I was more impressed by your awesome surroundings than the light itself even if thats also very cool.
This light is a beast but the EC06 in terms of price for performance is still the daddy of 2022 for me. The imalent is like over x4 the price but not x4 the performance. Just shocks me how it can still hold its own against lights with much higher lumens even with its 26000 lumen output.

Excellent video Matt. I very much like the light output. However, not the fans. I think that they would drive me more mental than I am already. Nice to see that you found a timetable. I haven't been able to buy any flashlights for a while, lack of funds. Also finding space for the 200 that I already have. Keep up the good work mate.

I'm in a minority with the fan 😆 It allows you to spam turbo and run approx 11,000 lumens constantly. Epic!

I don’t have the MS18, it looks pretty incredible, I’m debating now between the MS18 and this MS12 I love how compact this thing is, the 18 is pretty hefty. What would you recommend John?? I’m leaning a bit more toward the MS18 just because I will regret not buying it if any laws are made forcing it off the market.

@@Oracheuety the IMALENT MS18 is pretty big. I carry it with the shoulder strap and I’ve added a strap for cameras that goes around my wrist that I can tighten up. Insurance that I won’t drop it if I’m not supporting it with the shoulder strap. It’s a great search light and the beam is very broad and even which is nice for nighttime photography. The new light appears to have a brighter hot spot beam in the center, giving it a good solid throw. If you want something you could conceivably stuff into a jacket pocket this new light is probably your best bet. But for an impressive conversation piece, the big one does impress people! Maybe go with a IMALENT MS08 in addition to the MS18 as it has a fan cooling shroud and easily fits into a pocket. In actual use, you probably won’t see much difference in the lighting from that versus new MS12 Mini flashlight. The MS08 also has a pretty even broad light pattern. Or, get the new IMALENT RS50 if you want something MS08-sized with more throw from the center of the beam. i bet you cant make another flashlight which will not just burn but cook my hand in seconds! imalent: hold my boosted PCB yeah nah nah nah i love it! all my fancy new lights getting so hot that they are useless in turbo mode for longer than 20 seconds. still love them all. and i promise this will be the last light i buy. yes... the last. i am sure. maybe a little on later. 😅
Imalent really needs to include a MOONLIGHT mode on these beast lights. 2lm, 50lm, 200lm, 2klm, 6klm, 10klm, 20k, and then TURBO would be my suggestion; or, even better, let us program the thing to have exactly the power settings we want! Seriously, How hard would it be to just install an EEPROM and a usb micro port, or just a “programming mode” via morse code on the button. 😜

I’d be interested in that, too. Not sure what would be an ideal testing environment cuz of how „dirty“ water can be. I’m not a fisherman but I’d like to see if a flashlight can be sufficient for water rescue.

@@twph.5890 you are spot on about when water is cloudy sometimes the visibility is near to zero. Just like shining an MS18 when it’s thick foggy. But on clear water conditions, I have spotted marine life in night as deep as as 20 meter approx while standing on a wharf with just my Cheap Chinese knock off Flashlight (Ali express - xhp160). The same wouldn’t have been visible in bright daylight due to reflections even when wearing a polarised sunglasses. So yes definitely useful for many purposes to have a bright light that can show as deep as we can.

great video as always, sadly those fans are needed again. I have the DX80 and the K75 if it were not for the noisy fans i would definitely have one of these also. For me it kinda defeats the object of being out there in silence.

Imalent lists 70.2 Cree option and 70.3 Cree option on their website for the MS12 Mini. Do you know the difference between them?? It appears they only have the 70.2 version in stock on their website.

then maybe you should read it carefully. imalent keeps 9k flat for 42 minutes and x50.2 only 4.7k around 50 minutes. What do you think is the better result? The second thing is x50.2 and x75 with a low battery does not start Turbo, the flashlight goes out. In Imalent, you will run the turbo until the end of the battery
Which would you prefer above the other? Acebeam x50 or this imalent?

Q8 Pro around 15k with Vapcell green 2600mAh (they tested and it's like VTC5A/VTC6A). Relative to Sofirn Q8/BLFQ8 in ceiling bounce tests. But only for the first 5 seconds of coz. With the Sofirn Q8 3000mAh included in the packaged option, still able to hit 12-13k fresh cells.

@@clintonsienes507 @clinton sienes Haven't really tested it or came across similar testing, but i'd believe the Sofirn 3000mAh 18650 is basically a 10A battery at least, possibly a 15A one. But seriously there is really no difference between 15-16k vs 12-13k in the real world (20-25%), but for sure 15-16k dumps significantly more heat into the host due to the decreased emitter efficiency, just to get that extra 3k lumens. So i am not sure if that is recommended in majority of usage scenarios, other than that feel good factor when trying to measure lights in ceiling bounces. Check out the video, seriously in order to get any good visual jump in terms of output, you'd need 2X / 100% the lumens. 20% aint gonna cut it. :)

33k lumens claimed, JKK76 with 7 x SFN55.2 chinese LEDs and 3 x 21700, 500g+ host 71mm head diameter. I got mine at S$125 (just under usd 100) off Taobao. Issue is that not many people (or areas) can get it from TB. With 3pcs Samsung 40T around usd12.....shipped with the light it is possible to ship it over to some places.

With the JKK76 in both left and right hands, i guess usd 200 can get you to the same lumens ballpark as the Imalent MS12 mini. But total well over 1kg weight tho....... (I think 1.4kg total).
Great video as always, sadly those fans needed again, i have the DX80 and the Acebeam K75 but those fans always put me off these flashlights. For me it kind of defeats the object of being out there in silence.

The whole LOUD fan thing just ruins it as it always has with this model. When they figure out how to cool it down without sounding like an airplane flying over it will badass but till then its just lame AF. That was also the weakest 65k lumen ever. Has like zero throw. Greta review tho thanx
There gets to be a point where frankly, it's just plain dumb. I have an AstroliteM01 can type light with high CRI Nichia 219s that take 4 18650s in a 2S2P configuration that gets hot enough in Turbo mode. At around 100 bucks as I recall, I can't imagine needing anything else. I have several Convoy lights around the house and on the car including the L6. One of my favorites is the Emisar D4 also with Nichia 219s. It's ramping feature can't be beat... Best of all, for all the lights I mentioned, they are relatively affordable. Come on... Over 600 bucks for a flashlight?

They are aimed at search and rescue tbh. Over 10,000 lumens sustained for 48 mins with the fans is great for searching forrests or the sea from ships etc. Farmers can quickly scan a whole pasture with the turbo output to check on cattle etc.

And my big ass acebeam x70 puts out 5k lumens less which really isn’t that big of a difference but what gets me is this Imalent is so much smaller. Still don’t trust Imalent in any case and it’s not as pretty as my white mk38.

My MK38 is faulty 😔 but it does look and feel quality.
Attach it to a drone and let it fly over a town at night.

the lower the color temp,the higher the CRI, ( related to phospor coatiing/layering process of the emitter) the harder the driver to reach similar lumens, then it'll be hotter than hot. its a compromise though.. not only for the big lumens torch, but also the low lumens one. cheers🔦
I'm impressed with the output, no doubt ... but I'm still gonna go with the Manker , just for the looks alone . This Imalent is ugly imo .
