    Ah yes, the famous Normandy supply turkey shoot... I find bomber intercept missions and transport craft interceptions vids from you supremely calming. Just saying...

    Fun fact: The two guys to jump out at 5:27 were Call of Duty protagonists at the beginning of the game.

    A full FW190 career starting a week before D-Day and hopefully making it to the wars end would be awesome. You could even make it long enough to join a ME262 squadron.

    Hey Taff could we get another Rise of Flight Career or IL2 Career? Thanks for all your videos. Much appreciated.

    Fantastic episode special taff, seems not long ago we flew the FW190 with Sebastian, that was one utterly fantastic series that was. The FW190 is one iconic warbird of the second world war, always is so very fun to fly. In this timeline you likely caused some nasty headaches to the allied forces airborne drops, great to see the P47 Thunderbolts come out to play, those would really make a fantastic aircraft to make a future series with, mind you any aircraft would be fantastic on the channel. This was excellent, picking off C47s.. priceless moments and full of some serious drama and combat, allied paratrooper drops and supplies would have been bloodied if that was real. Thanks for putting this on, your IL-2 content is magnificent, never gets boring. Thanks mate 👏 👍

    Excellent! Would love to see more strafing runs on the beaches/landing ships/spearheads close to beaches. There are almost none? And the sea is always empty...

    Sadly the game would then just be at 2fps or roast your PC :/ Even the bits they implemented (there are battles on the beaches and stuff like that) make it so, that on my PC (and reading the forums, many others) the time of D-Day has significant FPS drops, flying over the landing beaches makes the game go into slow motion mode. (sometimes at least) so I think having a somewhat realistic invasion fleet (even properly scaled down) would make even top PCs struggle and would make it completely unplayable on mid spec or lower en systems. They would have to finde a way to make them static background stuff, like trees or something but even that would only be working until you get close and ruin the illusion, but would make a rather stunning background when flying over land. But there's always Il2-1946, everything is possible with that.

    The Fw-190 was well named the "Butcher Bird" with those 2x 20mm. A 1 or 2 sec squirt is all it takes. Glad to see you didn't hang around to do some air to ground strafing, Taff, although you still had some 20mm ammo left. The poor, early morning visibility would make it very difficult to spot targets and AAA would turn your aircraft into a colander, if not worse.

    Well, actually, He used a FW 190 A6 (sorry didn't see that was the A6 not the A8, that was alredy in service during D-Day) so it had 4X 200 mm, the Dora 9 was the one with 2X 20 mm, also, both (the A8 and D9) had 2X 13 mm machine guns on the cowl, the A6 still had the 7.92 mm instead

    @@ricardobeltranmonribot3182 Yep. The BF-109 had a single 20mm cannon firing through the propellor hub which made it a formidable opponent in it's own right, but then came the 190 with initially 2x 20mm cannon mounted in the wings, earning the moniker "Butcher Bird". As you point out, later marks of the 190 had 4x 20mm cannon; both brands of fighters also had cowl-mounted MGs, but the most effective armament, by a long shot, were the cannons given their primary mission being bomber killers.

    @@jamesrussell7760 In that yes you are correct, the A1 only had two 20 mm, and four 7.92 mm, after that, the A2 onward always had four 20 mm, only the D types and the Ta 152 H returned to the two 20 mm, why?, I don't know, but lost half of fire power, but the stronger variants were the A8/R2 and the A8/R8, that swapped the middle wing's 20 mm for the 30 mm cannons, and unlike the F types, the cannons where inside the wing, not under the wing, inside of gun pots,

    From early dawn to late twilight, 400-600 allied fighters operated continuously over the terrain. On days when major operations were in progress, the proportion of allied to German planes was 40:1. The G.A.F., and particularly its fighters, were literally shot out of the coastal airfields. Simply put your operation never happened.

    Taff, I've just picked up IL-2 and was wondering, do I also need a throttle and peddles, or can I just get away with a joystick?

  • @cyberfutur5000

    @cyberfutur5000

    Throttle would be good, some kind of HOTAS (you could get a Thrustmaster hotas for like 30-50ish$), I'd say that's really helpful to have, for the buttons sake alone. Peddles are not that important but really nice to have. They make it more immersive, intuitive and precise, also taxiing on the ground gets so much more doable. But peddles are a luxury thing. What's way more important is TrackIR (if your not playing VR). If your tight on money maybe keep looking for a cheap Trustmaster HOTAS, save some money for TrackIR and someday get your self some nice new setup with peddles and all the good stuff. If money isn't a problem, get TrackIR and skip the Cheap hotas, go straight to a nice setup. To close it, when I first got ROF I played it with an Xbox controller and had a great time.
