If you take a Statin, Do these 7 things Right Now! (Lipitor, Crestor, Zocor)

Millions of people take a statin (zocor, lipitor, crestor, livalo, lescol, altocor) thinking it will lower their risk of having a heart attack. What they don't know is that the statin is doing these 7 things to their body; even many doctors don't know all 7.
Here is the 7 things a statin does to your body, and steps you can take to minimize the risk. This is not a complete list, statins do many other worrisome things inside your body, the more you research the more you will know...

After 25 years on statins my father was like a zombie and could barely walk. Doc said it was "absolutely necessary" to keep taking them to prevent heart attack or stroke. I asked the doc why the Lipitor warning label says their product does not prevent heart disease or heart attacks to which he had no answer. Stopped taking statins 6 months ago and he has gotten strength in his legs back and regained memory. Statins are poison. Your body needs cholesterol.

I am 68 years female and started taking statins at age of 64 . I had terrible side affects while taking statins, continued bladder infection, foggy memory, muscle pains , my glucose level went up. I was taking so many antibiotics l, medicine for pre diabetes, and bunch of other meds .I felt terrible and stopped taking them all. It was awful couple of years and I thought that is part of aging . I stopped taking them against my doctors advice . Now I watch my carbs and sugar intake , walk a lot and take no meds. I feel fantastic, have a lots of energy. For me all health issue disappeared after I stopped taking statins . It took a while tifeel better. I think few months , and almost a year for all of the symptoms to be completely gone .

So now I've gone down to 5mg and still feel the effects of aging fast, foggy Brain. I did completely stop for a month or so and began to feel better but my Dr. said the benefits out weigh the risks and talked me back into taking the 5mg. He has no calcium in his carotid arteries none in the aorta I think there was a minimal tiny amount somewhere but nothing she said to be concerned about. It literally comes up as nothing, next is a nuclear stress test. He has never had high blood pressure or Adema or any signs of anything like heart related but yet they’re making him take Crestor 40 mg and now he’s having muscle cramps I think after the stress test he’s going to get off the Crestor. I added red beans and rice to my diet, just keep a small crock pot going or in the fridge and have a bowl or two a day (best for evening meal). My next blood work showed I was at 307. I've heard that stopping statins causes a spike in cholesterol. So now that I'm on keto and eating lots of meat It will probably go higher. Now I a bit worried 😮

Then I discovered your channel and several others. The difference between 1% and 3% is 2%, not 50%. It all depends on how you look at it. Absolute vs relative. When discussing the benefits they use relative. When discussing side effects they use absolute. Technically not lying but morally they are. Since going carnivore my blood pressure has dropped so low I don’t take meds for it. I’m 67 years old and not on any meds. I feel great!

Please be careful, I'm no doctor but from the multiple accounts and articles I've read it's not the diet that's helped. In fact in an article I read they say being on the carnivore diet with high blood pressure can make it worse, as well it can cause constipation since you consume little fiber when on the diet. Things like bacon or lunch meat can also be high in sodium and as you probably know, high amounts of salt can lead to high blood pressure. You may also be lacking vitamins that are mostly found in things like fruit and vegetables.

I'm a new registered practical nurse and I hate administering statins to patients, but I feel I don't have enough experience (read: clout) in healthcare yet to advise against it for fear of getting in trouble. It's ridiculous how many medications so many patients are on. The worst is the antibiotics ordered without any gut support. Without fail, tons of our patients end up getting C. Diff, which of course means MORE (harsher) antibiotics. I can't wait to look into studies more and build up my credibility so I can start pushing back against some of these things that worsen patient outcomes. But ultimately I'll have to get out of the hospital setting and into home care because hospitals do not provide holistic health care.

