I love that on the product page, Dan's blob is the only one which doesn't have any credentials listed. Everyone else on there is like "Mastering Engineer" with a bunch of AAA artists and Dan's testimonial blurb just says "Dan Worrall". Acceptable, imo.
Sponsored vids are great! You are like the "final boss" for a plugin developer because of how thorough you are.
the fact that you've said it is a kind of promotional video makes a huge difference in honesty and respect between you and pensado for example, who says a tutarial word in every video with a big smile on his face, but non of them are

It is actually required by law (FTC) to disclose sponsorship when you publish content on KZread. Since the site is based on US soil, this law applies to everyone using it, and thus, what Dan did is absolutely needed, not just respectful.
"...negative comments and dislikes help to *boost* the video." Nice one, Dan :)
This looks good. A balanced review and a responsive developer.
Not at all offended! I actually really enjoyed this walkthrough and liked that the developer still gave you complete free creative control about what you were to say. 👍 I just hope it doesn’t *delay* a certain introduction video too much. 😉
Actually, this promotional video felt even better than the other ones. Lots of integrity from your part and from the developers. Congrats on such genuine collaboration.
Sponsorship is ok! You did a great job explaining the plug-in as always, without trying to hype or sell it in an inappropriate manner. :)
By all means accept more of these sponsored reviews. It's a great way to introduce new products to people, who would not otherwise find them, while also showing some potential uses for the said product! Cheers!
Boost is one of the best plugins ive purchased. Seriously powerful
Dan, PLEASE consider re-uploading your ALCHEMY tutorial videos!!! So cool to see you using it in this video. I'm still using the old synth to this day and would love to revisit what you taught in those tutorials.
This is how a sponsored video on a product should have been made. Pros and Cons according to the content creator. I am going to buy the plugin as its got really nice features.
This plugin is the single most useful thing I've ever bought for music. The thing I always struggled with was making a mix loud and keeping the clarity of tone I wanted, without clipping in my DAW. Is this inexperience? Yes. But this solves my problem completely and I'm all for that.
Transparency, is the key. Superb video!

It is a great plugin. Love the last sentence before "thanks for watching", "Negative comments and dislikes help boost the video, so don't hold back" 🤣😂
No issues with anyone trying to make an honest living; the keyword being honest. You are just that! One of the main reasons why I respect what you say so much.
I like the Devious Machines products as whoever designs the plugins has an imagination I appreciate
I have enjoyed your videos and voice-overs, it seems, forever and very grateful for your unique and honest approach, sponsored or otherwise: cheers :)
Great work again Dan. I enjoy watching your tutorials and this being sponsored is not at all off-putting, as you’ve retained creative control. This is a balanced and thorough review, with negatives pointed out. Love the style too!
Fantastic video - Really love the attention to detail (as always)... I think sponsored videos are great, your style and honesty make for fantastic walk throughs, so many videos miss the point - Yours are always spot on, I'd like to see more sponsored content! Have been using Boost for a while now (Dave is an amazing developer) - You summed it up perfectly!!
Happy you have sponsored videos that means another way of income so well deserved by the quality and the knowledge you share, thanks and keep the videos comming !!
The sounds and chords in this music is amazing.. All the music in your videos blows me away man.
As usual, splendid analysis!
Always enjoy your thorough deep dives.🙂
It's refreshing to see honest reviews. I understand that today, more than ever, artists and musicians are struggling to achieve financial freedom and that commercial partnerships and sponsorships are a crucial source of income for some, but ultimately it's bad for the consumer when the people involved are incentivized to not say anything negative or speak their mind honestly. Personally, I rarely reference sponsored content when evaluating a product because I don't feel like i'm getting the complete story. I'm more likely to just read user reviews on forums. Hopefully more companies will see that allowing honest reviews of their products will ultimately lead to more consumer trust and more profits. As always, thanks Dan for the wonderful content. I look forward to the next one!
Your channel at its best, offers no-nonsense, myth-busting explanations of audio engineering concepts. You seem like a creator with integrity; I hope you'll treat your sponsored products as educational opportunities, and let your sponsors beware that they had better have a quality product on offer if they want you to review it.
Hell yea man, congrats on getting a sponsor, well deserved if you ask me!
Where have U bn all my life!!! I've seen tons of videos but this video nailed it! Thanks again
The combination of Dan's melodic voice, the choices of music (are they your own?) + the super expert knowledge, make this so awesome.
Perfect. Something to learn.
Thank you for a creative manual video. Also thank you on the new features suggested.
haha I love the end line. helpful as always. thank you Dan!
I'm quite taken back by this plugin. Gives that radio broadcast feel. could be useful! Thanks for bringing this to my attention and kudos to the developer for the plugin and the smarts for giving you a free rein.
These guys make Texture which is another cool creative plugin.Nice vid as usual Dan.Thank you.
I REALLY like the sound of this. Despite a folder full of big $ limiters, I think this has a place in my immediate future. Going to research it. Thanks, Dan.
Thanks for an informative, honest review and tutorial. I like the product but get the most benefit from hearing your discussion about it.Thanks, Dan Worrall.
Even though it is sponsored, it still feels honest and reliable. Great content as always.
Congratulations on your first sponsored video! I really enjoyed this limiter when I tried it out awhile ago, but wasn't quite sold on it.
Great review. Sounds very convincing. Think I'm gonna buy this when it's going to be on sale one day.
I am happy for you Dan. Receiving payment because you deserve it. Your channel is the best IMO. I've learned so much from you and continue to do so.
I'm not even honestly sure 'sponsored' is the best term here because as far as I can see it's a very healthy relationship whereas sponsorship can sometimes seem questionable credibility-wise. You say you have 100% creative freedom, your bona fides and insight are rock-solid so it's in the dev's and ultimately the user's best interest to get a quality product into your hands and take any insight that can effectively be integrated to heart. That plus Dan getting paid? 3-way win if you ask me.
As always a fantastic expanded review Dan! Love your professionality wheather it's paid or free...
Thanks for introducing such a sweet plug in
THANK YOU, DAN!! 🤩
Very interesting. I need to demo this ✌🏼 Excellent review as always 🔥
This concept is incredibly useful - I am surprised more limiters don't take advantage of a similar concept to the Focus tool here. This + a clipper is clearly all you need for super loud, transparent masters.
Ive been using the waves L1 for almost a decade, and have been looking for a more flexible limiter. This is exactly what the doctor ordered.

