I love that on the product page, Dan's blob is the only one which doesn't have any credentials listed. Everyone else on there is like "Mastering Engineer" with a bunch of AAA artists and Dan's testimonial blurb just says "Dan Worrall". Acceptable, imo.

It is actually required by law (FTC) to disclose sponsorship when you publish content on KZread. Since the site is based on US soil, this law applies to everyone using it, and thus, what Dan did is absolutely needed, not just respectful.

It's refreshing to see honest reviews. I understand that today, more than ever, artists and musicians are struggling to achieve financial freedom and that commercial partnerships and sponsorships are a crucial source of income for some, but ultimately it's bad for the consumer when the people involved are incentivized to not say anything negative or speak their mind honestly. Personally, I rarely reference sponsored content when evaluating a product because I don't feel like i'm getting the complete story. I'm more likely to just read user reviews on forums. Hopefully more companies will see that allowing honest reviews of their products will ultimately lead to more consumer trust and more profits. As always, thanks Dan for the wonderful content. I look forward to the next one!

I'm not even honestly sure 'sponsored' is the best term here because as far as I can see it's a very healthy relationship whereas sponsorship can sometimes seem questionable credibility-wise. You say you have 100% creative freedom, your bona fides and insight are rock-solid so it's in the dev's and ultimately the user's best interest to get a quality product into your hands and take any insight that can effectively be integrated to heart. That plus Dan getting paid? 3-way win if you ask me.

Just a thought: look into elevate. I got it in a sale bundle deal (I just wanted the transient shaper punctuate), and I'm very impressed. I've been using a couple others, including TDR limiter 6, which I have liked very much. But now I think, for the time being, I might use the two in series.... What I notice is that elevate preserves high end transients better (even after a clipping stage; I use standardclip because of the high-degree oversampling and linear-phase filters). Boost seems to also preserve transients very well....

transparency is essential when it comes to evaluating the myriad of plug-ins out there. It's all to easy for me to be sucked into the marketing of a product's amazing qualities that will help make my music 'better.' Clear and informed perspectives will always help me in deciding something is really going to benefit me over the 'other' purchases I've already made. From this critique, I hope the mid/side issue is attended to soon. :-)

I recently got elevate on sale, and I'm pretty impressed by how it handles transients even with not much tweaking. Also, to me, it's looks like the big knob in the middle is just setting the ceiling for a clipper, and focus is just the softness of the clipping....

Very little chance to be honest. I don't own all those limiter plugins for a start. And I'm not sure how objective I could be comparing a plugin I know really well (from a developer who's a good client of mine) with others that I'm not familiar with. I'm sure they're all good enough to finish a master and allow it to compete with its peers on streaming platforms. The question "which one can ruin a mix most transparently" doesn't really interest me ;)

“Negative comments and dislikes help to boost the video.” You know Dan is a genius when he can not only make you completely rethink how you use your Audio algorithms, but the damn KZread algorithm at the same time. Like creating an Emphasis/De-emphasis encoder/decoder matrix around UAD plug-Ins that lack any side-chaining capabilities, active solicitation of the Thumbs Down is some Jedi master level shit! I’m buying Boost only BECAUSE they’re paying you for this video. And message to anyone else that wants to pay Mr. Worrall to spread life altering audio wisdom into the vastness of the World Wide Web: like an A-List Actor, many of us will buy opening weekend tickets to ANYTHING Dan is in, without even knowing what your movie’s about. Even during a pandemic. You already KNOW it’s gonna be good, because Dan Worrall is staring, and EVERY Dan Worrall movie is an instant classic. So pay up!