The pain went within a month. I’m now 64 and 6 months ago my GP wanted me to start atorvastatin after blood tests showed raised cholesterol and triglycerides. I said I’d try other remedies. I have been on the carnivore diet since I was three! Don’t eat veges except spuds Eat a lot of fruit, esp bananas, I cook and bake for myself. I live in NZ and had to go to Brisbane, Australia for a liver transplant in 94 for treatment of Hepato-Pulmonary Syndrome. (My 30th anniversary in September) after release, I heard that my favourite ward surgeon, Dr Christine, was leaving the ward to study Plastic surgery, and a lot of the doctors and patients were going to the Norman Pub close to the hospital. The pub has a large garden bar with a fire pit and barbecue so being an ex Advertising Man ( not allowed to go back into that!) and old habits being hard to break, I arrived early and ordered a large medium fillet steak, medium rare. My surgeon, Steve Lynch, arrived soon after, and I greeted him, and said “Steve, I’ve got to buy you a drink, what’ll you have?” He told me, and I went to order it, and a lemonade for myself (!) My dinner arrived, and I tore into it! (didn’t take long to cook that steak!) A beautiful meal, and about halfway through it, Steve reached across the table, tapped the side of my plate next to the steak with his fingernail, and when I looked up, he said, “You know, that is the best thing you can ever put inside yourself.” Thank you, Steve.

A years ago I was referred to a cardiologist due to my chest pain plus shortness of breath, Doctor doubled up my crestor dosage to 10 mg. I felt that my muscles and bones, particularly the chest ribs pains were getting worse. Without talking to any doctors I reduced my crestor dosage down to 5 mg daily. It seems that I am feeling better after a month. In today’s regular visit to my family doctor, I requested his approval to reduce my dosage to 5mg (of course I didn’t tell him I have done it myself), he refused and said it is good for my heart. See…. 😂. Taking 40 mg a day of crestor seems to me is unbelievable, I feel hard to believe it 😢

I was on ststins for 30 years to lower cholesterol. It did. It lowered my LDL from 190 to 50. Then I read the drug trials. Lipitor says reduction of CVD by 36%. But that is relative reduction. Absolute reduction is 1.1% and no change in ACM. An LDL of 50 is considered abetalipoprotenemia where you body does not make enough cholesterol and you die early. Side affects, brain fog, skin cancer, T2D, ED, parkinsons. I fired my doctors. Our body requires cholsterol and recycles the cholesterol. Our brains make their own cholesterol. Older people live longer and have higher brain function with higher cholesterol. I'm happy at 300 total cholsterol.

I'm a physician and was on the fence for years about whether to take a statin. I was on one for a couple of years but stopped it after losing weight. My LDL remains elevated at 150. But what really tipped the scales for me in terms of deciding that I didn't want to continue on a statin was a podcast discussion on KZread between Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr. Robert Lustig. They talked about how LDL is what we treat in medicine because it's what we've got meds for. And if we're going to follow LDL, we should be monitoring the LDL-P (LDL particle number) -- most doctors don't check this.

@@sandradeleon6171 I just quit cold turley, with no noticeable issues. I had lost the ability to do long division in my head, which I've been doing since about fifth grade, and at the age of 75 I just figured it was age related cognitive impairment and probably an early sign of approaching dementia. My wife had also noticed that I had some cognitive decline, and there were other brain fog issues as well, all of which cleared up. At the time I quit, I did not know about the cognitive side effects, or that stopping the statin would resolve them, but when I later read about them, I realized that coming off the statin was the reason for the improvement. When my LDL went through the roof and caused a heart attack (in my doctor, not in me) my PCP demanded I go back on a statin. I told him that even in the unlikely event that the LDL actually significantly increased my heart attack risk, I was not willing to trade brain health for heart health.

My wife had a stroke 5 years ago. To this day, no-one has ever been able to explain why. In fact it took 10 weeks and a brain scan before the stroke was diagnosed. She was extremely fit, of ideal weight, a non-smoker, had perfect heart health and a vegetarian with very low cholesterol levels. Her doctors put her on statins, as they really had no other suggestions. She had monthly blood tests. Within weeks, her liver function deteriorated rapidly. Her doctors stopped her statins and her liver function returned to normal levels. I would not take statins under any circumstances. If my cholesterol level is high, I'll cut all dairy and reduce it naturally.

A calcium score under 100 can be only a minimal to moderate risk of heart problems. If you have high triglycerides you probably need to lower your carbs significantly. I had high triglycerides of 190 in 2022. After doing the carnivore diet for only a few months my triglycerides were down to below 100 to 76 so do some research on your calcium score because I just looked up what a bad score is and 60 ain't it. The elephant in the room is probably just do not take statins. I believe research shows that if you take Statins every day for at least 10 years, your life expectancy increases by maybe 3 days. Mostly cholesterol isn't bad, only the very small dense portion, and low carb etc reduces the incidence of that. If you don't eat enough cholesterol containing foods your body MAKES cholesterol. It is essential to your cells function.