Just a thought: look into elevate. I got it in a sale bundle deal (I just wanted the transient shaper punctuate), and I'm very impressed. I've been using a couple others, including TDR limiter 6, which I have liked very much. But now I think, for the time being, I might use the two in series.... What I notice is that elevate preserves high end transients better (even after a clipping stage; I use standardclip because of the high-degree oversampling and linear-phase filters). Boost seems to also preserve transients very well....

I'd also suggest checking out the FabFilter limiter if you haven't already. Well, I'd also suggesting checking out everything FabFilter makes if you haven't already. ;)
this is a very transparent limiter indeed and the focus slider really adds some proper hype factor
I trust you when you evaluate plugins and i learn new things.
❤ Opened KZread, saw this video as the first recommendation. Smiled. Watched. Liked.
I personally don't know anything about audio engineering, but your explanations both give me an idea of what is happening and what to listen for. I wonder if you consider the less knowledgable viewers, but regardless of that, well done!
Fantastic. I’m shocked you’re not typically sponsored. Your videos are gold. I know I buy just about everything you demonstrate and praise.

^dear Dan, thank u for your existent. as i see, not many engineers know you .. but everyone who knows u ... is thankful that u exist. want to thank u!!!
it's cool man. nice video
Where has this been all my life?! If I wasn't a total bundle owner and bought Pro-L separately, I would probably sell it on. This is a fraction of the price, more versatile and much more streamlined, encouraging experimentation with a nice wide sweet spot.

Never hurts to have more tools in the toolbox to choose from! :)
thanks for the discount!
Definitely take more sponsored gigs! Still great to hear your perspective. Make that money. Also, Boost is great. Been using it for about a year now. Definitely my new favorite limiter.
Whatever they're paying you, it's money well spent. Nobody else could have made me look at a product like this. I won't be buying it but still, you did make me look.
Sponsored or not, I get to learn so much from your videos, that I can never be offended.
Loving your honesty 🎺🎹👍
Definitely saving up for this
very interesting, thanks!
Really good video(s) honest opinions and certainly no bs.. keep it up :-)
transparency is essential when it comes to evaluating the myriad of plug-ins out there. It's all to easy for me to be sucked into the marketing of a product's amazing qualities that will help make my music 'better.' Clear and informed perspectives will always help me in deciding something is really going to benefit me over the 'other' purchases I've already made. From this critique, I hope the mid/side issue is attended to soon. :-)
Great video! It's fine to do sponsored videos as long as you're clear about it, especially if it means you do more videos! :)
Awesome content
I've demoed it and loved it a while ago. But it was pricey for me. Now this discount may be a game changer.
My favourite limiter and compressor...
Great video; I've been waiting for a good review of this limiter. It looks and sounds impressive. Dan, could you compare this one to elevate? I recently got elevate on sale, and I'm pretty impressed by how it handles transients even with not much tweaking. Also, to me, it's looks like the big knob in the middle is just setting the ceiling for a clipper, and focus is just the softness of the clipping....
Just keep up doing videos like this, but i'm afraid some plug-in will be out of the market because of your feedback :))) whoever sposored you to make video about their plug-in are really brave guys
So should we comment and "downvote" the video for even more views? Love your video, Dan. Always informative. Always entertaining. Always.

