While I don't wanna the guy that says, "well, actually according to..." right now, but, well, actually according to the canon lore, while lembas _does_ provide pretty much everything the body needs to function for a long time, it _doesn't_ fill the stomach, so while a grown man might be able to sustain himself on one cake (give or take a bit depending on metabolism) a day (the one bite thing was a movie only line and an exaggeration by Legolas), it would _still_ feel like your stomach was empty and you still would get hunger pangs.

Lembas bread has surpassed butter as the most calorie efficient food to carry for weight (xkcd). Bonus of being nutritionally complete, and not as nauseating. I had pemmican one time though (dried meat and fruit and such, pulverized and bound together in fat, super old food preservation method) and it was shocking how filling it was. It's what I imagine eating lembas would feel like in terms of the psychological 'this bite sized thing is making me feel completely full what the heck'. Nibbling at a chunk the size of a big bite was good enough for lunch for a day, but you have to make sure to drink water so you don't get dehydrated. An energy bar size is good enough for a whole day. It was really good though, dried and pulverized local grass fed cow and cranberries bound in beef tallow with a few dried herbs. Tart, just a touch sweet, very savory, odd texture at first but it grew on me (think of white chocolate with a ton of additives so it's sort of grainy). We made it ourselves, and it was fun. Also our dried cranberries came out super different from storebought. They were super crispy and tart, and not really chewy and were barely sweet, which makes sense because crasins have additives, but I still didn't expect it for some reason.

@@ninjabgwriter Huh, you also made them with dried cranberries? Small world. Also, I can affirm what ninja said about pemmican. Very savory, slightly tart. Texture like white chocolate but very grainy. Very filling. Very drying. I didn't add herbs though.

As a huge Lord of the Rings fan that was the most beautiful commercial I ever seen. Bravo 👏.

@@KanohiVahi You forgot about Golum's tooth. When Frodo later discussed his need to leave Middle Earth, he didn't even mention the spear, saying that he had been pierced by a sword, a stinger, and a tooth. The Morgul blade still seemed to be the worst of the three. It is the only wound which Frodo always struggled with on the anniversary of it.

If I remember right you get very depressed if you eat too much Lembas, because it makes you want to go to the undying lands (where it is originally from). Something about mortals not being meant to eat bread made for the immortals, making them crave immortality. Obviously none of that would happen if you are an Elf. But it has been a while, I cannot be sure.

If I remember correctly, eating Lembas bread alone for long periods of time actually increases its good effects on you, making you stronger and increasing your stamina. If the hobbits had eaten only Lembas bread for the majority of their journey, they would have had a better time of it in Mordor.

I think Frodo and Sam got a bit depressed because they got tired of eating it for such a long time (cue the meme of Sam saying, “PO-TAY-TOES”), but I don’t think that’s an actual side effect. It’s probably lore from D&D or something, though. 🧝‍♂️ 🍞
