Neenga sonna maari, namma thamizh makkal romba kadamaipatrukom raja sir ku, but for your information, 'pa' endra swaram illamal neraya scales iruku in classical music.. For ex. (Abhoghi raagam - Idhule irukra swaram vandhu Sa,Re,Ga,Ma,Dha. Just five notes without 'pa'. Ilayaraaja ve idhule enaku therinju oru paatu potrukaaru (Innum irukalam but as far as i know).. Its 'Indraikku Yaen Indha Aanandhamae', from Vaidehi Kaathirundhaal..) but its a challenging task to compose a song without 'pa' ,but nothing is tough to that genius.. This is just for your information as i said already.

Raja is a genius. Ilayaraja has created a record in composing a song using only three swaras. Prior to this such a successful attempt has been made by Dr. M. Balamurali Krishna in Carnatic Classical music. He has written and presented Krithis using three and four swaras. Now here in movies it is the turn of another genius, Ilayaraja. His demonstration is marvellous.

In each of his concert, Raja takes up a topic and explains to his audience. Be it on counterpoints or symphony or folk music or this. This only confirms my claim. Whenever my friends ask me why I am a raja fan, I tell them that enjoying ilayaraja's music is an intellectual exercise. For other music directors, you listen to the song, you might like it and you listen to it a few times. Rarely they do something in the song that makes you wonder and admire it. But for ilayaraja, it is there in every song and every BGM. If it is not there, it just means you havent found it yet. The more you know about music and improve your knowledge, his work fascinates you more. And he does that in places you least expect. Eg. the violin bgm in the movie 'karpoora mullai' with maya raga. That is why Ilayaraja is a genius while others are just artists.

Exactly.. this is what i feel whenever i listen to isai Gnanis composition.. every other prelude and interlude has a uniqueness . Others cannot even come closer to the BGM level and Ragas orientation which IR sir has in his songs.. eg.. Preludes and interludes are no longer visible in others composition other than the vocal part.. but Isai gnanis BGM in a song itself has a strong ground in Music world and listeners of music.. I call him a Man of Miracles

First thing she is not the best singer in world. Even in india kaushiki Kavitha krishnamorty, chithra and many. And second thing she is not struggling she is comfortably singing as it's easy but creative tune.

Don't Know how I landed up watching this but Raja is a living legend born for music. No one could have even thought of this kind of experiment or compositions.

I was kid when his music ruling south india, but some how i am blessed to connect to his music

Rajaraman Ramasamy that 18 pple obviously do not know music! tone deaf pple. i know a little bit of music. he's using 1st, 2nd n 3rd notes of the major scale (total 7 notes). its very hard to compose using just dis 3 notes cos it greatly limits ur range n melody options. only the maestro can think of such stuff.

having said that, just want to highlight that in the charanam the maestro has used notes from the next octave as well...BUT its the same 3 notes as pallavi...in fact a combination of notes from the lower n higher octaves....C, D and E. amazing!