Amazing!!!!
Im down for whatever gets you to make more videos 🤙
It's so funny how this is one of the most useful and amazing audio tools currently available and so little people know about it
Not offended! Keep it up Dan
I personally don't mind sponsored videos as long as what you're saying is 100% your opinion
Let's all pause for a moment and consider Devious Machine's website quote from this video. The attribution? blah blah stuffed full of creative blah blah "THE Dan Worrall." I swear I'm beginning to feel sorry for the little people in Independent Dan's life right now. He's now got Definite Articles in front of his name. This is L. Ron Hubbard level deification happening right in front of our eyes. We couldn't be prouder, mate. Keep it up.
id like to see this one vs invisible limiter - im not sure which one to get - thanks pal
Yeah I would rather a promo video like this that isn’t afraid to point out the flaws. I would guess this will still work out really well from the Dev anyway - hell, I’m going to grab it right now. Haha.
Told my band mates last weekend "if it's too loud you're too old" LOL
Slates MU buss compressor has the same fault in M/S mode
Where can I hear more of that background track? Those synths are something else.
Hey Dan, do you remember the Sony Inflator? did you ever get word of how that plug worked? Always used to impress me, well the party trick of increasing full scale white noise did anyway.
Great content as always. Where I can hear composition from vid? Liked a lot.

Only here: it was tailor made for this video. Glad you liked it :)
I like the plugin, I think it looks cool and sounds very nice, but I would like to know how different is this from using a leveler? Can a leveler be used in mastering?
I always find amazing how deep you can go into analyzing a plugin. And the fact that you are paid does not seem to influence your judgement, so no problem for me. But we must also admit that the plugin developper is very courageous to enter naked in the arena and even to pay his own potential executioner 😀
Can We Get A Video On Multi Band Procesing, Attack & Release Tips, And How To Find A Sweet Spot To Compress Low End Without Compromising Punchiness. Thanks! Your Videos Are Insightful And Very Helpful!
thx
Any chance you could compare this to say the top 10 most used limiters right now like Fab-L, TC Electronics Brickwall Limiter(still not sure if this is a direct of the Powercore version as that was awesome and still is better than any plugin I've heard yet), Sonnox, etc?
@DanWorrall
3 жыл бұрын
Very little chance to be honest. I don't own all those limiter plugins for a start. And I'm not sure how objective I could be comparing a plugin I know really well (from a developer who's a good client of mine) with others that I'm not familiar with. I'm sure they're all good enough to finish a master and allow it to compete with its peers on streaming platforms. The question "which one can ruin a mix most transparently" doesn't really interest me ;)
I love your videos and your MUSIC. Any chance that i could hear this track somewhere?

Yeah I need to hear this somewhere
Umm.....you're paid for the Fabfilter vids that are amazing. I would say with this non scripted format, we are lucky to hear the pros and cons. Keep up the good work Dan
Still great content, sponsored or not, thumbs up.
“Negative comments and dislikes help to boost the video.” You know Dan is a genius when he can not only make you completely rethink how you use your Audio algorithms, but the damn KZread algorithm at the same time. Like creating an Emphasis/De-emphasis encoder/decoder matrix around UAD plug-Ins that lack any side-chaining capabilities, active solicitation of the Thumbs Down is some Jedi master level shit! I’m buying Boost only BECAUSE they’re paying you for this video. And message to anyone else that wants to pay Mr. Worrall to spread life altering audio wisdom into the vastness of the World Wide Web: like an A-List Actor, many of us will buy opening weekend tickets to ANYTHING Dan is in, without even knowing what your movie’s about. Even during a pandemic. You already KNOW it’s gonna be good, because Dan Worrall is staring, and EVERY Dan Worrall movie is an instant classic. So pay up!
making a video abouth this would ofcourse be pointless, but does anyone know about that bass of Dan’s, sounding similar to the timeless 3 one, a distortion that sounds similar to water on a vibrating surface? Thanks!
Wicked cool music! Has to be loud.
New loudness standard for 2022. - 0.1 dB RMS ;-)
This update is looking really good. Maybe this plug-in is not just another maximizer. Btw, have you had the chance to try FirComp and FirComp 2 from Jon V Audio? I've had it since release day and I'm still amazed every time I open it how he pulled off the same-sample attack time without any look-ahead whatsoever. I've only tested it with a Dirac impulse (except for using it in projects) but maybe you could analyze it a bit further?
