2:14 A mechanic don't use construction, deck screws or even general purpose screws. Screws are usually used on some interior trim pieces, but you don't need a power tool to loosen or tighten those.

I've had this tool for at least 5 yrs and dug it out of mothballs, because i was building a wooden fence and got sick and tired of dropping my screws on the ground and used it for the first time yesterday and loved it.. ps the only draw back i have found is when the screw is set the tip bounces out , but not always tried the dewalt , but the magnet kept breaking and i have two of the dewalt holders featured here.

@@lazycarper7925 Wera is my preferred still. The dewalt will get pulled into action if I want the stronger magnet. Never used the Makita version. The dewalt releases when you pull back while the Wera releases by pushing forward. This difference prevents the bit from being accidently released when driving a screw in to deep.

As a hardware installer I love the pivot holder, no quick release mechanism but it's super handy for tight situations and I keep a pair of needle nose pliers to switch bits which I don't have to do often because I mainly use Phillips screws. It is magnetic too.

I like these, but when I don't want a magnet on the end, or a need a longer reach, I go with an impact extension made by Bosch - them come in 6 or 12 inch lengths. It has a blue ring that you pull to release the bit, and I've never had any trouble getting a bit out of it, or had a bit fall out when in use.

Wera ring magnet! With that, it releases the bit by pulling the collet forward so it won’t drop the bit or release it if you overdrive the fastener. The dewalt will get pushed back by the material you’re fastening and then release the bit. The wera has much better construction than the dewalt as well.

I absolutely love the idea of it being a magnetic bit holder. However, as far as using it for small framing tasks, I can't see how the head of the screw will self-counter sink when toe screwing through the end of a 2x4 like you can with a commonly used straight shank bit. It seems the shoulder on this bit holder would be prevent the countersink. I could be wrong. Anyways, nice locking feature.

I’m assuming these wouldn’t keep a fastener magnetised whilst using a 50mm long bit as opposed to the little bits as it would be too far away for the magnets to pull the screw ?

really would depend on what material the 50mm bit is made of.
