I listened to Fiona Bruce on QT, In my honest opinion, there was NOTHING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING Offensive or wrong about what she said. She simply clarified the issue. She has nothing to apologise for. She simply repeated what other people had said. This reaction is completely over the top. Shame on her critics and shame on Refuge, for allowing her to step down. As for the part of her comment, "It was a one off", again this was simply what friends of Stanley Johnson had said. It was NOT AN ENDORSEMENT OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. This Larissa, is being childish, and quite honestly totally ridiculous. How the hell have we come to this? Fiona Bruce has represented Refuge for 25 years, that fact along demonstrates her stance AGAINST DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. When I was a kid there was a TV show called ‘Points of View’ where BBC viewers could write in to complain about their shows. Some of the people writing in provided constructive criticism but a large number of them were clearly just miserable attention seekers who were actively looking for opportunities to be offended. It was entertaining because there was an understanding that people complaining for the sake of it should not be taken seriously. In the age of social media, especially Twitter, seeking attention through complaining has never been easier and these types of people are not just being taken seriously, they are actually affecting people’s careers and that is a big step back for our society and culture.

As a survivor of domestic violence watching QT I was not in the least offended or upset about Fiona Bruce’s comments. She was doing the job she was paid to do. It sounded like she was making it clear there were allegations that were denied, as any journo should do in order to avoid their employer being sued. If she has stepped down over that then that is a huge mistake.

The real issue here is the people like Larrisa who show a complete fundamental ignorance and lack of understanding to this situation and misrepresent it here in interview. She complains to Piers at the end that he was patronising to her but if you're going to behave like a child in your response and display a deep lack of understanding and complete ignorance, frankly Piers had no choice. What a very very very very stupid woman. The other two ladies explained it perfectly. Larrisa was not even aware that she is a big part of the problem herself, major ignorance. The Bosses at Refuge should be ashamed of themselves for allowing this to even happen. What the woman said to Fiona on the episode of question time about Stanley Johnson being a domestic abuser was the one in the wrong (can't think of her name) as he has never commented on the issue publicly, there is no way of her actually knowing that it is a fact, no real evidence, no conviction to an offence. If there was true balance you let both women speak without interrupting them Then you as the moderator come back with your challenge Piers allowed the first women twice to speak without interruption When the second woman spoke he immediately interrupted her in mid flow even as she stated “ let me finish what I’m going to say “ It’s all a game for piers . I’m an oldie and recently i watched an American interview were people were asked which countries have free speech. Before answering he interrupted and said the UK no longer hold that privilege which surprised me because instantly I thought that wasn’t true. But on thinking about it in more detail I realised he was right. You can get arrested by the feeling police if any member of the public accuse you of verbal abuse (just for telling them to mind there own business and push off) on the crime of either causing a disturbance, sighting verbal hate crime, people feel threatened by you. Just generally looking suspicious and your in the sh%#€$ with the law over literally nothing. The police are acting like they do in the US and thank god they don’t carry a gun. Years ago you could stand on a box in central London park and spout crap about what you believe/think and either be ignored or challenged on your views. Today you would be arrested for offending someone. There’s something seriously wrong here!

It's time to give up when this sort of thing happens. There is no question she has done nothing wrong. However on the point in the statement of it being a one off there is something of relevance. In court if someone has been found guilty of an offence there previous record and behaviour is taken into consideration and quite rightly so and quite rightly so if they are repeat offenders they get and deserve stiffer punishments. This is not condoning violence, which is never acceptable. any offender of any crime or misdeed is worse the more often they commit it and if you can't understand that you're an idiot. That does not mean you get a free pass on the first offence!

How dare anyone impugn Fiona Bruce? Thank you, Piers, for your spiritied and justified defence of a wonderful TV personality. Demolishing the arguments of the woman with braids was great to watch.

Larissa has not shown that she understands that the sentence "It was a one off" was part of the quote from what the man's friends said. It wasn't Fiona Bruce's statement, and it wasn't even the statement of whoever gave her the information. It was a part of the statement from the man himself and if it had been left off, that would have been an incorrect quote.

It wasn't fionas opinion sayin "it was a once off" , the lady on the left doesn't understand that, she was told what to say that statement with no judgement , the whole situation is ridiculous, poor fiona

There’s opinion and there’s judgement. A lot of these shows are nothing but judgemental rather then informative. It’s sad people gravitate to the negative of the world like this man clearly is. He’s very unhappy yet does nothing but bash rather then help or sort anything out. And point fingers.

Not sure I understand the point of people like him And several others who are famous for being an asshole in how they put things about others. Or say it with nerve to their faces. Conversations and logic and with genuine care should been taken into consideration well before opening one’s mouth on tv.

Refuge didn't deserve her if they could so easily throw her under the bus, after all the years she worked with them. FB did nothing wrong, she simply quoted the response in front of her.Was she supposed to change their wording ? Shamefully disappointing behaviour from Refuge.

Isn’t it interesting how an actual victim of domestic abuse wasn’t offended by the statement read by Fiona Bruce. It’s like Ricky Gervais says, it’s always people offended on someone else’s behalf.

Saying that according to anonymous friends it was a one-off has nothing to do with a right of reply. Reply must come from him, or someone he has authorized to speak on his behalf. The BBC is going to absurd lengths to preserve’balance’.

The "One Off" coimment was said by someone else, Fiona was not saying those words as a personal OPINION of hers, she was just repeating what had been said by others. The WOKE crowd need to be rounded up and sent to an island ..

Piers is living proof that getting cancelled is not the end...

Finally we have someone on the left clearly stating their intentions. She is saying that they needed to cut off the quote at the point that would put any doubt in the minds of the viewers. Basically take quotes out of context so that only one side is having their story told.

Please forgive me for using this quote without mentioning the author, I don’t know who said it first. It goes like this: They came for the protesters, and you kept quiet, then came for the Jewish and you kept quiet, then for the Catholic and still quiet, then they came for you. I don’t know the correct quote, but you know what I mean.

It’s a sad sad day when people are literally traumatized by someone repeating what had already been reported.

As a journalist your job is to paint out the full story with all the details you can possibly know of, that is what she did. Nobody is saying "oh that's fine, it was just a one off", nobody in the right mind is excusing it so why the hell are they coming after Fiona?! It's grim and the other guest said it well that Fiona was also protecting the people she represents from legal issues. She was never agreeing with the defense, she was putting forward all the details she knew!

It's not even about journalism or her her opinion etc...... It was about legality and even then she didn't chose to say anything for legality on her own back but she was told to as a representative of the BBC..... Even then nothing wrong was said or taking a side, just purely covering the BBC legally...... I agree with you by the way (in case my comment comes across wrong) I'm just saying it's nothing more then covering the BBC legally and even then it was only done so because of someone on the panels veiw

Piers the fact is if you work for someone your just a number & will be disposed of at anytime they wish to.

It is not possible to rationalize with an individual who believes emotions are rational.

Omg what have we come too! Fiona is an amazing hard working, amazing role model. Omg

well, i find larissa intolerable, i have seen her on the show 3 times now, and all 3 times i feel like she is absolutly horrible, her arguments suck and her her constantly playing a victim is just a sign her arguments are bad and when preasured and piers doesnt agree with her, she gets offended like a little child..
