Why do people say Kerber is boring? Her game is very interesting. She has one of the best defense of all time, and has the ability to hit winners from anywhere on the court. Iga showed why she's the number one. She's very deserving of that rank, and barring any serious injuries, she's on course for a very impressive career even though her achievements are impressive at the moment.

Kerber fought like a lioness on her worst surface against best clay courter by far in the last 3-4 years. Great match 🔥

Iga was tested today, Kerber put up a great fight specially in the first set when she saved 7 set points but once again, Iga showing why she is up there in the rankings, great match!

That first set from Angelique was a blast from the past... that she was able to keep it that tight and hang with Iga for nearly an hour of intense play is legendary stuff! Iga's movement, pace and variety is just a delight to watch! 🙂

For sheer aggression, grit, court craft and focus there is no one on the WTA Tour who can match Iga Swiatek. On a purely game level her style is the one to watch. The lasso forehand, court movement, ability to change course.

Iga was tested in this match. Her practice sessions are tougher than some of her matches. Serve and return of serve. Iga has improved in both.

That was a good match. I like it when Iga is challenged like this. These kind of victories also taste better :) well done both!

With this win, Iga is 35-4 Win loss in 2024. 89.7% winning percentage. What a season for Iga so far. 3rd Rome title loading.

First set was full of so many intense hits, that was expected Angie would not be able to keep up against Iga in the second one... But the first set was very injoyable.

Good job Iga, have some rest befofe the next one!

A bit messy first set for Iga, but glad she came through. Kerber has a high rally tolerance and she made Iga work for points. I wonder whether Iga will be too tired when RG rolls around. She has become a clutch player for a while now, maybe this will carry her through weeks. But going deep in tournaments frequently will tire her out. We will wait and see, i hope she can adjust and close out the clay season with a bang!

Always makes me smile when players are cordial at the end of the game at the net. Good job Iga and Angelique.

I've MISSSED SO MUCH the Kerber yelling forehand winners. They give me an adrenaline rush.

For kerber to be able to win against Iga she needs to win against top 20 / 10 consistently and get used to the nerves and tension. As long as she has R1 exists no matter how hard she plays Iga will get her. Wish she brought this level often.
