Good idea for overhang support!
Very slick. Love the back framing detail.

Thanks! I just bought the Domino lightly used last month so I figured I would try it out.
Am about to get Ikea cabinets this week.I have a very custom kitchen design mixing a lot of Ikea products to accomplish my design. But after endless designing , planning and endless trips to Ikea and finally ready.I what has your biggest challenge with these cabinet. Will like to share my design for advice. Thanks for the videos.
Thanks so much for all these videos. I’m a pretty handy woman but these hacks are great. I will be taking on doing our own ikea kitchen in the next two months and these videos help with my confidence in doing it alone.

I am so glad they are helpful. I am sure your kitchen remodel will turn out splendid! :)
nice work; no need for that 20A outlet. Vacuum, mixer, you name it; none of them will exceed 15A
was the electric door opener bought from ikea? if so, what is it called or article no. thx.
How did you mount the microwave in the cabinet?
It is a GREAT video as I am planning to attach doors on the back of the island. How did you fill small gaps between the doors? Thank you!

In my case since I am using the doors as fixed panels the gaps are filled by the large thin ¼" sheet white melamine panel I added to the back of the 2x4's. If you wanted to make doors open on the back then you could just use the stock IKEA cabinets and add a door on the back instead of the thin melamine particleboard sheets they provide to use as the back of the cabinet. The two problems I see are the fact that they cut a grove the factory in the IKEA cabinet to fit that thin back piece so you would have that showing, and you wouldn't be able to build a 2x4 frame to support the brackets like the one I built in the video because it would block the door. I too thought about having the cabinets have doors on both sides but with the microwave and the bar stool chairs blocking that side I chose just to keep it stock with doors on one side. Good Luck!

@@postbeam8200 Thank you!!! My island plan is similar to this kzread.info/dash/bejne/qmVmx8-fopfFhNY.html and the difference is to glue/nail "fake" doors on the back of back panel to look more customized look. Your video is really help and thank you for sharing!
thanks for the video. is a 2x4 needed at the top and bottom if there is no over hang? If you were not installing those brackets? also, did you use all island brackets or rail brackets and island brackets?

also, where did you find the plastic covers? they only have two per cabinet
Looks great! I think your tools cost more than the finished product :)

You are probably right about that :) But nice tools keep paying dividends long after this project is a distant memory. But in all seriousness the Domino has been a handy addition, I have used it far more than I would have expected.
What's the cabinet width that you have the trash in? Would you mind linking to the bins? Not seeing them on Ikea

I can't find it on IKEA either. It is Article Number: 802.635.73 made in Poland. I think it is called VARIERA 14 gallon bins but I can't say for sure because it's not on the tag. 2 fit in the cabinet perfectly. Hope that helps :)
What are the dimensions of the island I’m really thinking about adding one to my kitchen with 3 seats ?

7 ft x 4 ft with a 12" overhang fro the chairs. Each chair gets a 2 foot area to pull up to the bar with the remains bit overhanging the sides of the island. The base is made up of 3 IKEA bases that are 24" x 24" x 30" high. Hope that helps!
