    Hey Dan. Have you ever tried " Wetfire" fire starter? I use it and I prefer it over the nesbit tabs. Also, when I am packing several of those meals in a bag that you just add hot water to, I take all but one of those bulky bags out of their pouches and put them in a very compressible ziplock bag. I cook my first meal in its original pouch, save that pouch for all the following meals to put the contents of the ziplocks in to cook that meal. Saves space, bulk and weight of all those pouches. They also fit better in a bear can!! Try it..I think you will like it!

    Hey Dan & Devin - I watch and subscribe to your channels. Love what you do! Just had to comment on this idea you both discussed. Dan, I added your gear list and it came to $2,629.96. Devin yours came to $2,416.35. I did not include everything because some things you mentioned don't need to be taken (ie electronics). I like that people will rush out and take your advice on gear. Then it will collect dust for years. I started backpacking in the 1960's with a Retco Dufty pack, and a sleeping bag and tent from Kmart. However through the years I have been able to update and get gear from those who had to buy the best and then never used it except for that first trip out. Through yard sales, seeing gear in someone's shed, garage, or basement, and going through used shopping sites, I have been able to make great deals or just have the gear given to me. Right now the gear I carry probably comes in at around $120. Just want everyone to know it is possible to get into backpacking without breaking the bank. Have fun and I hope someday I will meet you on the trail and we can share some stories. By the way, I'd like a 0 degree down bag - whose got one you aren't using any more?

    UNBELIEVABLE! Apparently, neither you nor Devin even owns a Hilleberg tent which in my opinion would be the very FIRST piece of equipment I select. There are no other brands I'd even consider. Specifically, the Enan; drop dead easy to pitch (both inner outer, & footprint all get pitched simultanteously), drop dead reliable,; shelter I could count on & never have to concern myself with taped seams. Tents with TAPED seams are el cheapo old technology has-beens. Yes, I copied & posted this exact reply to Devin's channel.

  • @azclaimjumper

    @azclaimjumper

    3 жыл бұрын

    Go with the Sand Colored Enan I'd bet a shiny dime most people have several tents because their seam TAPED tent started leaking. Hilleberg, as you well know, aren't TAPE seamed. I'm thinking a lot of tent manufacturers are looking at the problems MSR is having & will, at some point in time, realize hikers/campers really want a tent that doesn't leak, doesn't have to be replaced & doesn't have its seams TAPED. Tents get replaced by hikers not just because it's leaking & they don't want to bother sealing the seams, additional hikers/campers replace their tents because plastic parts break, tent poles break/bent, tent flys get blown away & the manufacturer no longer has replacements. As you well know, Hilleberg has a lifetime warranty on their tents & provides replacement parts long after a model is discontinued - REAL customer service.

    Love your channel! ❤️ Been following you for awhile! Thank you for all your gear recommendations and fabulous adventures. It has helped keep our spirits up in quarantine. Just wanted to drop a note regarding Backcountry. Since you have been promoting them a bunch, I decided to jump in and get some gear from them (normally I'm a die hard REI fan). I got bloody expensive winter boots from them and they won't repair them after just 2 small hikes. They took 3 weeks to respond that it doesn't fit in their 30 day warranty window but it also took them a week to ship it so apparently you are supposed to have an issue within 5 minutes of receiving the boot? I know you gotta eat so no shame but this company is not what you suggested. At least in my experience. But seriously keep up the excellent work. So much love for you and your adorable wife. ❤️❤️❤️

    Hmm.. That's really strange! That has never been the experience I've had with them ever! Even before they started sponsoring my videos. And I've never heard of that from anyone else. They've always been really good with me. As a matter fact, whenever I order from them, they have no idea who I am and everything has always been handled professionally.. even returns or replacements. I've purchased from REI many times as well and felt they both operated pretty much the same. I'm sorry that happened!

    When choosing a stove you picked up the BRS and called it Chinese junk Do you not like it or were you just being kinda flippant?

    I never said it was Chinese junk. That was a different stove in the video. But no I am not a fan of the BRS. Text way too long to boil and mike leaked.
