@@xolove7288 Somalis had mutually beneficial treaties with the Italians, British, and French, the 'colonization' of Somalis was limited to the coastline and their treatment was not comparable to that of the rest of the African continent. That and the fact that the interior of Somalia was lways and is to this day off limits to foreigners and inhabited by hostile clans. Somalis have always been autonomous, it was a colony on paper resulting in the creation of fanciful maps used to bolster the colonial powers façade of influence the region.

She was the first woman I ever admired who took time to reach out and mentor me and extend her friendship when I was a young girl newly working on TV in NYC. I met her at an event and trailed across the room just to introduce myself and say hello and honor her for what a role model and inspiration she was to me. Later that evening amidst this big fabulous dinner she came to me and gave me her number and said "In my culture it is the job of the older woman to mentor and extend ourselves to be there for the younger." I was speechless. I cry even remembering her gentle kindness and her grace. Every time I saw her after it was always a wonderful occasion. She is EVERYTHING! And a truly sincere woman! Kisses to you Iman. I keep you always in my heart and prayers. OXOXO ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Yup. Iman Beauty doesn't get the credit it deserves.
My mother saw her in a museum in Vegas in the 90s and said she was the most beautiful woman she’d ever seen. She just had an aura and it was incredible
when i think about supermodel i think about iman. i’m a teenage somali girl and iman really showed representation in the somali/modelling community! 😌
i came here after re-watching iman's interview in naomi's channel. she said back then the make up always made her face look grey because there's no correct foundation for her skin color. the make up artist didn't provide the foundation and she had to buy it herself. even so, she never find the right shade for her tone, so she had to mix different kind of foundations. that inspired her to make a make up line that can cater to POC without being ashy as a result.
I am 55 and during the late 70's and 80s I was trying to find my identity, what beauty was, what black beauty was etc. We as young black girls didnt see representation in the fashion magazines and on runways mostly until Iman. Thank you for helping me find myself and showing me how to define my own kind of beauty back then. It was a pleasure taking this journey with you down memory lane. I loved you then and still love you to this day. Thanks for the memories!

She knows fashion and art. It truly was about the designer and look, and not just about her, although I could listen to her talk about her life for hours.

I love how she refers to herself as a "girl". She is genuine and lovely.
She’s still one of my all time favorite models. She’s so effortlessly elegant.
The synergy between Iman and YSL is iconic.
She’s an icon, class, elegance, sense of humor. My role model!!
I don’t care what anyone says, this is the single most beautiful human to have come out of the era of “supermodels”.
Love her laugh and her sense of humor. She's absolutely stunning!
The idea she had for the 1999 vogue millennium issue is epic! Thanks diva for rocking your curls!
She was the Egyptian Queen in MJ's Music video... STILL that queen. I love her 😍😍😍😍

5:50 My favorites of these videos are the ones where they see a picture and immediately start talking about their memories of the people in it or the events of that night rather than the outfit. 🤗
I love the fact she let her hair show for that photoshop. Being a natural I really appreciate it even more now seeing it in the millennium. Thanks Iman

Why do people always refer to black people as “well spoken” 🤔 If she was white or Asian would you have said that? Nothing like a compliment with a dash of racism🙃

Correct me if I’m wrong but i feel like supermodels back then had to really be on top of their game. Hence how articulate she is. I feel like today’s models are more relaxed
I love how elegant and humble Iman is. She’s like a breath of fresh air ❤️
Iman is one of those women who simply get better with age. You can see how her confidence has grown in each photo, and her beauty grew with it I love her the most 💖
She literally has gotten better with age. She’s 65 and easily stunts on over half of the models currently working.
Not only is she a timeless beauty, she's graceful and smart. Love her
Such an awesome session! I really enjoyed this.
She has ALWAYS been...Regal... Like she said..Her "signature" slow walk down the runaway...was born out of...fear.. Bt...it worked for her so well!!!.... ❤️😎👍
