Is it Obaseki's job to fix Federal roads? Why does any governor need to approach the FG for the FG to do its job? Why should the state spend their scarce resources on Federal and be sitting duck waiting for refund to fix sate roads? Two years ago I drove through this very dangerous road. This past Monday, I drove through this same treacherous road again. The tragic and pathetic thing about this road is that it’s only about a mile long. Be prepared to spend four to six hours on this stretch of one mile road. It is the most dangerous road in Nigeria and it has posed a nightmare to Nigeria’s travelers and especially eighteen wheeler trailer drivers. Trailer drivers trying desperately to navigate their way through this death trap ☠️ sometimes have their vehicles flip over on their side and literally block traffic for weeks. Some trailers get stranded for days at this junction. Edo state governors could care less about the dangers and loss of revenue by those plying this road and the state. Edo claims it’s a federal road, the federal government claims they have awarded the contract several times and contractors have disappeared. They keep passing the buck and neither the state or federal agency wants to fix the damn road. Hell, y’all fix the damn road so that Nigerians can breathe a sigh of relief..😡😡😡😡😡☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️🇳🇬

This beyond politics, take responsibility of party APC failure at the center, that you're now the minister charge with the responsibility, seeing the failure of your ministry previously, now that your on the desk , take bull by the horn and do the needful. You don't do it singing, but doing swinging into power. Essential here is federal road, Edo state governor it's very right to demand federal govt should the needful, thank you minister

Fashola was a failure. He spent 8 years building the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, the Lagos-Badagry Expressway, the 2nd Niger Bridge, and Kaduna-Abuja Road and he did not complete them. Work is still going on on some of the roads he built. Elder Edwin Clark accused Fashola of neglecting Federal roads in the South-South.

Federal roads are in the exclusive list. Must the state government use the little allocation for the state to repair federation of roads? Why this negligence?

This is a political talk from you David Umahi, he doesn't need our permission to intervene in a better life to the people of Edo State, but i want him to approach the Ministry of Works and seek his permission or even if he send me a request on WhatsApp I will give him approval within 2 hours. The potency of your statement is that will approve the road only if he seek for permission from you the Minister of Works. Where you not part of the later part of Buhari's government stopped him from doing the gederal roads even he awarded it to a contractor the federal government claimed they have awarded the road already which the people are still waiting to see. Are you now saying that Obaseki should go ahead and repair the roads your ministry has already claimed to have awarded? You be people are playing politics with Edo State and her people. It’s not about working on federal roads, the problem is they inflate the price when they want refund for the government. If you want to work on it for your people, go ahead, don’t ask for refund.

I live in Europe, Bundesrepublik Deutschland (the federal republic of Germany) for that matter. I can say clearly that there's no day declared as Environmental Sanitation day because the people are though with stringent conditions and laws on how to keep their refuse and are always informed when the various companies in charge will come and pick the refuse for them to be put by the roadsides for desposeser by the companies incharge. This is what people will always encounter in a non working, lawlessness and lack of implementation of proper policies of people and human friendly, both the government and the governed will always be Draconians and victims of enforcement and defaults.

FG doesn't payback monies from state coffers that are used to maintain the federal roads, that's a serious challenge. What is FG doing with the road allocations? Gov Obaseki is very right to say what he said. It least Umahi should give him timeline when the money shall be paid back to the state Treasury, am sure that's what the Edo Governor is saying
