    PC: If it's an office computer of the last 5 years, or anything more powerful than that of the last 10 years, you're almost certainly overequipped for most scenarios in this game. Some missions are highly-intensive, there's not much that can be done for that except having an unrealistically powerful cpu. Stick: Anything cheap you can find and that you trust to keep itself centered for a good, long time. T16000 isn't a bad starting point. Consider head tracking too, TrackHat, ARUCO etc.

    The Ki-83 Oscar could dance, but like the Zero, can't take a hit and with only two .50 cals, could not dish it out. Japan was hopeless out gunned, out muscled, out-classed.

  • @sd501st5

    @sd501st5

    4 жыл бұрын

    *Ki-43 Hayabusa/"Oscar" ;) And that crate could dance even better than the contemporary A6M Zero, the rate of roll was superb, especially at higher speeds compared to the Zeke. The rate of climb was also quite a bit to much better, depending on the exact variant(the Japanese were a bit... weird, for lack of a better word, when it came to how many armament variants a single engine/frame combination could have). The perks of being a land based fighter carrying around less fuel, especially in the wings. There were 2 test models of the Ki-43-III armed with twin 20mm cannons in the cowling in late 1944, which also used the same engine as the Ki-100 did. Those were extremely promising in terms of low-mid altitude performance with exceptional rate of climb, agility and even respectable straightline speed... but at that point superb low-mid altitude performance wasn't what was asked for anymore... high altitude speed and firepower was, to combat the B-29 formations. Japan didn't lack excellent fighter or bomber designs... the Ki-84 Hayate/"Frank" for example was a match for anything the Allies had, with the exception of the B-29's(by virtue of their very high service altitude and speed at that altitude) and the next generation of allied piston and jet fighters like the F8F, F7F, P-51H, P-80 for the US and the later Mark's of the Griffon Spitfire as well as the Gloster Meteor and De Havilland Vampire for the UK. What they lacked in the aviation department were ressources, especially rare metals, the ability to refine crude oil into avgas... and of course industrial capacity in general, and an efficient system to train replacement pilots, and an Army and Navy that actually worked together or even talked to each other, instead of competing for every little thing and using their own designs for planes, weapons et cetera... hell, the Army even had it's own *transport ships* for crying out loud! Oh, and luck... they certainly lacked that, too. If a certain earthquake on the 7th December(how's that for Karma?) 1944 hadn't mostly destroyed the Mitsubishi plant in the Nagoya region which was then completely flattened by bombing raids on 11th of March 1945, leading to the total loss of the full scale drawings and production jigs, early 1945 could have seen the introduction of the A7M Reppu/"Sam", the true successor of the Zero and superior in most respects(and in some vastly so) to the F6F-5 Hellcat. Another plane design died as well with that plant, the Ki-83, a twin engined high altitude bomber killer with monstrous performance.

    Answering a little late here, sorry. Those look like Ki-43-II, because of several external differences to the Ki-43-I: - no protruding telescope sight through the cockpit front which means a reflex gunsight, - shorter wingspan, - three bladed propeller with large prop spinner, - longer engine and engine cowling with supercharger air inlet between the machinegun firing ports, - said firing ports protruding above the cowling which suggests 2x 12.7mm Ho-103 machineguns as armament Which subvariant of the Ki-43-II this is isn't discernable however since they mainly differed in things that aren't visible externally... armor protection, radio equipment, fuel capacity and the possible external ordnance. They all had self-sealing fuel tanks however.
