    Battery life is only 8 hours not 12. In my unit's volume knob a round dent is present to indicate volume position and the 3.5mm is not single ended. It is SBlanced, which also supports balanced output. And S balanced out is noise free. And the bass boost at 20kHz is around 2db.

    Really? 3.5mm for both single ended and balanced? Very nice, in that case ifi audio is far ahead of competition in terms of future proofing. 4.4mm itself is the future of balanced. But Probably 3.5mm balanced will be the standard for portable hi-fi.

    @@kishoreabraham Yes they are doing the 3.5 mm balanced for a long time, now as 4.4 mm gained popularity Ifi also implemented it. 4.4 mm has another benefit that it has also ground connection from the 5th pin. When using the 3.5mm balanced hip dac can offer low noise and better channel separation. I have made a detailed review please check it out. www.audioglorye.com/ifi-hip-dac-review/

    Palash Shil yes, I saw the s-balanced thing in ifi devices but never cared about it, as the cables are very rare and expensive. But now, cables are getting cheap and balanced devices are available in less than $100. So, balanced thing is coming down to everyone. So, having both as balanced ports, 4.4 and 3.5... good thing.

    Does the source volume have any impact? Using with a iPhone?

  • @samma3afans

    @samma3afans

    3 жыл бұрын

    Potentially, yes. Decreasing the volume on the source may mean that some of the digital bits are discarded, hence affecting the dynamic range.

    Yup you can definitely use it with the M6. Using adapters can often cause issues, so it would be best to get a proper micro-USB OTG cable if you want to use an external DAC with the X5iii

    Fiio Q5s vs hip dac??

  • @kishoreabraham

    @kishoreabraham

    4 жыл бұрын

    PSYNITE 69 they both are very different. 💎1. Q5s has Bluetooth, M-Fi certified and cable included (good for iOS users). For Hip DAC, no Bluetooth, Need to buy camera cable if have iOS devices. 💎 2. AKM chips which have totally different signature from Burr brown in Hip DAC. Hip DAC is more relaxing and musical, Q5s is more critical and bright (sound is subjective always) 💎3 both have Different ports and Hip DAC has MQA compatibility if it's relevant for you. 💎4 Last but not least, the price... Hip DAC $150 vs Q5S $350. It's more than double price difference. So they are very different, yet it's very subjective. Some may Like one than other, regardless of price. I heard both, I like Burr brown sound more.

    PSYNITE 69 For metal and Rock, I think it's better not to go for bright signature (as the music itself usually bright). In my opinion Hip DAC would be better for your need. Again it's subjective. But Zen DAC and Hip DAC both use the same BB chip, which they used with more expensive models in the past. In 2020, Zen DAC is the best value DAC/AMP, for additional $30 you can get mobile version, Hip DAC. You can't go wrong with both of these.
