    Hi David, For me, the 20 min burpee workout is a tough, tough workout. In my head, I split the 20 mins into 5 minute segments. With the 3rd 5 mins mentally the toughest with the last 5 mins mentally easier but physically tougher. But I agree that finishing strong is important. I have taken a lot from your insights into the burpee workouts and hope this continues.

    What’s up Eugene👊! Really appreciate you saying that brother. Thanks so much! And I totally agree with you about the 20 minute routines, and the 5 minute blocks. I love that approach too. Also that 3rd block is definitely the biggest mental hurdle for sure. Keep work hard brother. I’m rooting for you👍!

    There are times in BDP that my pace falls apart, and I just have to accept that I’m going to not be near my target for that session. On those days, I just complete the volume off the clock, write it in my notes, and live to fight another day. The JC is a tough accessory workout in BDP! My last pr was 28 rounds in 20 minutes, you definitely feel it the next day!

  • @DavidWhitten

    That’s a great approach brother👌. Not every time out is gonna be a PR hey. Being consistent is definitely key. And yeah, I love the JC’s. More often than not I just do them without the counts and shoot for 30-50 reps. It’s still a great workout either way. And we must be pretty close in abilities😅👍. I think my best ever was 28 or 29. That’s impressive imo haha. Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts brother. It’s appreciated!

    @@mmwosu ahhh sooo close man, so close!! You’ll have to 100% let me know when you crack the level 4 barrier. You totally got it man! Which do you find harder/easier? Seals or 6 counts? I think you know how I feel haha. I feel like getting 5 extra reps on the six counts could be easier to achieve than adding 5 extra seals🤷‍♂️?

  • @mmwosu

    @mmwosu

    7 ай бұрын

    @@DavidWhitten Adding 5 seals to my total is definitely more significant for me than adding 5 6-counts. Just on a mathematical level, 5 seals is 25% of the jump between levels, while 5 6-counts is only 10% of the jump between (most) BDP levels. For me, I know that usually my 6-counts will arrive at the next level and I’ll be waiting for my seals to catch up. This has been true for me at every stage of the program except level 3, and it looks likely to hold true through level 4 as well. That said, at this time I find my seal workouts more physically challenging, but my 6-count workouts more mentally challenging, as I prefer to do them in an unbroken format - I go down, I go up, 270 times. If I’m lucky I can get into a kind of trance state where I partially zone out by playing math games with the “progress bar” in my head. Let’s me live through the moment without BEING too much in the moment, if that makes any sense.

  • @DavidWhitten

    @DavidWhitten

    7 ай бұрын

    @@mmwosu man that all make perfect sense👌. I totally hear you on the seals. They are the movement that takes the most time and effort to progress. They actually require muscle and muscular endurance, whereas 6 counts are pretty much “mind numbing” cardio haha. I get the zoning out piece too brother. I actually commend you for doing the straight unbroken. That takes some serious mental toughness. I find that just so absolutely daunting. I hope you fall into a deep trance during your next 6 count session and smash through 275 man💪!!

    The most important part of a workout is when you're not working out. Recovery. You could have the best workout of your life. If you don't allow full recovery you get nothing from it. It's like withdrawing some money from your savings account and then lighting it on fire. The idea is to reinvest the withdrawal in a higher interest account.

  • @DavidWhitten

    I know better than to argue with OldNatty haha. But I hear you 100%. That recovery time is so important. I honestly don’t give it the attention and respect it deserves. Life is busy so you are literally just jumping from one thing to the next. Especially this time of the year. But your analogy is spot on👌. No one would light their money on fire hey. So why do it with your training👊💯.

    I'd agree with consistency and avoiding injury, but might say the beginning of the workout is most important, as it can set the tone of the session. If you get the pacing wrong, the exercise selection wrong, it can really effect the rest. but i don't disagree either, the end can show that the rest was good based on the feel and work done 👍
