
You are incredibly awesome. Your videos got me through graduate anatomy and phys 1 and now i'm in part 2! the little cell faces are SO cute and everything you do to put these together are wonderful and soooo beneficial!!
Can't thank you guys .... appreciated n please don't Stop doing this job.... an awesome job ...... thank you
Wow, you make it so easy to understand this complex system. Thank you for saving my grades.
I have to say, i have been struggling with this for 2 days, this video made so much sense. Thank you so much!
thank you guys for this. Thank God for this youtube channel. this has helped me tremendously prepare for my advanced pathophysiology class! you guys make dense information sound so fun!
This is a great series!
Animation was so cute, so accurate and Hank is so charming... LOL I always 'like' these videos before even starting 😙
I have watched dozens of Crash Course videos for the past year. Everything from chemistry psychology and anatomy and physiology. This three-part series on immunity is by far the best. Hysterical and easy to understand thanks for you guys it's time for making memes.
thank you so much! this is uber helpful
Who else wishes there could be some kind of cartoon animation series telling the heroic stories of our bodies' cells battles with germs? These animations are toooooooooooooo cool!!
4:32 Actually not entirely accurate. Activation by T-independent antigens is weaker and does not result (usually) in immunologic memory (in contrast to T-dependent antigens which gives a stronger response, resulting in the development of immunologic memory). But I guess they wanted to keep it simple.

Wow ... this is the best system Crash Course has covered. VERY easy to comprehend considering how complex the immune system can be. I just emailed this to my anatomy professor. Well done, please keep these kind of videos coming!!
omg, a three part series on the immune system?! my immuno final was yesterday lol Immunology was probably one of the toughest classes I've had to take, along with biochem and cell bio (immunology was the most difficult). I loved the class but hated getting tested on it, just because there are a lot of mechanisms not shown in the video. EITHER WAY yayyy I'm so glad people get to be primed with this video from here on out. This was long over due :D
Cells: I remember *EVERYTHING* Me: I can’t remember for my anatomy test :(
Gonna miss this series, I learned a lot. Thanks so much for all you do Crash Course. Also scrolled down looking for anti-vaxxers, I'll admit it
I love learning, and I love these videos! This is more entertaining than some sitcom.

The animation and explanations for this video is the best ever. Perfect analogies and clear animations well done crash course :)))
Hank, where is the video on the mammary glands? I thought that they would be covered as part of the reproductive system videos but they are barely mentioned. Why is a defining feature of mammals largely absent from a course on human anatomy and physiology? I can think of reasons but I would prefer to hear your explanation on the matter.
can you please make an episode about vaccines, their advantages and disadvantages .. and give a general idea about the myths like "vaccines cause autism" and so ..!! :D
@enfantterrible456

Not a "myth" anymore. On August 27, 2015 dr. William Thompson who is a senior scientist and epidemiologist at the CDC through a whistleblower attorney released documents stating that the cdc lied about the connection between the MMR vaccine and autism in their 2004 article in the Journal Pediatrics. Check it out!
