Image Comics used to get a bad rep for the '90s stuff, but honestly, those eight+ creators started a massive movement. It was the most high-profile creator-owned company in comics in a long while

This was the very moment that changed the face of the comic book industry forever! Now everybody tries to copy the "Image Art Style" to this day! Image changed everything! They are to this day, one of my favorite comic book companies! Sadly though, comic books don't sell as well as they used to. They just can't compete with videogames. Sadly, America's pre-18 youth would rather play games than read. Thank God for adult readers/fans like me who still love comic books!

I agree with Rob Liefeld. Without creative type people, you would not have the creations. I am a college art/animation student and hope to one day reach the artistic skill of Rob, Todd and all the Image guys! Image Comics will rule the Earth for all eternity! Hells Yeah! = : )

Todd McFarlane was the real powerhouse behind Image comics.

This was the most pivotal change in the history of American Comic Books. These seven guys were the best in the business and knocked Marvel and DC Comics on their asses because they were getting ripped off by the two big companies! This shows that if you have the talent, the plan and the dream....you too can make your dreams come true. I miss the days when Image Comics ruled the Earth. Anybody who criticizes these guys obviously does not know much about comic books. Go Image Comics!

There were other independent comic book creators making their way and showing the possibilities, the difference is these Image Comics creators began their careers by being under the employment of these two franchises THEN decided that they had had enough and formed a coalition and abandoned Marvel and DC comics.

Man...I remember those days. I was in high school at the time. Plus this video and the current crisis (comic industry destructing because of covid-19) are the only two times the mainstream media even acknowledged comic books.

Even though Image is not as exposed and does not have heavily recognized properties they are still a powerful company and also they are huge with hugely successful titles such as YoungBlood, Spawn, Savage Dragon, Wildcats, Invincible and the Darkness!

Oh, WCWite, this was the greatest event to happen in the early 90s. I love that it actually happened!! Because, it showed that INDEPENDENTS compete against and prove the 'establishment' are no longer going to be the sole players. I love it!!

The great thing about comic books is you have something interesting to look at while you have something interesting to read.

Image is always a fave to me. SPAWN THE DARKNESS WITCHBLADE PITT CYBERFORCE YOUNGBLOOD THE TENTH and sooo many other great titles

I am a Jim Lee fanboy and own far more of his work than Todd's but I have to agree with you. If anything Jim Lee became a bigger star later on.

@Narcomics yeah, I was there too... and it wasn't all about Todd... remember the guy only lasted a year drawing spawn and then gave it up to another artist... he did break the record for most amount of comics sold in a single month for an indie developer. (Todd)

Say what you will about Image Comics. Without them, the Walking Dead would not enjoy the profile it has today, and Robert Kirkman would probably not have that TV show.

Wow....this was the inception of Image Comics!! Greatest comic company ever!!! I mean honestly, name a "hero" who could hold his/her own with the original image lineup: WildC.A.T.s, Spawn, Youngblood, Cyberforce, Shadowhawk, Savage Dragon, Stormwatch (my fav), The Maxx.........just gotta say Stormwatch one more time because Jackson "Battalion" King was my fucking hero!!!! (funfact: He was named after Jack "King" Kirby.).

@Hellhound30x No, it was definitely Todd, if we're talking Image POWERhouse. Todd did it all and created industry milestones which forever changed the way comics, TOYS and movies (animated) were made. Jim Lee was a powerhouse at Marvel. But Todd was the icon the shined amongst the rest whether people want to argue that or not. I remember those days very well...and believe me, it was always about TODD. lol..

I like Image. I've read some of their titles on comixology and I mostly like The Walking Dead and Savage Dragon. I'd read Spawn but comixology doesn't have it.

@kingdomhearts3sora3 - I use to be a "true believer" too, until marvel's finest left and showed the world what true heroes are. Not a single name on that list could own Spawn, let alone the entire image lineup. And DC characters just shouldn't be mentioned. Batman already lost to Spawn years ago. ---EXCELSIOR!
