I wonder how many of the people that he sold to but also gave some free watches too weren't just part of the ruse, acting, and that might also be the so called "investors"?

I would never purchase above retail no matter how bad I wanted a watch. Folks are paying double or more for a watch and that's pure stupidity. Most grey market watches are sources from unrealiable and untrustworthy entities. The true test when the buyer sends their watch in for service and learn it's stolen..... let the buyer beware and please only buy from a AD. end of story.

If the Dutch Irish guy didn’t have the YT income I’d imagine they would be in serious trouble within next 12-18 months with their watch business 📉Expensive new fancy office, 20+ staff, 2 luxury cars etc etc.

He is going to go to jail….. It was obvious how this would end. The maths here are pretty simple. There isn’t the volume or margin. You can get rich with large volumes and small margins, or high margins and low volumes. But the watch resale market is low margins and low volumes. It was never going to work.

I seen a ton of his videos and he seemed to only be making 2 to 4k per watch. That's nothing. With several employees and flying here and there, that's trash money.

Sales/profit margins are close in the used market. It's becoming less and less with the market today. By "Market" it's really Rolex steel sports professional, AP Royal Oak, Patek Philippe Nautilus/Aquanaut. That's about it... that's the so called "Market". Every other brand is obtainable, and can be bought at an AD, no waitlist. Like you said most sales can make dealers $500 - $2000 depending how low they buy a watch before reselling. Roman, and CRM have been in the watch business for over 20 years. They will tell you it's not easy and it took a hype market to get them where they're today. Most dealers are private individuals and keep their stores away from social media.

I don't mind gray market. But only for buying. I got 3 watches off Chrono24, 2 private owners, 1 a brick and mortar reseller in HK. Fully safe. I would never consign to anyone though. I'm fully capable of selling my own watch locally. Or at worst on Chrono etc. Then again, I don't sell anything because I only buy keepers for life. The first 2 are discontinued pieces 15-20 years old. So can't go AD. The last one from Hong Kong is a current model, but I saved a grand on a slider that was a few years old. Couldn't be happier with my purchases. Always felt I got good deals and paid under market by a bit. (I shop and research for years and know everything there is to know about what I want and what the pricing ranges are.)

Even on Chrono or Ebay it's amazing to me that so many people are willing, apparently, to part with tens of thousands of dollars based on one or two (maybe blurry) pictures and a half-assed description. If anything goes south, how much hassle is there going to be getting your money back?

I would not be using Sharf or CRM as examples. They might be selling and buying watches but they have no class. And I would have nothing to do with them.

Here's what I'm most concerned about..... that people think they are exposing the person who admitted the problem/issue/crime etc. Whats frustrating now is that people make more news based on opinions not facts and actual evidence. As a community sure we don't want to get scammed, but lets at least be real for a minute please. If it didn't happen to you directly it's kinda pointless to put your 2 cents in. These financial crimes happen all of the time. People want more, figure a way to get more, it's usually not legal, and eventually they get caught. Can accept that as its been happening for hundreds of years. What is new though is the incessant need to make commentary about it and assert that your opinion after and outside the fact is not only newsworthy and informative but meaningful. People will take.... thats human nature period. We used to be able to look at that and learn from that on our own without the commentary. My hope is that this community of people who enjoy watches do not become Karens. Then perhaps i can go back to watching normal Watch reviews with a smile on my face. Oh, and I checked.... some of you who are ripping this guy the most were his biggest supporters and left great comments about him like 2 months ago. Interesting how the tune has changed now.

Sorry, Serge, but those skin tags on your neck are SO distracting. Perhaps wearing a collared shirt would eliminate the issue. No one except a total stranger will be this honest with you, so if you don't choose to wear a different shirt, go ahead and have the tags removed. You work in a visual medium where physical presentation is an essential component. No hard feelings...this comment is only intended to offer constructive advice.

He admitted in his videos to stealing 5 million dollars in his clients watches. He admitted to it, it also takes time to go to jail. It could take years to get prison time for financial crimes. He didn't steal by force, he did it by not paying people back. Those crimes take time to prove, but he will be going to prison eventually.

@@gpajehe did not admit to stealing. He admitted to debt. He may get charged, he may not. These are not simple crimes to prove/prosecute. Not defending him,mhe definitely committed crimes, but they may not be able to arrest him and he did not admit to theft. And we do not have enough info. Many think they do, but they do not.

@@AcmeRocket He admitted to fraud, faking the robbery to hide his "debt" That is a crime, along with various other things, he is on his 7th DUI won't help him either. Like I said, it will take probably years to get him in prison, but likely he will end up there.
