I love this guy. The design, the fact it's a crab, the weapons. However, it's a game where you hunt monsters, and when you have to hunt this monster, it really REALLY doesn't want you to.
This is Zenith Akura Vashimu, what happens when the MH Devs decide they want you to sweat and suffer. God, it's brilliant.

    Nah, keep it convoluted, because after all, you are basically cutting away one third of it's body and it's main source of attacks. Make the mechanic more simple and you end up making the monster into a joke.@@ashra2191

    @@ashra2191See. I dont think it should be simplified, for the most part. Removing the color changing blood part would be more than enough. After all, think about it. Akura, and there relatives, the ONLY monsters in the franchise, whose part break SEVERELY affects there movesets. Every other monsters who has a tail cut will, at best, lose abit of range in there tail attacks, and at worst, will lose the ability to inflict you with a status (rathian for example, in some cases). The Akura's however, you cut off there tail and the lose ALL of tail attacks, the ability to inflict the crystal base blight AND they constantly trip over themselves. Simplifying there tail cut to just...."cut it off" would make them incredibly easy. And while sure Akura's for the most part arent incredibly powerful endgame monsters, more in the mid to high mid tier, but still...removing there unique tail cut or heavily change it is like removing Espina's triple status fireball or his trait of always starting asleep and only waking up after persistent damage. Like I said before, simply removing and/or tweaking the color changing blood part is enough. And honestly other then that, its a pretty seamless and relatively easy tail cut once you know what your doing.

    I've been really enjoying these videos because they're effectively a glimpse into what awaits me 200 hours from now when I finally get to them in Frontier. Despite all the warnings signs, I'm even looking forward to trying out Zenith Akura here. Maybe I just don't have the full "appreciation" for its fight because I've never done it, but I like the idea that it has this overwhelming power to kick your ass, and you have to work extra hard to take away that power, but when you do you're rewarded for it with a monster that's had some of its most dangerous abilities nerfed or taken away. It feels like the concept of fighting monsters underwater except cranked up to 11 (as expected of Frontier.)

    One of the things that made the thing so annoying in the original iteration was another step for the tail cut, one that thankfully they got rid of in the Z version: Blood Color. After doing all breaks you had to ground the thing to a certain HP threshold and break the horn to flip it, you miss it or kill it accidentally? Start again.

    Hey uhm just some tips. You can just use 2 slots on your armor to just add Crystal Negate skill to your set from a deco available early game at HR4-5. Almost all armor at zenith GR200+ already has 15 slots easily. Another thing is you can just use SNS or Lance for both impact and cutting with decent damage for example. There is also Adaptation skills. There is actually a lot of easy counters to his crystal even just wearing a single part of Shagaru Magala gear instantly makes you crystal immune. Hope this helps people

  • @CeraCymmetry

    6 ай бұрын

    Cool tips, thanks! Just as a caution, I mention in the video that the hitzone requirement is only for the BASE species, slashing damage can be used all the way with Zenith Akura without needing adaptation, SnS or Lance, you could do it all with GS if you fancy!

  • @KoriNinja

    @KoriNinja

    6 ай бұрын

    You don't need impact for the tail on Normal HR4-5-G either. You must be referring to Jebia Edit: You actually don't even need impact to break the crystals off either you just need to do enough damage in general. The hitzones on the crystals severely reduce cutting damage so it takes much longer. The same applies to the zenith. So you can as an LS user with not impact cut a Vashimu tail in any rank. Jebia is another story his tail will not flash rainbow until you apply some impact meaning it can be cut @@CeraCymmetry

    I will be honest - I do not agree with it's visual design being amazing. (and it's gonna be a long one so sorry, if you don't like reading or you don't care to read it that's fine) In terms of visual design, Akuras have a treatment quite similar to some other Frontier designs that I do not enjoy. In terms of base body, it's very close to regular scropion, IRL scorpions are generally quite buff for something related to spiders, so his black coloring and intimidating look do not really stay away far from real animal and I do enjoy that. However it seems it didn't stay far away enough from it. On one hand, yes I see the changes in leg structure, claws and face but the black color could do a little bit of work OR at least have some good match with the crystals. It either the issue of not changing enough OR... ... the main issue of this design - there is a very acceptable monster under that crystal thrash disposal. Crystals generaly in games are quite uninteresting way of making something fantasy like - they very often are not connected to actual attacks and powers of the monster in game and monster himself does not use qualities of crystals in their fight beside the visuals (some explosions with some Crystal effect on top). Kuarusepusu if I remember correctly, that is also in Frontier, uses crystals to deflect light - an example how to use properties of material you use on your monster design in it's fight design and it also looks much better designed visually. In terms of Akura, they not only do not match the base monster, they are also easly replacable. What I mean is, a lot of her attacks could be made by an actual body part and not magical crystal mumbo jumbo. An exploding crystal on a tail could be a sack of some sort, a giant venom gland she leaves like Bee leaves her stinger and same goes for attacks I saw from her so far. I absolutely hate that they made a scorpion only to base it's entire attack pattern on very unrelated item attached to that scorpion. You can tell me i'm wrong, because hell, I didn't play Frontier, I am most likely not allowed to have an opinion here, but just remember, I don't judge the fight, I judge the visual design I see on my screen... and I think they could do better for a scorpion of this power for Frontier and Monster Hunter in general. Edit: So in this video you can actually see the Akura without most of her crystals and she looks much better and more well desinged just from these few shots. You can also see much better her body structure Without them and that it she is actually much more original than she seems in terms of design, triple claws and such.

    I love the look of this Zenith, but I have no desire to fight it at all at this rate. It genuinely looks completely unfun to fight if you don't have the gear to just deal with its status nonsense, and I hate monsters that require you to deal with their nonsense through armor skills alone. Crystalblight is enough of a pain point for me to begin with, throwing Paralysis But Worse on top of that is a complete pass for me. Feels like they put everything that sucks about status in one monster and sent it out the door. Super long range and fast attacks that inflict two statuses on you, a one hit KO, a pin, all stuff that's a recipe of Fuck You For Thinking About Trying To Kill This Thing. Is the gear you can make from it even worth it???
