This WEIRD Strategy Helped Me Finish A Burpee Challenge

Ойын-сауық

Sometimes exercise is not overly enjoyable. When you truly push yourself to reach a certain goal, it often requires you to embrace suffering.
But let me assure you of this. The feeling of accomplishment when you face your fear and reach your goal, is far greater than the discomfort endured during your workout.

At the beginning of October 2023, I began a challenge with the goal being to reach level 4 of the Busy Dad Training program ‪@busydadtraining‬
To reach level 4, I would have to complete the following 2 workouts, within 1 week of each other.
1. 275 6 count burpees in 20 minutes
2. 120 10 count navy seal burpees in 20 minutes.
I completed the 10 count routine on November 19, 2023. (Posted Nov. 23rd)
I completed this 6 count workout on November 21, 2023. (Posted Nov. 27th)

Mixing burpees/push ups with other exercises (running, pull ups, sandbag cleans, kettlebell carries, barbell squats, deadlifts, row, ski erg, etc). Having said that I finished an IW classic yesterday evening: no burpees, just 500 push ups/squats (ladder 2-20-2-2-20-2, then 10x10. Good stimulus! Doing abs work as well. But the 275 is on my list (somehow I find navy seals a lot easier: 134 in 20 mins for me). O, and I have done the Spartan 100 burpees several times now: 100 reps of 3-pump/3 jump squats. Thanks so much for taking the time to check this out. I appreciate it a lot! I’m not sure if you exercise with burpees or not, however if you do, I hope a little of what I rambled on about will be of some use to you. Thanks again my friend👊!

@@DavidWhitten I agree, it's too specialised for my liking, it's the equivalent of being obsessed by marathon running, or sprinting below 11s or something... But in this case perhaps more comparable to something in the 20min range which I can't think of currently, endurance with a touch of strength 🫤🤔🧐it's a known phenomenon that being overly specialised leads to injuries

As for what’s next, I’ve been trying to do a pyramid of 1-10-1 of navy seals and pull-ups, all in under 25 minutes. I might give that a little attention here over the coming weeks. If there’s anything you’d like to see me try, please let me know👍. I’m always up for suggestions. I hope your training is also going well brother👊.
