If US and Russia used nukes - Would there be a winner?

Ойын-сауық

What happens during a nuclear explosion? Who has a bigger nuclear arsenal, Russia or US? Who has more missiles, submarines and more bombers? Who would lose more and who would be the winner? This video tries to answer those questions!

    99% of Canada is completely unpopulated. All the major cities such as my home town, Toronto, are close enough to be destroyed by heat and radiation coming from across the border. I can see Buffalo NY across Lake Ontario, from my house on a clear day. Sad enough, Canada will not survive a nuclear exchange.

    Without even counting the collateral damage from nukes, Canada's economy would collapse since 3/4 of it's trade is done with the U.S. alone.

    Unless we (the USA) have nukes and highly militarized bases there, I have a feeling that most of Canada would survive just fine. Quebec isn't an 'enemy' that could reach out and punish the USSR (oops, sorry, 'Russia') afterward, so aside from heat blasts... if the wind is favorable, Canada (in my mind) would probably do OK - until the nuclear winter set in as I imagine that, while a global thing, the farther north one is, the worse a NW would be (not sure about that, though). Let's just hope we continue on our current track of attempting to make Canada's and Russia's growing seasons longer with our successful implementation of Global Warming.

    I live in the Lower East Side of Manhattan (it’s the hook of Manhattan) so no matter what I’m dead. Even if I made it to my closest subway, or basement it would be nearly a direct bit. I don’t even think I would want to survive anyway. The suffering that would precede such a tragedy seems like a worst fate then instant death.

    The Australian army deploys its forces in Western Australia into the outback, but the Emus home ground advantage allows them to repel the soldiers trickling in. Soldiers would not move in mass groups due to logistical issues, and after the initial failure, would pull out and wait for bombings. Emus would take heavy casualties from initial runs, and immediately move south, as they did during the First Emu War. Emus would overrun small town like Coolgardie, and the Australians would not risk collateral damage. The Aussie tanks are deployed for liberation maneuvers, but Emus have shown to be able to outrun tanks, and lead them into rough terrain. The Emus would most likely split, one group distracts and makes the tanks break down or retreat, while the other moves further south towards the West Coast. Australian satellite imagery would track them, but only until it is too late. By then, Emus would have assaulted Mandurah. Many soldiers would retreat to Perth and set up defences, while the tanks pull back towards Perth. The second Emu force would follow them back, and the two sides would flank Perth. I expect extremely heavy casualties on both sides, especially the Emus, but after days of fighting, the defenders would run low on supplies. Any supply route would have been cut off, and convoys ambushed. Perth surrenders, and Australia would thus secede Western Australia to the Emus as Emuland., Perth and the larger coastal cities stay in Australian hands, as free ports in Emuland.

And lets not even get started on economic collapse with the loss of the USA to global markets Australia and New Zealand are the only real winners, being small relatively self sufficient, deep in the southern hemisphere and lacking serious internal conflicts, they could possibly survive as post-war nations.

    Out of curiosity where in Africa are you? It's an enormous and diverse continent and it's situation varies wildly depending upon regions. The problem (Aside from economic collapse and nuclear fallout) is that any small division or conflict will be amplified a thousandfold in the event of a war like this. Imagine the Mexican cartels, the Somali pirates etc. The African countries are new and Artificially created by European powers, many of them suffer from internal divisions, Imagine if Britain and France were the same country for example, or Greece and Turkey.

    Barney Collington I'm from South Africa. yes, it is massively diverse and the economic fallout with be big. But without NATO military, will make little difference to us. My counties military is activity fighting piracy under the UN charter in Somalia and the rest of Africa as needed. NATO had already cause a lot of destabilized both African states. Mainly Libya, Somalia, Sudan, etc. My point was a focused on the NATO military going away. Nothing to do with the economic issues that will come from such a war, nevermind the actual devastation of a nuclear fallout that would effect the entire planet

    "Jim Creek Naval Radio Station is a United States Navy very low frequency (VLF) radio transmitter facility at Jim Creek near Oso, Washington. The primary mission of this site is to communicate orders one-way to submarines of the Pacific fleet. Radio waves in the very low frequency band can penetrate seawater and be received by submerged submarines which cannot be reached by radio communications at other frequencies. Established in 1953, the transmitter radiates on 24.8 kHz with a power of 1.2 megawatts and a callsign of NLK, and is one of the most powerful radio transmitters in the world. Located near Arlington, Washington, in the foothills of the Cascades, north of Seattle, the site has 5,000 largely forested acres (2,000 ha)."

    You can't even imagine how stupid his videos are and filled with various kinds of misinformation, distortions, inaccuracies, omissions, and so on. For example, this whole video is a complete mess, it simply omitted all the strategic advantages of Russia, such as hypersonic missiles in service with Russia, the best missile defense systems in the world, the best electronic warfare systems. NATO has no defense against hypersonic missiles. Do you know what that means? That means Russia will be able to hit all NATO facilities with a guaranteed result. That is, destroy the ENTIRE FLEET (including aircraft carriers), destroy military bases, warehouses, decision-making centers (government and military buildings), missile defense systems, airfields. By destroying missile defense systems, Russia will gain air supremacy under the cover of its own missile defense systems and then, with the help of aviation, drones, loitering munition, cruise missiles, it will destroy enemy ground forces. And those, in turn, will not be able to do anything about it, since it is almost impossible to shoot down missiles and loitering munition with manual complexes.

    Having lived under the threat of nuclear war with the USA and Russia since the Cuban Missile Crisis, the threat of all out war is ever more immediate. Recent developments in the evolution of modern warfare equipment, carrier and battle cruiser, air support, etc. make both sides believe a limited war in scope is possible. Limited exchanges only increase the possibility of all out nuclear disaster. Both countries want a faster lethal strike- so both want to move nuclear bases closer to their targets- so locations like Greenland, unmanned submarines (which are smaller but very capable), hypersonic missiles, missiles on orbiting satellite platforms are very attractive. Once one country believes that a death blow can be dealt before the other country can mobilize- war will becomes less unthinkable.

    Just curious: what's the typical yield of the types of Russian ICBM's that would likely be used to target an air force base? I'm assuming they wouldn't use the bigger "city-buster" nukes on a smaller military target like an air base. I live a few miles from such a target, so maybe I'm more than just curious...

  • @jaffacalling53

    @jaffacalling53

    Depends on what ICBM is used to target the airbase. If it's a MIRV then lower yield, 100-500 kt. If it only carries a single warhead, then a megaton in yield.

In this scenario they'd probably have a similar problem.
