    Great video! I like your camera work. Well done... May I ask you a silly question please? Do you know if the similar 'unbalanced' device (E1DA 9038D) will output a line-level signal (fixed). I want to use it as a DAC connecting my PC (USB) to my Marantz home amplifier 1/8" to 2-RCA's. Is this possible, or is this unit just a variable output headphone DAC\amp? Thanks!

    Great solution for laptop. Lack of volume controls disqualify it for use with mobile phone which I would be most interested in. Volume control on mobile phones is unacceptably imprecise. There are apparently 4 modes on the device but the changing between them is rather confusing. Can you explain how to enable those modes and what they actually do?

  • @samma3afans

    @samma3afans

    3 жыл бұрын

    You can just use a PC to set the PTL volume to whatever is most appropriate for your headphones/IEMs, and then the volume adjustment via a mobile phone will be much more subtle. Not sure what modes you're talking about. If you're referring to the firmware itself and the individual filters that go along with it, instructions are provided with the FW as to how to perform a FW flash.

  • @samma3afans

    @samma3afans

    3 жыл бұрын

    Essentially yes. Although the 9038D does have some other part differences that were required (opamp etc.) in order for it to have a single-ended (3.5mm) output which means that it requires a bit more power to be drawn from the source device (9038S is more efficient) along with a few other performance specs which aren't quite as good as the 9038S.

    How is the sound signature? Warm or bright? Thank you very much.

  • @samma3afans

    @samma3afans

    3 жыл бұрын

    On the 9038S you can change the signature to some degree by installing different firmwares. The normal firmwares just have different digital filters, and whilst they can alter the signature slightly, there is another firmware which specifically allows for some more 2nd order harmonic distortion, which emulates how a tube amplifier affect the sound. This signature is a bit warmer and sounds more natural to me.
