    IISc-> research & academics IIT-> corporate world If you are really smart i think you can impact world more by good research at IISc. IISc is better than IIT anytime but it is not glamorous and doing research is not for everyone.

    Then IIT should not be a option for you ,you should go for iisc & Einstein never understood a little bit of quantum physics . invention & research are completely different like engineering &science MIT IS NOT THAT HARD FOR WHO TRULY LOVE SCIENCE Start reading books about science & history.Once you really understand what really science &space is.Then it will be very easy for u & some books I can recommend u like 1.The short History of nearly everything-Bill Bryson. 2.cosmos -carl sagan (now also a tv series Cosmos: A space-time odyssey by Neil DeGrasse Tyson) 3.books by Neil DeGrasse Tyson like death by black hole, origins:14 billion years 4.books by Richard Feynman, Michio Kaku, brian greene etc. 5.homo sapiens by Yuval Noah Harari subscribe to youtube channels like: PBS spacetime,vsauce, veritasium, science net ALSO, LISTEN TO NEIL DEGRASSE TYSON INTERVIEW HE REALLY TALK GOOD&the more you explore the more you will learn!!!

    @@souvik___dey__ Lol who told u that one needs under 50 rank in JEE Advanced to get IIT?? My cousin brother got AIR 5K and he is in Kgp.. I am from Jadavpur and prefered it over Kgp even though I was having simillar rank...An IIT degree without core/relevant streams is pretty useless... And you can get top IITs like KGP with even 10k rank in Advanced in Ext. merit list... Its not the same case for IISc... But I am not telling IISc attracts better minds... if you calculate the percentile cutoff then both institutes are simillar (1 lakh candidates give GATE and 10lakh candidates give JEE)... so

    @@souvik___dey__ IISc is known for research... they are always in limelight for research... Google IISc and go to news section... You will find many... Geting into a foreign university doesnot depend on you UG college in any way... there are more no. of students getting into top MS/PhD programs from SRM University than any other institutes in India... Sounds wierd no? But its true ... and even simillar no. of students from univ. like Jadavpur University and Calcutta University convert ms/phd programs in top 30 US & German schools every year but that doesnot implies that its comparable to IIT Kgp remotely r8?... Very few students from IIT (old 7) who opt for higher studies land up in Cornell, Princeton, MIT, CMU etc.. But does that prove IIT is similar to JU or CU? Academically maybe yes but on other parameters STRICTLY NO... Well this is a debatable topic frankly coz getting into metallurgy dept. of IIT Kgp made no sense to me leaving ETCE in JU and its much easier to go for higher studies in EECS from ETCE rather than metallurgy (even with IIT tag)... Due to this very reason I know many students from IITs, top NITs, IIITs, BITS, DTU and even Jadavpur getting into IISc MTech program in CS/EC rather than opting for top US schools and I also know many from VIT and SRM CS dept. converting MS admits from Caltech & U. Berkeley... Getting into IISc is only worth it if someone is not getting top 50 US universities in MS program or top 100 univ. globally in PhD(direct) with full scholarship + stipend... Below that IISc is much better....

  • @epictetus__

    @@abhikachieverofdailygoals1621 Yes if one decides to stay back and continue their higher studies in India. IISc is the Indian alternative to CalTech. IISc MTech is comparable to top 50-100 universities worldwide in engineering. However MS from top 50 university will always be better choice over IISc MTech even if they demands huge course fees. If someone is focused more on research and planning to do PhD abroad then IISc MTech will be a safe route to convert the coveted PhD offers in top universities abroad and in that case Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata is also a great option. So according to me :- 1. MS from top 50 universities 2. Direct /Integrated PhD offer from top 100 universities (if interested in that) 3. MTech from IISc 4. MTech from ISI K 5. MS from top 50-100 universities

    @indra kumar without a doubt IISc Bangalore is the best option for you... If you are not getting IISc kindly choose an MS program abroad over MTech from IIT (If you can get good GATE rank then you can also score good marks in GRE and get in top 50 institutes abroad..)

  • @epictetus__

    @epictetus__

    4 жыл бұрын

    @indra kumar If you are focusing on research career then IISc Bangalore has clear edge over IIT B/M/D/K... But it also depends a lot on your field of study... Like for Machine Learning IIT B is especially gr8 while for Microelectronics & VLSI IISc has no Indian competitors... But in general the whole environment in IISc is research focused and you can easily get research roles in top tier labs all around the world after your MTech which is not obvious for IITs as most of them(if not all) opt for placements... Also do note companies coming to IISc will be much less than top 5 IITs but since there are no BTech students in IISc the median gross package is also higher in IISc than IITs...

    +dileep manuballa I am an ex IISc student. So I am in position to answer this. As a electrical Btech you will not be allowed to directly do ME in CSA even you passed GATE in CS paper. But good news is you have two options. 1. Admit in ME in SSA (System science and automation). CSA is under Electrical dept. Here you will have access to most of the good courses in CSA. Like machine learning, data mining, Game theory, information security etc. 2. Mtech in SERC. Mostly mathematics oriented course, graphics, cloud computing, computer vision, big data. And for these you need not write GATE in CS. You can write gate in Electrical paper hich would be lot easier for you. I would not recommend you to take highly system/theory oriented courses though . You should better opt for intelligent system if you have strong mathematics background. In fact IISc is a great place where you will be given complete freedom to choose your track and what area you are passionate about. The slight difference is in name of degree which does not matter much. You can audit any course in the campus (You can attend a biology lecture if you wish to. None will stop you). So, go ahead with your dream. Wish you best of luck.
