Swiatek's obviously very tight w/ her team, and they work exceptionally well together. But it's moments like being down 3-1 in the 3rd set, down match point at 6-5, then the tiebreak w/ 2 more match points when the sports psychologist must surely come into play. She maintains her composure so well and is as mentally tough as anyone on the WTA tour. Not sure how many other players have s/one like that to work w/ but it's clearly an advantage.

It's funny how the chair umpires are always asking the crowd to be quiet during play but Sabalenka screams, grunts, and yells, even when the other player is in the process of returning the shot. Bizarre, over the top, and totally unnecessary.

At this point Swiatek is in a league of her own because of her mental strength. It separates her from the rest of the pack. Positive attitude, posture and body language, total concentration and focus at the task on hand. Did not even dispute the ball at 5:28 when it seems it was clearly out. No time for negative energy. She does a lot of meditation and calming exercises in her free time and it’s clearly paying off on the court.

How come the media never asks the question of her, "Why do you choose to yell and scream when you play?" Djokovic was penalized for doing it on just one shot. Talk about a double standard. This behavior is willful, voluntary, unnecessary, has little to do with breathing or exhaling upon exertion, can be stopped anytime she wants as she often does, irritates fans both live at the tournament and watching the broadcast on tv, and if she actually is a nice person actually gives the opposite impression to those who don't know her in any other context, yet she seems to be getting even worse doing this. Why? The media is obviously scared to ask the most obvious question. Instead they choose to ask the most boring and expected questions. Don't be cowards. She deserves to be asked. Her behavior is unprecedented in professional tennis and that is not a compliment. Most of the commentary on these matches is boring and with little insight. So a lot is spoken about about meaningless observations. What I am describing is relevant and of interest to the fans. Ask the question.

Wybacz, że odpowiem po polsku, bo nie chcę kaleczyć angielskiego. Zauważ, że ten zwyczaj krzyczenia dotyczy tenisistek zza wschodniej granicy Polski. To nie tylko Sabalenka. Szarapowa, Azarenka, skąd się to bierze to temat na pracę naukową :) Dlaczego media o to nie pytają? Bo to jest faux pas zarówno dla zadającego pytanie jak i dla pytanego. W takich czasach żyjemy. Dzisiaj takie filmy jak: "Godfather", "Taxi Driver", "Trading Places" nie miały by jakiejkolwiek szansy aby zostać zrealizowane. Zobacz co się dzieje, a co przewidział Orwell w powieści "1984". Zmieniamy historię i o zgrozo literaturę. Już nie ma fantastycznego kryminału Agatha Christie "Dziesięciu małych ..." Są już niewiniątka.

I think Sabalenka is yelling lounder than on any other match to provoke Iga. You can hear the difference while she is yelling in purpose and when she is just hitting hard forgetting about she suppose to yell. I'ts very low.

Iga's an amazing role model in the world where we struggle to find any. Unfortunately she's not considered a 'western' player by the media. She deserves to be on the covers of magazines, invited to fashion shows and movie premieres as well as having a cameo roles in films etc. The exposure E. Raducanu had after only one big title win was insane. Sometimes, the 'inability' to notice Iga by CNN, BBC etc is getting a bit offensive. I had a motion capture / modeling experience and I remember when sending out my resume and headshots, everyone was very keen to work with me...until they saw my last name and assumed some preconceived notions about me. PS. You almost saw me as the face of Leon in those new Resident Evil games :)

Sabalenka needs a voice coach. This is new in tennis but innovations are necessary as tennis devolves. She needs to work on giving the greatest volume as the ball she just grunted over the net reaches her opponents strings to maximize the interference metric.

It was a nail biting finish. Both of them shared first 2 sets.. In third set, they were 6-6, and forced to tie break. In tie-break, they were, 7-7.. Then, Swiatek won in tie break as 9-7, and became champion. (But, 2023, Mutua Madrid Women's Champion was Sablenka..)

@@CAMDENMCCARTY21 Graf, Navratilova, Evert...all silent. Seles proved at Wimbledon 1992 final that she could turn it off like flipping a switch. But it has become embedded in the modern game, but there's no proof that loud grunting at the strike of the ball does anything but make noise.

I can't withstand her annoying noise even 30 min highlights, apprentice IGA to face and keep cool & concentrate on play. She s should be given double grown. Tennis ground rule need to changed this is way way beyond disrupting the opponent. If WTA banned players making such noise naturally the upcoming kids shall start to practice playing silently. Slight letout/ grunt and occasional shout is fine but today this lady deserved to loose. So is the case in men's side too. Gone are era of professional tennis, love 80's and 90''s tennis. Since 2k all sorts of tactics, noise, distracting the opponent, unnecessary MTO, taking too much time for every point ( nadal), acting crazily just to stop rhythm.of opponent etc etc , shouting , fisting, waving to crowd for each point especially fisting for opponent's mistake is abs.nonsense. The grunting and screaming is getting to the realm of gamesmanship (gamespersonship?). I recall when players called out Monica Seles for the same thing 30-odd years ago. As noted below, it's totally unnecessary. If a golfer so much as coughs when his opponent tees off, it's regarded as unsporting conduct. Yet these players are so privileged and special that they can do it on every shot without anybody daring to say a word.

That's the point: she intends to disturb and annoy the opponent on purpose, especially Iga (you can see plenty of matches where she 'forgets' to scream). She's too simple to figure out that it actually works against her, as she loses a lot of energy. But then this kind of manipulation is what she has to fall for, as she's obvious never been a match for Iga.
