I find this so interesting, I am a big fan of rubber base for a variety of reasons. It makes the nail far more resistant to breaking, without creating a lot of thickness. Also if the nail does break, it kind of tears off rather than trying to take the natural nail off with it, the way hard gel products can. There are a lot of caveats to using it safely though...I apply in 2-3 very thin layers and cure throughly. I have seen people applying a partially or uncured "slip layer" and then applying on top of that to create an apex, and I'm not convinced that is safest as far as potential for uncured product goes. I also file off nearly all of the product every 1-2 weeks. It can be soaked off, but it takes quite a while, even with Anna's tips of foil and heating pad. I prefer to remove most of it, very carefully, with a fine sanding band, then I hand file the remainder. I probably leave 10% of the original on for the next mani, a *very* thin layer if anything. When rubber base lifts, it doesnt chip away in chunks like the hard gel products seem to, it lifts in tiny round spots. It is easy (with practice) to sand down around those small places to make sure all the old product is gone. I don't use this brand, though the brand I use is HEMA free. I am not a nail tech, but I am a nurse. I followed Anna for over a year, perfecting my application of regular polish while learning about gel products, prior to even *attempting* to use gel products. I also joined online groups discussing nail allergies and sensitivities, did extensive research on preventing sensitivities with proper application of products, and even took a couple of online classes for nail techs regarding proper gel application. I have mixed feelings about the products being available to the public, like me. Obviously I want to be able to apply them, but I am also aware that the majority laypeople using them did not do the amount of research and learning that I did prior to even attempting to wear gel polish. But it is also true that many nail techs out there do not have near the level of knowledge or care to be using the products that they use. So that would be my advice if you don't trust that you can find a good nail tech to apply these products and you want to attempt them....and get very good at applying regular nail polish as you go on your learning journey, it helps! Because applying gel products is not just a casual thing, it is something you really need to have the drive to learn to do well, and many people aren't willing to take the time for something that is not an actual career.
